GG, I remember when I first ID'd a 20/20 pally... What a feeling that was. It took me about 10 years of playing the game to ID a 20/20 anni, and I happened to get a 20/20/5 and a 20/20/8 within 4 anni's... Unreal, sometimes you just get lucky. The fact that you can get such a feeling so many years after the release of the game is truly what makes this game special. It's so hard to do some many things or get just the right rng. Thanks for making this content, I'm back on it myself and I've caught the bug. What is dead may never die (like the love for this game)

I also use a grief to zeal in pvp. Hoz is definitely my go to over Exile. Also do some cows! Haha

I have never seen a perfect one of any class rolled before.

As for the belt i prefer Nosferatu's coil or Verdungo's or String of ears.

for the amulet i prefer Highlord's Wrath or Seraph's hymn.

if i have exile i prefer to use the gloves from disciple Lying of hands 350% dmg to demons 20% attack speed and 50% fire resist.

man I had a geared out smiter back in the day. I took a couple month break and all my characters expired. RIP. i can't remember my account info anymore either. I read that as long as no one made a new character with one of the expired characters names that you can 'reactivate it' but since I can't even remember my account name anymore im SOL.

How do smiters deal with physical immunes?

If starting out from scratch this level gear can take up to 100s of hours to get. maybe even more. lifetime worth of Magic finding and trading lol.

Dude, you put a lot of effort into gearing specifically because of Meph, then you abandon your team instead of taking him out first when your buffs are all fresh? Meph is either first (go south to start) or last (go west and take out D first, then Baal). I prefer first because the inevitable pile of summons are worse when Meph is involved. P.S. Salvation is your friend and a 1 point wonder. You could lose the Wisp and Tgods for a string/Verdungos and another Raven or a BK (or perhaps a Dwarf if combined with a string because 30 magic dmg reduce is no joke).

when explaining the resist auras raising the max resists, you forgot to also mention that its a 1:1 ratio when you have the aura active. so 10 points in, you will raise the max by 5% passively, but 10% when you have the aura active.

You missed out a lot of explanation here. Smite hits every time and is not dependable on attack rating, that is the reason why we use it. +damage from weapon goes into smite, but +ed does not. That's why Grief is high-end gear for a smiter, even though you may have to pass on 100%cb. Higher absolute damage (that doesn't come from cb) will let you kill and regenerate faster. Also, you can zeal with Grief. With zeal, it's a lot faster to kill small units. Life leech doesn't work with Smite and never works on Mephisto, that's why lifetap is unavoidable. A cheap example gear looks like this: Black, Gully, Herold of Zakarum, Goblin Toe, Raven Frost, Draculs and the best cheap armor is treachery because of Fade and ias (don't waste time with buffing, just wear it all the time). Belt, ring, whatever. And Akara sells lifetap-sticks. You can get good gear for an utrist smiter for an ist rune. Or you can build it yourself. Why didn't you show that in your video? I love seeing your runs. You are very nice and the best player I have ever seen. But your tutorials don't have the same standards.

Easy UT-absorber. Guillaume (um), rising sun, any 20+ ias pb (crescent or even steel does the job, ofc grief makes it faster), treachery for meph and precast/shaft for lilith, zak (pTopaz) or spirit ~30+, dracs, ravens, tgods, goblin, tp/lt swap. That's it. No need for coh or exile. Smite, hs - max, conv 21+ (just make sure u turn it on before meeting meph), opt medi 1 for baal mana drain, some fana, LRes 20 if u wish to absorb all meph's charges dmg. In fact pvm smiter is useless except for bosses or party buff/debuff, so it can focus on some special features most other builds sacrifice.

I think it sucks that players can't get a Hellfire Torch in single player without mods/hacks...

Another good weapon choice is Lawbringer(for those who aren't going with the Life Tap build or can't afford a Life Tap build right away). Gives Decrepify on striking!

