She seems like a straightforward and honest person with a high intellect. She is fiercely private does not want to be in the limelight, I also feel the media frustrates her to a large extent when they step into her well guarded world hence her rude behavior towards them. She is highly talented and had made a well respected place and name for herself in Bollywood even before she met Amitabh Bachchan .If she seems bitter at times then you put yourself in her position, dealing with a cheating husband and despite that nursing her husband back to good health after her husband was critically injured on the sets of the movie Coolie. She may have shortcomings but hey , nobody is perfect.I wish you all the best Jaya ji.
this is how an interview should b...it's just great to see...he allows the celebrities to express their selves....no stupid questions at all...up to the mark...great irfan ji....i m jayaji's big fan...but now after seeing ur programs hv become ur fan
She is actually better actor in Bachchan family which she doesn't get enough credit for. She is like fresh air in Bachchan family where all others (Big B, Aish, Abhishek) are always politically correct, always look happy and praise others which makes it look little bit superficial sometimes. Aishwarya's giggles and Big B's monotonous praise of 10,000 thousand people doesn't look real (though it might be). She being a strong independent woman have lived life on her terms and retain her individuality & not change herself as a Bachchan. She is an Inspiration. She says what she feels like without being a slave to Media and PR team and hence she is not praised enough by media. She is what she is and she is awesome. She is not arrogant , she is just vocal and reacts without filters and normally her reaction are out of general concern towards betterment of soceity or film industry (some reacts for purely selfish reason not her). She doesn't show any tantrums. Nonetheless thanks Jayaji for being a strong independent woman in real terms rather than superficial feminism which some other actresses talk about but don't follow. She has aged gracefully without any beauty treatement and she is not self obsessed with her body and image unlike most others which are. Her focus is beyond clothes, makeup, image, PR. Her confidence is shown and she doesn't need to look or act a certain way to create or maintain certain image. Very few main stream actoresses remains so real after all these years. Massive Respect for you Ma'am.
A complete joy and pleasure! Jaya Bachchan is splendid, always a delight to see her gorgeous smile. Very well spoken, true to herself, and does not mince her words. I loved every minute of this show :-)
She is a role model for me. I never hear any actors mentioning her in their favorites, but she is the best actress. The only thing I remembered Sholay for was her. She is so natural and gives the right amount to every emotion. It's never over the top. I love how she didn't care what the mould of an actress was and she didnt get carried away by all the sex symbols around her. I respect her modesty, dignity, and her wanting to do things her own way. This is what I call a modern and strong woman. She just genuinely doesn't give a damn.
i,m great fan of Jaya ji , not only for her acting excellence but her strong personality also , and i m agreed on critic point of view plus current actors / acting / and production of films . , I,ve owning music group on face book and there we tried to give her all due respect . thank you for making possible to see this most natural interview. respect and regard.
I think she is a great actress a degree higher than Amitabh.Look at her silent love in Sholay,so beautiful. She has a special talent to make things natural
Outstandingly mature interview of a talented and accomplished actress by a very sober and dignified anchor who has carried it out excelently with fitting decorum matching with her stature. Very memorable. 👌
She is descent.. even though now she has a bit of temper but all n all shes a nice lady n has held her ground.. even her children r descent.. kids n husband change their ways when there is a disciplined mother/ wife..
other gr8 interview by irffan....!!! fearless....sharp...proactive.... never worried about questions on which how jaya ji reacts....!!! all question been asked except one regarding Amitabh and Rekha....but all over its very nice....

I like her very much she is a lady with a good morals, chaste and a good wife also coming from a v.good family and highly educated.I believe she is the success behind amitabh bacchan
Hats off to you Jayadidi, you are better actress than other actresses even than Amitabh Bachhan also. She sacrifice her whole acting life for her family life.
JAYA JI WHEN YOU WERE ASKED TO NAME A MOVIE WHEREIN YOU LIKED YOUR ROLE THE NAME OF HAZAR CHORASI KI MAAN WAS IN MY MIND IT IS FACT YOUR PERFORMANCE IN HAZAR CHORASI KI MAAN WAS GREAT AND I CANNOT FORGET THAT MOVIE WHENEVER I RECALL MY MEMORY ABOUT YOUR WORK JEETI REHIYE AUR ESAY AHHAY ROLES KIJIYE
Jaya Bachan is a excellent actress. I never went to any university or have any degree, that doesn’t mean I’m not educated. Education comes by reading books & listening to intelligent people. Even in parliament she speaks her mind even if it means the party who nominated might not agree. I have been living in UK from last 57, years, but still like to stay in touch what goes on in India. Sadly our elected politicians are dividing people of India. Thank you Gufatgu. Now I’ll watch all episodes.
