I was in Disney World last week. I couldn't get over all the alcohol being sold in all the parks. Beer and mixed drinks sold in kiosks as well as quick service and sit down restaurants. People were walking around with a drink in each hand. Parents pushing a stroller while drinking. If Disney is going to push the alcohol then expect more fights.

Do you know how profitable alcohol sales are ?! At regular bar prices, mixed drinks are about 75% profit - and at Disney prices?! Fogetaboutit! BTW, I had a middle-class upbringing in the 70s in the Midwest, so the adults around me almost had a beer/drink their hand. My dad was in construction, so I rarely got into a car that didn't have a 6-pack cooler on the front, bench seat. Only on a RARE occasion did all this drinking cause problems. What I remember mostly is adults letting down there façade of seriousness and acting a little silly. I can't think of a batter place for an adult to act silly than the Disney parks.

I noticed that too when I went in March this year. It had been many years since I went to Disney World and I certainly didn’t remember that much alcohol being available. I don’t know if it is good or bad but I feel like the parks are becoming a little less “wholesome” than I remembered them.

Maybe the cast members selling alcohol should not serve drunks. With so many drunks on property maybe guests should be limited to one or two per visit. Been on property many times and saw many drunks. It needs to be stopped because it is getting worse.

I have past students that really wanted to be custodial staff for their part-time job in college. The custodial staff also have maps, stickers, etc, so while they may sweep, they also spread magic around. One students told me it was an easy way to become a cast member and spread some cheer.

I was a sushi chef for 7 years and the sushi at Epcot is subpar. I hope this restaurant is an improvement. I’ll watch it later… fruitshi… why.

When I did Seven Dwarves Mine Train in standby I definitely remember a lot of people not necessarily pushing through but working their way through the line while everyone else was waiting in it. I definitely remember grumbling about it, though I seem to recall reading/seeing somewhere recently something about being able to go back to your spot if you had to exit for the bathroom or something? If that is the case I'd feel a bit bad because I know full well how long that line gets (as I was waiting in it). Of course in this case pushing other guests is never okay.

I agree. I think there is an unspoken policy that parties split and then are allowed to catch up in line. I’m not a fan of it but it seems like I. The last 8-10 years it happens a lot. It shouldn’t because it leads to this.

I remember when I was younger this happening a lot. Technically on Disney’s website they ask you to refrain from line jumping and saving a place for others in line. Now you can argue their definition of line jumping isn’t clear, but it seems technically Disney is asking people not to engage in this behavior.

Disney should start a “Senior” program much like the college program. Freshly retired individuals can volunteer to live in a dorm, pay rent and make basic money but from Thanksgiving thru Spring Break in April. Disney gets solid, no drama cast members and we get to spend winter in Florida at the happiest place on earth. Good for us-good for Disney.

I enjoy living up north and don’t need the money but wintering at Disney would be pretty fun for an active person 🤷🏻‍♂️. It would seem that considering the number of people who visit Disney World, it’s a vanishingly small proportion of guests that misbehave in this way. You hear the story so it seems outsized (this is a common phenomenon with news stories), but it doesn’t mean it’s a pervasive problem. The vast majority of guests who choose to drink alcoholic beverages don’t become unruly. Just because people like you find it distasteful to drink (which is actually kind of silly…really? Even a one drink limit you would find distasteful? Why? People drink alcohol at family functions. They just shouldn’t drink to excess) doesn’t mean people shouldn’t be allowed to responsibly enjoy alcohol at a theme park. There are also people who misbehave who are not drinking. Many cultures do not have the puritan perception of social drinking that you apparently do. You want to protect people at Disney World? Only sell vegetables and water, and force people to get a certification to drive the scooters. I’ve seen people get hit and hurt, no joke.