When they first introduced the torch drop I remember playing quite a bit. I would run a smite build to help people get their torches. For Meph's conviction aura, i stacked my lightning resist up to a total of i believe 310%. that kept me at max resist even with his aura (that offset the hell reduction / aura). I had torch/anni and mara's amulet and a had a ton of small charms all with resist and +20 life. my inventory was completely filled, but I mainly used that pally to just kill ubers and that was it. Didn't realize you could do a budget smiter - i was decked out with the best of the best of items i could find. Great video! I know what i need to farm up so i can start doing this again

How i do Ubers - Zeal MAX , Sacrifice Max, Holy Shiled max, Fanaticism max, rest on defiance. I use Grief, Exile, Gface, Frotitude, Raven and BK, String of ears,Dracs,Highlord,Goreriders and ofc cta with spirit in offhand.Torch and anni and attack rating,life and dmg charms.Merc is A2 might with Gface,Reaper eth,Duress.I do lesser ubers with zeal and trist on smite.1 point there is ok i do like 1.7k smite. Pretty fun build.I do trist on smite only cause of the single target thing, zeal constantly change targets and cant leech so quick.

edit: preface. . when people are looking for builds like smiters, and mf builds. It's usually because they can't afford anything and want a way to generate income. So even something as simple as a Lo rune from a grief PB.. . while cheap in the grand scheme of things, . . is quite expensive for someone early on in ladder. . why spend enough to make a grief and exile, when you can just buy your basic torch? . . the people who know what builds to find for high end pvp etc. also know how to already get those builds off the ground with early mf/keys/ubers/etc. . the ones who look for guides on these, don't already know that. and are looking for something they could reasonably obtain within a week or so of casual gameplay (e.g. 2 hours a day or less). . . sometimes less. . . . most people who have jobs, potentially an SO, maybe even children. 2 hours a day is already a lot. . 8 hours work, 8 hours sleep, daily maintenance (work around the house, chores, transportation to work, etc.) can easily end up 4 on its own. if they wanna spend time with friend, family, etc. then they wont have much time to game or do that outside days off. . . the higher demand of the world, and increased overall age of people willing to play games/admit to playing them and the responsibilities attached to that. . . are one reason I don't think d2r will be an extreme success. . I think it'll get attention but not to the same degree as before. Life simply demands too much time. . and so builds like this. . . i'd say 5% of the playerbase could realistically acquire, if that. and most of those will be through trading like d2jsp. . . expecting even this level to be a standard build will push people to bots, companies to create bots, as they'll assume they need something of this calliber, and seeing as they lack the time to do it themselves, will turn to purchasing gear. . . I was in a random game today just practicing leveling, and the guy thought he NEEDED stuff like grief for ubers, when that's simply not true. . . because every guide and it's mother (well most) only show optimal builds, what to aspire to, but rarely what the build looks like in it's infant stages while still being usable. . . sry for the rant :(. Cheap smiter build - updated for people who don't wanna spend a million on a smiter. . Helm - Kira's. ort rune or um rune. both work. stack res's stupid high. believe mephisto has a -150 on his lvl 20 conviction aura weapon - Heavens light. . can also use stormlash/fleshrender/black . . i like heavens light for bonus to fanatacism and good breakpoints. but lots of options. . bonus dmg to demons can help finish the last bit of hp as well. which non grief builds kill slower with. shield - 4 socket pld shield with 35-40+ res all. pref vortex. Griz shield with pdiamdonds as well. same reason as kiras. hell I've used upped pdiamond HoZ before and it works if you got charms for the extra res. . average dmg is really close. +skills hit better fanatacism breakpoints, block bonuses give you more vitatliy etc. . so long as you built around it. though I prefer griz. armor - Guardian Angel. Um rune if you can afford it. . paired with 10 points to each resistance. you hit 95 cold/light/fire. 90 poison . . only melee hits can do any dmg to you. gloves - dracs . . . is this even a choice? open wounds is required. and 5% lifetap chance will sustain you after the initial lifetap wand boots - either gtoes or gores. . 25% open wounds is usually enough that gtoes are better here. that said I don't like to stack too much CB. or the last little bit of an ubers health can take awhiel. ring 1 - Ravenfrost. cbf, block, etc. ring 2 - honestly anything can work here. I tend to go with whisp projector in low gear if i can. Meph is the only thing that scares me (and matron). . even with 95 light res post conviction, when you're early ladder you have a low health pool. he'll chunk you. . wisp makes mephisto a non factor. Alternatively I like using resistance rings with cold/light. easing up on any res all charms i may need ammy - I go with highlords flat out. the light res again for mephisto. It lets me focus less on full res all. and let fire/poison res drop a little. Only 2ndary option I consider is cat eye curio. . the ammy is mostly to hit breakpoints more than anything. in a build this fragile early on, you need to be hitting a high breakpoint. both to reapply lifetap, get quick crushing blow hits in. . but ultimately, to finish the kill in the end. swap - LIfetap wand. a shield with high block and pdiamonds. . don't wanna drop all the resistances from weapon swap in case mephy decides he wants to throw a lightening bolt at you while wand tapping him. . but it doesn't need to be nearly as fancy. prebuf - Treachery. just stand in the fire inside and let fade pop. then swap to guardian angel and go ham. inventory - fhr and resistance charms for the most part. to hit the requisate resistances. Ubers won't be able to actually kill you even with 2 stacked together (fight baal + diablo together frequently. though I dislike dealing with baals mana drain). . So long as you're hitting something with smite and lifetap. . which you can apply quickly with a wand swap. . . mephisto with resistances stacked that high is practically a non factor. even with only like 2k health. no bo nothing. and the entire build can be put together pretty cheap. It's primary weakness, is matron. She's the biggest threat really. . You can even swap kira's for something like a vamp gaze/andy's for that area. . . no conviction aura's -150. you wont need it stacked as high as kira's for that portion. cb - 48% OW - 25 resistances - 95 AFTER conviction . . . e.g. 150 + 100 + 95. . so 345 res all. . in the case with highlords, you can get away with 300 poison/fire. 345 light/cold. . . If you're confident you'll never face mephy AND the other ubers. and you'll be able to kill him before his skellies get a large number. You could get away with 345 cold/light but closer to 250ish poison/fire