She is my favourite female actor in B'wood. She acts well. Moreover, In her films she always made her role charming and interactive by her voice, giggle, expression, innocence etc. I liked the way she put forth herself in old films. No doubt why Basu, Hrishikesh and Ray chose her over others. It's quite unfortunate that she had to break her film career in between.
No one should ever criticized Jaya ji. She is a woman of stamina and strong will power. She endure all hurt and disrespect from her husband and society. Can any woman put up with what she went through? none. She is a good woman of dignity, dharma and as a example of a good female. And Amitabh should stop the media for disrespecting his wife and stop the scenario of the past*(Rekha) Thats old and he should love and respect his wife.
Love your question about arrogance and putting acting on the same platform as that of a cobbler or a carpenter. It's high time we started respecting every profession to bring stability and kill the sense of insecurity in our society. Only then we'll have the right people at the right place and end good result. We need to come out of our pre-historic caste system. WE NEED A REAL DEMOCRACY.
48:50 quite right, she has a good point. But this is true of most things now, not just film critics, from carpentry to writing. A writer that writes obviously with films in mind is this era's renowned author because he sells and does get his books made into films. People forget what reading good literature feels like, and measure it by awards that can be manipulated within a coterie or by sales or films made based on them. This criteria would elevate a writer sold those days but not respected.
Jayaji is someone who remain closed with nature that I felt after listening her interview as c never planed but kept herself loose in the flow of river that is y c is so humble. SUCH type of person never like lying come what may I hope this must b the reason interviewer not ask her any question related to her relation ship with Amitji etc. (am sure c came for interview on this condition. ) I find her interview nohing else but only truth truth & truth. I hope that c must have completed purpose of life if not then celebrity r the most unfortunate human on the earth (as very few celeb r as honest as c is what I felt after listening to her precious interview.)
I respect her a lot. Generally herons are not capable to manage family and kids with career but she did so well and now she is a MP, too good. salute mam
Loved her performances in her early movies ..in abhiman I believe she was superior to Amitabh as far as acting is concerned ...but this episode was one of the most uninspiring of all
Jayaji aap meri sabse chahiti actor rahi hai aur hamesha rahegi. Aap ki Fiza film, aapki woh chuninda filmose hai jo bhulna chaho to bhi bhulayi nahi ja sakti.
Jaya Bachchan nee' Bhaduri lives her roles, and has secured a place in the hearts of trillions of film goers all over the world,m that have made her immortal., She has put 'acting' on a pedestal that makes it deserve a place in the temple of the hearts of the film lovers. Her work has been recognized by making her member of the Rajya Sabha of Indian Parliament, apart from winning national and international awards, and a especial place as a close next door neighbor for her admirers within the country and abroad.
some uneducated people think that she doesn't have degrees or she is from a cheap family background; for them i have to say u don't have any idea how educated she is. even on acting. she is a gold medalist. her family background also very rich. u whoever don't like her would like or love her a lot if she could've taken off her clothes or dressed always half naked. why? because u r so used to by watching half naked woman. she is a dignified woman. probably you never heard of that word "dignified". or self respect?
What a lovely interview! Was so offended with her Abu-Sandeep iv! What a big artiste and they kept asking her only about Mr Bachchan! Found that iv very sexist. This is all about Jaya Bhaduri/Bachchan. She is so articulate.
Responding to a comment below the video about those posting hate comments:- Those doing hate posting here or against her family or liitle kids for that matter, or anything good about India, don't do it due to their taste or conviction or any reason other than being turned on by hating anything good, especially anything good about India. They are like the stone pelters, paid by same agencies.
Talking about the rape scene she said ,No...all these actresses who are now claiming sexual abuse by big names in the film world, going to hotel rooms for roles, should learn one thing,Say No .
17:00 This era suffers from an uncertainty re image of senior citizens vis a vis meeting of old cukture with strong tide of modern west, and those that were young rebels or modern in their time are now senior. Few of them can or want to get away with having had short hair and worn bikini then and doing an age appropriate role now, and some did it all while still young so they can't be doing it forever. Jaya Bhaduri was very Indian then, but she coukd hardly fill in for a long suffering mother or nasty in law as then set images were once, done by Sulochana or Lalita Pawar. Aparna Sen has played age appropriate roles, but chiefly by being in charge, producing and directing. To be fair, though, most western artists and even, or most cases, males, only find their niche roles after the first flush if youth by turning producers, nd taking reins of power in hand. From Clint Eastwood to Robert Redford to Matt Dillon, they all turned to producing so they could find interesting roles for themselves. West is far from blind to age, quite the opposite! Most females in west do vanish faster with age than, say, Nutan did in India. And Lalita Pawar worked for 87 years!
Anyone who colour their hair let them. There is nothing sad about it. She chooses not to colour her hair, that is great. Her husband got a wig - dark hair, white beard, so is that sad?
