PSA You can only cut down Spruce and the regular Pine trees with the tree harvesters. Everything else will need to be done by chainsaw. You can still grab the other types of tree logs after cutting them with a chainsaw with the loaders and put them into trailers.
I'd add that with Spruce (not tried pine) if you allow it to mature (3× growth stages) then the trunk grows too thick for the tree harvester to work with.
@@I_Evo there are different size processing heads on the harvesters. Make sure to get the one with the largest head and that will fix the problem the ponse ergo 8 mod is a great choice. It's on console and pc
You might want to look at getting the white semi side dumping trailer. I want to say it holds 14 or 16k if wood chips. Also perfect too for the rock picker to dump into, if you play with rocks on.... I like the put the stump mulcher on the front of my normal tractor and pull a rock crusher behind me as the stump grinder can dig up rocks...
Here’s an interesting tidbit, Typical merchantable measurement for trees (the bit you sell) starts from a foot from the ground all the way up to where the tree starts the taper off. Usually these are measured in six foot increments, and the. Are separated by circumference. Anything less than 5” is not harvested. Anything between 5”-10” is turned into pulpwood. Anything greater than 10” is turned into timber.
Forester is absolutely broker banger for rmoney making. Shift+P u can buy old spruce > cut it > sell for 4500+ as 6m logs. And again and again. If u buy big spruce (1800 euro) u can harvest it with harvestor faster for 3000 sell prize. Game devs muss fix a price of trees in shift+P shop. Make it more expensive little bit. This isnt any bug. Is simply game mechanic with buying trees as decoration in basic game shop and harvesting it. Srry for my bad eng. Im from Czech.
I have a total of 3x furniture lines and the production from sawmill still over-runs them. I would have never gone into them to start with, but bought as I could not sell any more planks (basically tried to sell a batch and the carpentry was full and not accepting any more goods/making new payments)
For wood chips I use the tree devourer with a semi trailer hooked up with a dolly. Huge load capacity like 250,000 to 300,00 liters. Tree devourer mod is on pc and console👍
Little tip when you start with no money just buy a truck and a chainsaw, sell your farm and all that and build a house near the sawmill once you make enough money you buy a small tractor to haul logs so on and so on. but start with a truck and a chain saw best way to earn your keep...
thank you for this video. For the life of me I just couldn't figure out the "both mouse buttons at once" to open the claw. To me at the time, just looked like middle mouse or the scroll wheel and I was getting now where with the crane.
Would love to see an automatic log loader. This would cut time. This would allow everyone to get used to the equipment. Before spending all the time trying to load. Would make it fun for me lol
❤️🎞️👍 Great content as usual. Extra info. Tree harvesters can only harvest 2 types of trees spruce and old pine. some tree harvesters are not capable of cutting full size trees. There grabs are to small. I haven't fully tested yet but in my play throughs i think I'm earning most per tree with 10m lengths.
If you plant trees in a field, do they benefit from any kind of field prep? (Plowing, fertilizer, etc.) Or is field prep completely unnecessary with trees? Would this apply to poplars as well?
The tree harvesters only cut down 2 types of trees I read somewhere. The spruce and 1 other I cant remember off the top of my head. Something to keep in mind
Dude I cut down a bunch of oak trees and I cannot for the life of me clear them with no tools. The chainsaw cut th down and now they are all over the road. Any advice on how to get rid of them. I've tried everything
Skid steer is the only thing I use because the rest are garbage imo (the controls make it garbage) Just downloaded a ramp mod for it to be able to load the big trailer
Hello FC, I like your videos and your work. They are very helpful. On a different note, maybe someone can give some pointers/tips/help on below: I planted some trees, to do some carpentry. The matured and I cut all of them and left them spread across the land. I don,t know why, but the game is lagging whenever I am near those logs. I didn,t pay attention as to why that may be, but when I cut them, but my PS5 crashed a lot. It kept kiciing me out of the game and requested me to send out a bug report. Any ideas as to why? I wouldn,t say I have that many MODS installed. Maybe less than 20. Def not more than that.

Hey farm cop got a question can you plant actual popular trees in this game or just that weird type popular trees ... I was grinding up trees around my property and found popular tress but can't plant them ?
When I cut a tree with the chainsaw it goes down fine but when I start to cut the branches or the tree itself the tree changes in a piece of art with spikes and it is nearly impossible to do anything with it.
cranes and all fine movement are made to use with controller. typical xbox controller will make everything much easier, also driving much more enjoyable.
Twin joysticks when using the harvesters are an absolute game changer. Makes it a joy to use, but probably not something most would do unless solely focused on forestry.
As a Stihl dealer, I am somewhat disappointed that the only Stihl chainsaw available is the MS 261. This is supposed to be a game where you can use tools that you wouldn't normally get to try. Gimme the MS 500i!
