This ship is beautiful, and as usual, your presentation is very informative! It is definitely oriented toward families with young children. We won't be scheduling anytime soon. There will be too many unsupervised children running around and into people.
My wife and I just completed a Wonder of the Seas cruise, and I made reservations for next year after school starts in most areas. Hopefully, there will be fewer kids running around.
My husband and I booked the family infinite ocean view with balcony for our kids. We really wanted the ultimate room but they were all taken. Either way it will be a fun trip.
I prefer standard balcony cabins. I’m going on this ship but not when it first comes out. The reason why I prefer standard balcony because I want to view a sunset and it gets my feet wet for balcony cabins and I just want to try out Royal Caribbean for the first time. I never been on a Royal Caribbean ship before so this is my first cruise onboard Icon or onboard Royal Caribbean in general. I did sail onboard Carnival Paradise back in 2013 so that was my first cruise.
Snagged our Interior for Sept 24 for around $2373. But will be watching for price reductions in the coming 19 months until we go. As long as there is a balance due you should be able to take advantage of these drops. Maybe even snag a Royal Up bid for a balcony by then. Long wait, but I feel this ship is worth it. Good Luck!
I cant wait, Ocean View Balcony is what we just booked for January 27, 2024!! I was surprised on price, For my family of 4 it was only $700 more than Odyssey, I was a no brainer, Just for reference it was $5700 for 4 of us. Thank You for all the great videos
When taking a cruise and in the room, we’re either sleeping, napping or getting ready to leave. Rarely do we use a patio. A window is good enough for the natural light. Relaxing and enjoying the views are done in various areas of the ship! Save your money!
I tell you when I hear people make the same comments it’s because they spend no money and get less than desirable rooms if you had a suite you would spend time there and have a great time it’s all about the cruise date on prices
Having a balcony really MAKES the cruise for me. I enjoy sitting outside in my own space enjoying a sunrise with coffee or a sunset with a glass of wine. I don’t think it is a waste of money at all. I would not cruise without a balcony. It is simply a matter of personal taste. My husband and I do not use the water slides or go to many shows, but the serenity of having peaceful time on the ocean is hard for us to pass up.
So excited for our Infinite Balcony! I love a balcony but to be honest we haven't sat out there for very long. I love the idea of opening the window to hear the ocean but being able to sit inside!
Ultimate family townhouse, 80K plus.. We just sailed last week an booked our trip on Icon and we asked the price. The royal suites were about 70k plus. Just FYI. :)
We are booked on Icon for April 2024. We booked a sunset corner suite and got an amazing deal. After our sailing on Allure 2 weeks ago in the Royal Loft Suite, I wanted to upgrade us to the Royal Loft Suite on Icon. For 3 of us on Icon it was going to be almost $110k. Took some time to think about it…. And *BAM* it was booked a few days later. Our sailing is now fully sold out. 😳
I really wish R.C and other cruise lines would add more single's cabins. I know Norwegian has them, but they are all inside cabins with a "Virtual Window".
Celebrity's Edge Class ships have single balcony cabins - they're smaller than standard balconies, and some of them are obstructed by the tops of the lifeboats, but they're amazing!
Current lowest prices for Icon of the seas bookings for 2024 for a seven day cruise... all prices per person for a seven day cruise... Interior: $2058, Outside View: $2318, Balcony: $2559, Suite: $3937.... Your minimum price per day for an interior cabin is around $300/day on the Icon. They are really proud of this ship!!! What's missing are 3 and 4 day cruise options starting in that sub $600/per person category. You can find those deals on Royal Caribbean's other new giant ship Utopia of the Seas, with rates as low as $135/day, but for the new Icon it appears they are only doing seven day cruises in 2024 starting.... I would think there would be a smaller gap between Icon and Utopia pricing.
There is something for everyone here. I can't afford any of the suites but there are affordable cabins here for families that will still be great. Ship looks like a ton of fun. Hopefully one comes to NJ someday, if it can fit under the Varrazzano?
I know this comment is 7 months old but I just got off Oasis of the Seas and that ship recently started doing sailings from NJ! We fit right under the Varrazzano!
Sorry RC but you are promoting this is a family friendly but the rooms that hold 5 or more are way out of reach for most families. So most are still going to have to book adjoining cabins. So unless you have really deep pockets those family suites are way too costly. Two of my kids have a family of 5.
A lot of those are already sold out so I guess some families can afford to save $ toward final payment for them! We have a full 19 months before our cruise. Start a vacation savings plan and go for it.
You get what you pay for. If you want to afford a suite like that you'll have to time the trip to be in down season and make more money. That being said, when cruising I hardly spend any time in my room, so even if I had unlimited resources I probably wouldn't splurge for the suites with a butler unless it was a super big trip because room service is really quick on Royal Caribbean.
@@commonsense246 Yes, I imagine there are those who can afford it. I don't have anything against that. If we had the funds to do so I'd jump at the chance. From what I've seen on other posts that townhouse family cabin is going to run about 50,000 per person. I'd have to put a second mortgage on our house for just my husband and I. Let alone adding three or four children to the mix. 😳😂
@@Ian-yf7uf We also spent very little time in the cabin so we do inside nearly all the time. When we have done a balcony, it was only used to dry out wet clothes.🤠. We are Diamond level with RC, so sail with them often.