ON THE CUSTODIAL CAST MEMBER THING: Japan has a culture of promoting personal responsibility and cleanliness, as it is the responsibility of the collective to take care of each other. I think its a weirdly good idea; it helps build awareness and understanding. My mom would always instill the idea of cleaning up our table as much as possible to make cleaning easier for CM. It's not uncommon to find us getting up from a quick service and wiping down a table with a bit of water we splashed onto the table. For sit-down restaurants or places with more decorum, we group our drinks, stack any extra plates, and put our trash in empty cups.

as a long time service employee, we love people like you, but please don't ever put trash in the cups. it can be hard to fish out with our hands, and it's dangerous to put silverware inside of a glass to scrape something out. instead, add it to the stack of plates/bowls & avoid stacking trash on top of silverware

Yeah, but how much does a ticket to Tokyo Disney cost? Hotel? Their hotels give you things like toothbrushes and such, whereas domestically, they won’t even give you soaps and shampoos. It’s paying for a service that isn’t there, but once was. Like if a waiter wanted a tip, only you had to order at the counter, pick up your food, fill your own drink, then ask for condiments since they don’t even leave them out anymore, then throw away your own trash. Like what are you paying for anymore? If you are wiping down your table to be spotless, it’s probably because the table was already messy when you arrived, and you knew that the employees are too busy to actually clean them, because management understaffed on purpose to increase profits.

My gran used to work as a housekeeper in a hotel [not Disney] and growing up, I've been raised to ALWAYS leave two dollar tips for the housekeeping. I know it's not a lot, but still, I always have 1s on hand so when I go out even if it's an overnight stay at a hotel I leave the tip for housekeeping. [Sadly, I read that Japan doesn't do tips so that's gonna be something I have to keep reminding myself]

Our family were at magic kingdom on may 14 th waiting to watch fireworks. When all of a sudden a man in a scooter ran into the taped off fireworks area , landing on top of a child’s arm . The father of the child jumped on top of the man in the scooter . Quickly security guards were able to remove everyone. I had lollipops which I gave to the children that witnessed the incident. My feelings there were 2 wrongs and not sure what was the outcome 😢Think people are quick to anger .

Ya know, I've been going to these parks for a VERY long time, at least once or twice a week, and its not that often that I see drunk people. People drinking, yes. But flat out drunk, no. All these straight laced, 'family' freaks that preach constantly about alcohol, must just need something to complain about. I'm not saying it doesnt happen, but I dont think it's as rampant as some of you believe. We just hear about it far more often from bloggers now, because it's a sensational and clickable subject. Do I think they should limit drinks at certain places and such? Sure. Just to shut the Karens up, and keep the peace for the kiddies. And they should definitely refuse service to those who are obviously impaired. But no alcohol at all? The adults who have to bare the crowds while attempting to deal with thier tired and screaming children, would be awfully angry. Stop going then-right? That's what half of you will say. Predictable as always.

That's literally the whole gameplay thing in that awful Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure game the AVGN reviewed, I'm sure if a Disneyworld game was made based off of that it would be very accurate. Also gotta love how it's getting to be the norm, assholes getting drunk and blasted and violent at these parks, it's behavior like this that discourages me from wanting to socialize with others. 😑

Aww, is my droid man holding a pizza slice? It looks like one, but I doubt it is. xD Is it odd that I find it strange that Disney parks sells alcholoic drinks as it is? I mean, mocktails and such are one thing but why would there be strong drinks that could otherwise affect someone's entire behavior? I suppose not everyone acts out when drunk, but it's still just a huge risk, especially if there's not an enforcement of serving too many drinks like these. I'm not sure if there are, but if people in costume can't even tell people to stop touching and beating them, then how do the servers go along with making sure guests don't get drunk and otherwise endanger others and themselves? Like, maybe make a mimic of grog or something with sparkling water or soda water, something like that to make the drink stronger, without adding things that would make someone drunk? I'm not a drink maker though so maybe it's not that easy. But if people are getting into drunken brawls, then that's not good.

You know what stops bad behavior? Jail time and permanent ban on the entire visiting family. Dad may not get so drunk if his mom, sister and her family along with his own are permanently banned. Unfair? Not really.