I came across an issue where no matter what type of tree I tried to cu using the forestry machine, (owning the property the tree was on), I kept getting an incompatability tree message. (Excuse my spelling). So I am wondering is it only a certain type of tree? I even tried different cutters but.. Works fine with a chainsaw. Just won't work with the Forestry Cutters machines.
I have a question… for some unknown reason I get the message that I have to many trees when I try to put a tree on any map… it just started this… I have fs22 console… thank you for your time and expertise
Maps have a tree limit on console. You need to cut down some trees so you can plant new ones. Easiest way is to use the tree devourer with a trailer hooked to your tractor. The tree devourer will grind a tree into chips and you can grind the stumps. I use it to clear cut trees like the birch elm and willow. Mod is on console and pc. 👍
Anyone know of any regrowth mod by the way? I want to get into the forestry side of the game, buuuut I do not feel like planting boring straight lines of trees as I cut down the forest. I feel like it's more realistic to not cut more then say 25% - 50% of the forest each year and have it grow back naturally. I found one mod that at least allows for manual planting, so it would take out the straight-lines-of-trees-issue, but having to remove all the stumps and replant everything manually still seems like too much of a hassle. If you clear entire sections you would have to do that in real, but if you take down ten trees every once in a while and leave the stumps, shouldn't nature be able to bounce back by itself?
those expensive forestry tractors and tools are all so nice but i had much much better luck using a mod or 2 and a regular tractor no forestry equipment.. sort of realistic sort of not can be floppy.. front loader attachment on nice fancy heavy (heaviest but fastest tractor) add 7 ton weight to back ok few mods i think 7 ton and 3.5 ton are both mods but still worth it...add 3.5 to front and mod front loader tool ez lift i forget the exact name it looks like an upside down forklift attachment sort of without the plate. uses tensionbelts. wheel loaders are nice can definitly handle the weight you need atleast 20 tons to move trees without supper floppy movments. wheel loaders are a pain to steer when ligning up the logs to put in trailer use a flat bed dont use the log trailer.. pain to lift over and drop into unless you use a ramp. get all your trees lined up tedius i know but its much faster maybe took 2 hours and i filled a saw mill with like 210,000 liters of wood over 30 trees or so. in game time x2 speed. 2 hours. with the expensive equipment it took me 8 hours like 6 trees all the ligning up re ligning up because of the way wheel loaders turn its like no matter what when you release the turn it moves the logs out of position all the time this is all done with controller. plus getting neat wood piles sucks with the tree harvester and a tractor. used chain saw group them the tractor can pull from forest easily using same tool lign up strait with a strait line to backout of forest with clear of logs or use yarder. some hickups from trunks use front and back weights.. the front weight is small enough to not block your edges between trees and perfect to push logs. put it in the dowm position. also instead of constantly struggling toput the front loader tool down low enough to push logs but not to low to lift your tractor and throw your steering off and constantly unalign your neatly stacked trees use the weight its always at the right height and can bw lifted and relowered at 1 button push. much better. always. push logs use it to find the center of gravity point before lifting too...use regular tractor.. gently push logs if 1 end moves further then the other move to slower moving end untill you can push the group of logs in strait line thats center gravity point attch tension bellts i like to put my trailer end up to the end of 4 trees at a time group them in 4s as you pull them from forest line into your tree loading area big flat no stumps works best. cut the other end by eye matching trailer lenghth l9ng flatbeds like 14.5m i believe, on trailer for hauling cut to trailer length of flat bed trust me youll like the flat bed better too if you just try it... now 4 logs push them close get the loader attachment connected with belts to the logs flat not bundled 4 only at a time make a flat raft sort of, of 4 logs grab up logs lay flat on flat bed dont release just yet, lign it up set flat on bed get out put 1 belt on each end of trailer while belts still fastned on tractor tool. then release after that once trailers connected, visualy make sure the belt you add to the trailer wraps around each set of logs before releasing the tractors tension belts it sjows a decent representation of what the belts are holding onto. repeat this process and you can fit like 28 logs very neatly stacked every single time once hauled put that tool back over but dont attach tension belts use it to hold the logs in place and cut to size you can do this as you add them to f8nd a way to eye ball measurments.. do not use the belts from tool to close to trailer like 50 foot away is to close sort of gkitchy always catchs the trailer even 50 ft in game away.if you own the saw mill you cant sell logs amyways just like in real life not to yourself that is. so log sizes dont mater it goes by liters and your output is planks and saw dust so log length is useless for sales haul trailer sized logs. using this setup i had way more control over pulling logs from forest laying them down next to eacg other you news a hwavy weight must use atleast a 7ton but a front end 3.5 ton definitly helps too to much bouncw if not.
Another idea for gameplay. Plant a big old forest. Wait a couple of years for them to grow and earn the money to buy fancy equipment. Be a millionaire....simple

I don't do Forestry instead I use Tree B gone mod to shred trees so I can make fields bigger... FS 2015 had an amazing mod wood chipper that could take trees in entirely... Farming base game chippers are a pain to get the wood into them