One question, i'm using different amulet: highlords wrath; Belt: nosferatus coil, vampire fang belt; Glove: laying of hands, bramble mitts what i would have and change?

I thought you said in another video that Crushing Blow on Weapons won't stack with Smite, as it's isolated to the weapon attack only - so why recommend the Black runeword, for instance? Could you clarify?

I've only ever beaten the game on Normal. Yes, yes, noob, whatever, bloo blah. Now that that's out of the way, if I only put points into Smite and Holy Shield is that enough to get me through Solo Hell? That's really my only main goal.

would you guys say this is the safest build to solo ubers on hardcore? he still got one shotted once.. maybe because it was players3 or something? but still he had barb bo + oak sage so yeh, im confused

I’d put one point inton Defiance to get the Holy Shield synergy. It’s so worth it, especially if you’re stacking some plus to x-skills :)

Highlords Wrath looks good, but I wouldn't recommend it on the Smiter. The Highlord's wrath gives you Deadly Strike, Deadly Strike doesn't work with Smite. Smite only works with Crushing Blow and Open Wounds. so I'd Probably go with the Mara's.

can you do a smiter untwinked from level 1?

For additional res you can also Um Guillamue's to help further offset conviction from Uber Meph, it was pretty much required when I ran hardcore Ubers

8:35 - very cheap and still great option is Eth Prudence. I made it in Eth AP, got over 3k defence + over 30@ res, super cheap and paired with Exile I have got 35k overall defence.

Last aura in def tree, which contain all resistance, dont increase max res? Is that reason why ppls use small auras instead of this complex?

I Remember my luckiest day in diablo 2 lod it was back in 2017-2018 ladder just ended and everybody got thrown into non ladder i didnt care personally i was just prepared to pvp with my top smiter but i saw this lobby called free stuff and he apparently threw all his stuff out cause he was only a ladder player he didnt want to play non ladder and i was the first one to enter that lobby. He threw all his stuff on the ground most of it was trashy but i saw a gold charm and i already had one on this char so i quickly before everybody else joined threw mine and saw it was a 20/20 i couldent freaking believe my eyes man and y'all know it i didnt play for a few months and my acc got deleted because blizzard deletes acc after 3 months without login GG but i sold most of my gear to a random person i game for 100 euros :D

Enigma or guardian angel are also super great for a smiter. I've never been THAT desperate for res that I needed coh over enigma, and life without tele is no life at all

