I am in my late 60s and living a dual life in a traditional Japanese farmhouse that feels like traveling back in time. It's a two-hour drive from Tokyo. Today, a young friend of mine came to visit. This friend and their child were the ones I planned to make pizza with last year around this time, using the brick oven we built. Finally, today we got the chance to make pizza together, although we didn't have enough time to prepare the dough from scratch, so we used a store-bought one. But we all made the tomato sauce together.
The temperature of the brick oven didn't reach the desired level, so the pizzas turned out a bit hard and the charcoal got on them as well, but the taste was still great. It's so much fun to gather around the brick oven with everyone!

Another topic is the Mexican "Day of the Dead." A friend of mine who lives in the United States sent me decorations for this traditional Mexican event that takes place on November 1st and 2nd. These cheerful skeletons are the first time I've ever seen such decorations. The Day of the Dead in Latin America is similar to Japan's Obon festival, but it's even more vibrant and joyful. Speaking about the deceased in such a cheerful manner might bring delight to them as well.
