The garage I use is a family run business. Has no waiting area and they never tell you how long the work will take, but despite that I would never go anywhere else, as they are so welcoming and so honest. Above all they actually call me when the car is ready. That's enough for me.
How hard can it be to realise that in a service industry, you need good customer service? The only thing a small business in this field has going for it, is great staff, great work, honesty and reliability. Other than that, you may as well take your car to one of the big chains.
@@JanLord So glad it worked out for you! As a woman, there were very few garages I would go to, for fear of being ripped off. It got to the stage when I took an old car for a service, that I wrote a letter and handed it over with the car. I stated the type of service I had booked, the price and that if there was anything else wrong they had to get my permission first. Well, I went to collect the car and instead of a service bill that I think was supposed to be about 100 pounds at the time, they told me they had needed to do this, that and the other - and were expecting around 500. The manager wasn't there but I explained that they had not had permission to do extra work and that I wouldn't pay for it. Upshot was that they allowed me to take the car home and I never heard from them again - they didn't even ask for the actual service cost! Here in Spain, we have a brilliant mechanic who I trust implicitly, it is a relief!
