I mean, the drifter bit mostly seems like it stems from his instinct to argue trivia minutia about the "drifter characters". And to be fair in a world where super scientists are a thing, "Chimp Eden Operator" isn't an absolutely impossible career choice, even if it still requires schooling.

He crosses something out, true, but he's writing all the time while Hank and Billy are talking, there's zero evidence he wrote secutor.... Or you might be right, this is a bit trivial to fight over on the internet. Sorry for having brought it up in the first place.

This scene takes on a whole new meaning when Billy trying to get it through to Rusty that the boys are pathetically unprepared for real life and have no applicable skills is something he knows all too well, given his whole arc and backstory- being a boy genius who hit a brick wall when sent undercover to college and ends up a skilled surgeon with no credentials who lives in a trailer with an albino who kidnapped him.

Oddly enough Hank is the only (living) venture that seems to enjoy the life of costumed super-heroism and villainy. SPHINX or the OSI would be perfect for him, he was even a decent wonder boy while that lasted.

He just needs to bulk himself up a bit his hits against 21 did nothing when he was wonder boy but he did do a stair kick to him and used a trap against the monarch then smoke bombed 21 and escaped via grappling hook

Actually, Hank seems to have a surprising aptitude for OSI-style espionage, given his various speeches (I believe one of them caused Hatred to remark that he had guts far outside anything Rusty had to show) and his stint as a private eye. In fact, when he tries to join Sphinx, he puts the same sort of boy-adventurer experiences that traumatized his father and terrify his brother to shockingly competent use.

Dean's 3rd choice of carreer is marine biologist. latest season he's sleeping with Sirena, who is the daughter of Wide Whale who is the brother of dr Dugong. She also has gills. So i guess you can say he's getting to know marine biology on a more practical level

ShotRage They never wanted him in the first place, each test was one he was meant to fail. When he aced them all, Hunter claimed he had to be a High School graduate. When Brock went to commiserate Hank, Hank hit his bed which printed off his Diploma as the machine had been jammed. Brock then claimed Sphinx only took people over 18.

Thing is that SPHINX wasn't actually an official organisation, basically just ex-OSI renegades using the gear of an old supervillain group as a black ops squad. Hunter's in charge purely because the members obey him, and can and does make up the rules as he goes.

Dean... uh... I wouldn't call him smart. Y'know what those two would be good at? Writing. Hank handles the dialogue, and Dean edits it. If they find an artist that's good at inking, think of all the crazy shit they'd come up with together! ... So long as someone's around to prevent Hank from inserting Batman into every plot, you've got comic gold! Inevitably there'd be a crossover between Mecha Sheva and Axe Cop B-/

Back then, I always thought Hank and Dean would restore Venture Industries to its former glory. Dean would apply his scientific mind, and Hank would be the charismatic face of the company, and in charge of marketing.

I would also like to add that the main reason JJ is such a success... in addition to being the one to inherit Jonas's brain... is probably because he never had to be subjected to EVERYTHING that Rusty did... from the kidnappings, to the harassment from the rest of Team Venture... to seeing "where he came from" while trying to enjoy a bowl of cereal. what did you think of the "gas station bathroom" line?

I was thinking the same thing, except for the fact that not only did Jonas endanger Rusty by sheltering him (kind of a strange paradox), but he also Tormented Rusty by handing him everything in life... like a high school diploma and college... and when Jonas died, so did Rusty's only lifeline. With that in mind, Rusty is actually making things worse for Hank and Dean because he can't hand the boys keys to the world... heck, he can't even hand them Keys to a gas station bathroom.

It's a really clear case of a cycle of abuse; Jonas both neglected and sheltered Rusty, exposing him to constant adventure weirdness and danger but no actual normal activities or opportunities to develop basic life skills, leaving him dependent and stunted... and Rusty did the same thing to his kids, because it's all he knows.

@@KingOfElectricNinjas Not fully, he seems to be at least somewhat aware. He's at least a bit more concerned about how they make it through some of it. He doesn't neglect or discount their feelings the way that Jonas did his. He is a better father, a low bar admittedly but he is at least somewhat a better father. The preparation for the outside world is an issue but I'm honestly not sure anyone in that kind of world would function well outside of it

But Hank and Dean turned out better than Rusty, I think it's because they have each other (a same age companion) and Brock (a more mental healthy grown up than their father). I don't remember Jonas gave Rusty "key to the world." Like Rusty, he used Learning bed to teach Rusty knowledge and then threw him into college. I remember Jonas being his own son's counselor and when Rusty questioned his way he told him he was ungrateful. Rusty doesn't do much better being a dad, but he at least gave Hank a chance doing what he want, and can have Dean think he's a better father than Jonas.

"Chimp Eden" is actually relatively realistic. He could run a primate reserve. I mean, he'd still need the capital to build the damn thing, and require loads of donations, so he'd be working his ass off to keep the place afloat, hiring vets and handlers, running marketing campaigns to raise awareness, asking for grants from the government But at least that job actually involves someone being paid money at some point in time Also, an executor would be a lawyer

I don't mean to butt into you conversation but i was thinking how in a sort of strange way Brock has become the only rational parental outlet for Hank and Dean. Through out all of the show Brock seems to be the only one capable of making sensible decisions toward the boys' well being and able to talk to them about how they are feeling without completely talking down to them and what does that really say about this family? when a blood thirsty murderer is the voice of reason.

Retail is NOT low level, in fact retail is one of the easiest ways to earn 30+k consistently and the fastest from the start, hell 50k is the standard when having experience. From soldering to truck driving, eletricians, mechanics, all very profitable jobs. College is only for STEM if you want to have a profitable income later on, everything else is a waste of time/money.

It just occurred to me that, given his referring to the character's status as a drifter, Hank was probably referring to the TV incarnation of The Hulk. This means Billy erroneously referred to the character as Dr. Bruce Banner; in the TV series his name was David.

We had career day at my school. And then after that we each met with a guidance counselor we were assigned to. And of course we had a sheet with a list of jobs/careers that peaked our interests. Looking back now, I'm thoroughly disappointed with my self lol.

Nope, our "guidance counselor" was just put in our school to narc on us to the principal. Three kids got expelled on the same day and everyone else just quit going to her office. She got paid for at least two years to sit in her office and read magazines after that.

I thought it was quite apt; it was sad seeing Rusty trying to get Dean into State on legacy, and the dean telling him that the only reason they saw him was because they thought he was JJ. And he describes their situation perfectly when he's fake kidnapped, saying that Hank is a cursed Venture, just like him..

My middle school had a copy of Funk and Wagnells Hammond World Atlas and it had some of the most fucked up pictures inside of it. It not only had maps and data but it also had nudity and pictures of people with these incredibly disgusting diseases like this baby bleeding from the mouth because of a hemorrhage or something. Well, D̶e̶a̶n̶ Hank could be a gladiator, or at least a modern day version of one. All a gladiator was was a warrior who fought to entertain the masses. He could be an MMA Fighter. Or if he wanted to fight with weapons, he could do M-1 Medieval fighting where they put you in armor and you fight with real weapons.