It looks like a beautiful ship. But probably too expensive for my blood. Also I wish they would’ve made single cabins. NCL has very nice single cabins. I think that RC could have incorporated this on this ship. Thanks for the video.
Just booked on the May 25th, 2024 sailing after watching, thanks a lot! Now to decide if the Key is worth it with the hefty $45/per day per guest? Lol last Royal cruise for us was on Majesty and much shorter. I'm sure you have a video somewhere I'll just have to find haha
My question is: with this ship, are there anything for the solo traveler? Everything that has came out is for families and that's wonderful. But many who travel are solo travelers. It just feel this ship is not for the solo traveler at all.
I can''t imagine why a single would even consider getting on that boat when there are SO many other options. It's designed from bottom to top with families in mind.
Was excited until I saw the prices. I'm usually one to splurge on everything, especially my cruises, but when I saw the prices for the balcony, I just couldn't book. I can do 3 cruises In a balcony, to the same locations with the same duration. I personally will only do Icon for overseas 9-12 days
Will stick to RC’s smaller ships. The prices are ridiculously high. Im happy sailing on the Enchantment, Grandeur, Radiance and Voyager class ships. They are more within my budget. Also going to start with a little migration to Celebrity as I prefer a more traditional type of cruising.
I would love to have a balcony right beside a waterpark so I could get dizzy by the smell of chlorine and listen to kids screaming all day long sounds super fun
I looked at booking in March 2024. The price is higher than other ships going to the same islands. So I ask myself, is it worth it to pay that much more for this new experience? It will be my personal debate for several months.
Great video. had some friends that went and they told me never to go. They said it was so expensive that it was actually shocking and comical. Four friends went and to give you an example they went to a little ice cream section and got 4 milkshakes..84.00 plus tax. The food for the price was the most disappointing thing they said it was so bad on everything from the food, and entertainment to additional activities it just killed the fun and the experience. One of my buddies said they could have all flown biz class and stayed at a villa in the Bahamas with everything included or had a customer trip for at least half the price ...at least( this included a chef). The cost for each couple was about 36k, they were in suites not including all the other stuff. obscene completely.
I'd only go on this ship during the off season when there won't be as many children lol. Otherwise it seems like it'd be a noisy nightmare! Especially with how some of the cabins are positioned near the noisiest areas of the ship.
Don't like the infant balcony because on a traditional balcony you can shut the door and keep the inside cool while you're out on the balcony. With the infant balcony you're opening a big window and there goes all your cool air and the inside heats up fast and your room AC won't keep up. Just keep the traditional balcony's!!
I'm a little sad they didn't make the premier sailing for 2023. I gamble (decently) and I've been getting free cruises from them. And I had a free one for 2023 that I was saving for Icon. Guess I gotta use it on something else and hope I get one for 2024
Everyone should have the right to afford a good vacation. Sometimes it feels like only those who pay more get all the bling and for the average just maybe some of the good things. Like everyone works hard enough to also get to relax and cruising just like flying should be more affordable to everyone else. Not all of us are millionairs. 😒 Love the ship 💕
If anyone wants a reference, i did a mock booking for the Ultimate townhouse suite for next year in Late July (on the cusp of hurricane season) It was 110k for a 7 night western carribean cruise 😭😭😭 I couldn't even book the damn things a year in advance
Mike, call your Contacts at RCL and tell them to Fire Mr Desouza & rethink their new USELESS DINER MENU. You should have seen the uproar in the Diamond lounge after 2 nights of the sailing. Diamond members + were pissed at the diner changes after being LOYAL to ROYAL for MANY YEARS !
Unfortunately i am from not ritch country so i go 2 times a year on MSC because that is what i can afford but i must sail on this at least ones. But i am afraid that if i sail on this i will be spoiled and then MSC will be bad for me after that
Royal Caribbean has always been a family cruise line. This isn't anything new in that the line caters to families. So I don't ever expect to see an adult only ship.
@@webjammer1 i'm 13 but honestly my parents deserve an only adults cruise dang every time we go on they just get in the worst room always a kid screaming through the walls
Honestly j don't get why you need such a big room because when I went on a cruise on symphony a couple years ago my family of 4 just got an ocean view and we just used the room for sleeping. So unless you have a big family or you like to spend time in your room. It's a waste for q big room
Hi do you know if the Infinite balcony rooms will have the beds near the balcony area. Or are they always door, bed, sofa, balcony. I found out on the Wonder, regular balcony rooms are flipped sofa/ bed layouts
Wow. I love this ship so much. I. Wish it was my cruise! But it is way too overpriced for poor families that want to go on your big cruise not the others that they think are lame so probably on her first 5 voyages lower the prices. Thank you.
As someone who’s never been on a cruise bc I suffer from motion sickness so it’s always kinda been on my mind so I have a fear of not enjoying the experience how bad is the motion sickness on something this big??
I wonder, who pays for a 40k cabin on a cruise.... I mean... rich people have mostly their own private ships, and if not, they could rent it, and if they want the slides and casino and all that... they could do it anywere in the world instead of a gigant floating mall
