some lesser known facts about 1965 classic guide starring dev anand and waheeda rehman .
dev anand needed a dancer actress for the role so he suggested vyjayanthimala but american director tad danielewski disliked her and decided to final leela naidu but she was not dancer and she has no star value so dev anand finally decided to proceed with waheeda rehman as rosy .
dev anand wanted to shoot english and hindi guide together but vijay anand refused to replicate the shots taken by american director tad danielewski. vijay anand disliked the original story of novel written by r k narayan . vijay anand refused to be part of this project.
dev anand called raj khosla to direct hindi guide but waheeda rehman was not comfortable with raj khosla . raj khosla and waheeda rehman had some kind of rift during shoot of solva saal in 1958 .
raj khosla had to leave guide .
then chetan anand was called to direct the movie but he had to go for the shoot of his own film haqeeqat as legal permissions were done .
finally dev anand again requested vijay anand but vijay anand wrote the complete script in his own way changing the original story of the novel .