Just got my first torch ever on singleplayer, 14-20 zon, wish it was Pala or Sorc since those are my only chars, but il be making a zon someday anyway, and its still usefull for stacking res on future torch runs. Was alot easyer then expected though. Only gear different from yours is black runeword (dont have a phase blade for grief yet, and need a mal too -.-), zaka, no wisp so used dwarf/raven ring, and enigma (i grinded out both enigma and infinty early from lower kurask, got a 28 maras from a corpse while doing that aswell :p and got a jah from running meph as a newb acc too XD). So "budget", or atleast non optimal gear is just fine, only the knockback from black is a bit anoying when clearing mobs. Merc used reapers toll, treachery and vgaze, had to res it once vs the first 3 bosses (dont remember wich), and it got 1 shot by meph. I did stack alot of sc for extra res and health in my inventory + a 15@res gc, and a perfect anni that i got from cheesing Dclone in chaos sanc, also thanks to one of your vids, my first and probaly only Dclone i will ever kill :p. Total res was 173 fire, 198 cold, 203 light and 152 poison + whatever fade from treachery gives (20 more now with the zon torch for future runs :)). Was expecting lillith and meph to wreck me, but my health pretty much never went down. Getting keys from nith was alot harder then getting the torch (died alot), used the pala for all the keys, but i think im gonna use sorc instead for nith from now on, with a natures peace ring. So thanks for the guide, it helped me alot! And thanks for the Dclone guide aswell :)

The only problem with Pandemonium is farming Niha if u don’t have Nature’s Peace (ok ok i know “somebody” has Tyrael 😉): with Lawbringer and without merc it’s a long way. Whenever you are inside Pandemonium there is nothing that CB can’t do. I “oneshoted” Izual inside a pack with Zeal: i hadn’t the time to switch to Smite.

instead of 16points combined into Lite Res/Cold Res you can just put them into Conviction, sacrifice 4points of another skill and just negate his aura and you can use all different gear than what you're using and do it easier. fyi GoreRiders>GobToes becuase crushing blow is current hp so it doesn't actually kill them, Deadly Strike is just double dmg and will kill faster past 50%max HP.

Is smite interruptible?

I run a strange build but i have never even come close to dying on uber runs. Upd umd hoz, perf umd kiras, enigma ( treachery to prebuff fade ) last wish phase blade, upd g toes, dracs or 20 ias cb gloves, t gods, wisp, raven, highlords, random cta and pal spirit for swap, no torch ( so i can sell then unid without needing other characters ) and a random anni.

I'm sick of standard smiter build so I created my own badass build with 90-100% cb, all max ress under mef and simply unkillable and no need to wait for ress from Treachery. You just go in all 3 bosses, and go out.

I prefer LastWishpb along with 20ias 10cb gloves. u get the lifetap proc as well from last wish. also fade. and u get might aura as well as 60-70 crushing blow. i prefer even bottom of the barrel roll last wish over grief. but thats just my roll on it :D

The only thing I'd add is a luxury Enigma, if you can afford it. Nothing makes getting organs easier than a Breast Plate Enigma for that teleport farming. Of course swap it out for CoH when actually fighting. Also if you have a CTA with a Spirit on swap, using that as you teleport will help as you will have a higher FCR.

highlords isn't good you don't need more ias you're already past the breakpoint with 10ias on a phase blade lmao. fanta aura is op. You don't want treachery at all it's good for pre-buff that's it. Smoke and duress are good to wear during the fight.

Can tell this guy playes Sc. I'm a hc east ladder player I carry 6 people and solo ubers I like to fight d, baal, and mephisto all at once. I do chaos the same way pop all seals and lead all monsters to the pentagram. I always go for op gear perfect stats help pvp only get to die once. A smiter needs max cb, grief or Lastwish make great weapons, always need max damage reduction so mephisto don't kill you. I always stack my resists so lvl 20 conviction don't drop me negative I prefer one raven frost and angelic ammi and ring

gulioms face, draculs and 1 point in smite is all you need for ubers lol. Take a fast waepon like phase swor na dont need max fanatism. Also your own convinction at lvl 15 or so, overrides uber mephs.

guardian angel is really good on a smiter aswell.. all the block and 15% max res in all 4.. and a ton of armor, means you can swap skills around to have more defence from holy shield aswell, not that its really needed
