Im actually in the middle of designing a news/blog section for a client on their site and these were some amazing talking points and things to consider when designing a more engaging blog. Thank you!
Awesome! Keep in mind that you don't need to go full crazy parallax (I wanted it ;)) and just using the interlaced visuals every 2 paragraphs boosts engagement of blogs big time.
That's definitely a good point! Thank you for bringing that up. I agree the parallax definitely makes it feel more dynamic and fun. I might include some subtle parallax but i wanted to make it easy to be reused across different posts but not feel super "template-y" at tye sams time which is obviously easier said than done haha. And im not sure if the client will always have imagery that works for a crazy style parallax. I really like the interlaced imagery point you mentioned too! Definitely great things to think about! Thank you again and keep up the awesome work!
Who said that?! What travesty is that! :D :D But at the same time, a blog is a little different to a sales website. I do like shifting views like that though :)
I don't really agree with the way Michal presents his ideas sometimes but most of the time low conversions have to do with bad copy and bad "framing" of the value of the service. A beautiful website will still undoubtedly increase your conversions if your copy is already good.
Pop-up blogs for the win. Thank you for sharing the wisdom. Actually heard of Framer just yesterday and i was blown away and your input just comes right on time
Thanks!! Much appreciated as they take forever to create but I do enjoy making them too. It allows me to step out of the typical computer typing / rectangle moving stuff. :)
Wooow, the quality of this material exceeded my expectations! It is really engaging. You can see that you worked hard on this film. I think that this is probably a better way, to post less frequently but in such great quality! I like how you use promts to generate images. I would be delighted if you added them to your AI course. Have a beautiful day!
I'll probably share my prompting method at some point in that course - good idea. As for the video - I took a different approach to videos lately, but this pause wasn't due to that - it was necessary for another reason :)
I believe there are two ways to address the challenge of capturing people's attention in blog articles. The first approach is to cater to those with shorter attention spans by incorporating more images and animations-similar to the design of a children's book. The second approach is to focus on writing in a way that engages readers, even without visual aids, and to accept that some people simply won't invest the time to read and fully understand your content. Personally, I've always aimed to improve the quality of my writing, hoping it enhances the reader's ability to absorb information without the need to "dumb down" my content. I’m not suggesting that adding images and animations diminishes the quality of content, but in my view, it caters to an increasingly attention-deprived culture, and I don't want to contribute to that mindset-either for my readers or myself.
This is why I am not going "over the top" here really - there's only 3 highly visual sections and the rest is pretty normal. A nice header like that has the potential to keep people more interested. And sure - great writing will prevail but at the same time poor image choice will lead to a lot of people missing that great writing altogether.
Honestly, I really like what you did and the creative process that took place. And I agree with you regarding the need to rethink a format that is becoming very boring and uninviting. Now when I see the creative process for an article, it can be a turn-off, because it takes too long in my opinion. However, what could really be a real step in terms of a new way of consuming a blog is to transform this article into a video story format which could be a new way of communicating with its audio while keeping the spirit that you have in mind. Especially this type of format once written down and reusable in many ways in various formats. In fact, I prefer to create content that will take me time and that can be reused in various ways. POV
Love this, do you have more content doing design the building in framer... thanks so much!!! Also I really appreciate you finding a way to avoid the dreaded wall of text, i see often. I am going to replay this.
Awesome! Of course the wall of text breaking is more important than parallax - in the long run this is what got me my millions of medium article views :)
Malewicz, heads up for your framer "the end of influencers" is not optimized for large screens and on my 2560 width screen everything looks broken including clouds and everything else :D Its very beautiful when i make it smaller though
I have yet to add that larger breakpoint, for now it's just 1120 and mobile as the video took a lot of time. iPads and large displays are coming soon too :)
I'd write in such a blog :) Technically it's Medium which just needs a certain type of multi-layered images. How to enable this feature - that's the only question. Those who want it - can use it. Others can stick to default images.
Would be amazing if Medium allowed for stuff like that but it's not as easy to do well within a CMS so I don't think we'll see a full on platform enable stuff like that. But one can dream ;)
Thanks a lot for this awesome tutorials. Sir making img asserts without backroud is the biggest task when creating web. Please make a video about how to use mid journey and removing background using tools.
Thank you! I also wanted to create blog posts like this... I've just finished reading the post, a few of the images like the astronaut or you looking at the mountains keep popping in and out when I scroll
I follow a very interesting blogger in a niche problem and he often posted GIF animation in the middle of these articles. It's horrible when you are a reader and focus on the text.
If it's right between text blocks it can be disturbing, but I try to actually give it ample whitespace so when you scroll to the gif you don't even have that much text in view.
Very cool, but... the tops of the clouds are getting chopped off leaving some really ugly flat tops to the clouds as the introduction to your page! Might want to address that.
@@MalewiczHype Yes, fixed, but... just a heads up: it's happening at the bottom of the page as well in case you didn't catch it. Also: the pull quote with your pict overlaid... missed a bit of the green screen. It looks like you're using a lot of automatic selections... which can be fine on a busy background, but can look a bit messy on a plain bg (though, I guess most people wouldn't notice).
@@MalewiczHype Ahh.. I didn't quite pick up on the fact that it was a work in progress, thought it was a finished example (just a little rough because it wasn't a real job). BTW: I'm sure this has to have been done before, but what about hiding easter eggs in things like that computer screen? I'm guessing it wouldn't help conversion, but would knowing a site is full of easter eggs help engagement?
I wonder what's the quality of accessibility in website generated with such tool - this is required for disabled people who are blind or who have to use website without a mouse. Your website does not respect user preference for reduced motion - this may cause headaches for some people. Also, what about SEO? I took a look at your linked website and SEO fundamentals are broken - subheadings are implemented as paragraphs instead of correct h1/h2/h3 tags. Your site could look pretty but it may not work for disabled people and may not be properly indexed by Google. However, your page has some bugs, at least in my browser. Clouds are strangely cut in the middle and some non text elements are misaligned, justified to left instead of center. Basically, besides accessibility and SEO even the appearance itself is kinda broken.
There are tools to add accessibility features to it and my take is to create a dedicated version of the blog for people with disabilities - it will also load faster. As for bugs - this is currently only created for two breakpoints, I stated it above the link, I'm still working on other breakpoints here. It's more of a proof of concept / exploration than a fully finished post (yet)
@@MalewiczHype > my take is to create a dedicated version of the blog for people with disabilities This is not how websites are expected to work. Websites should be accessible by default, without need for separate variants.
Maybe most websites but I don't believe in a lower common denominator and I will be making dedicated versions - including one for screen readers and one with black background and yellow text. That way everyone gets an experience suited for them, not averaged.
Yes, you are able - but this exercise is not about (yet) making a final-final version - it's about exploration of ideas. I am still working on it - as it's stated in the description :)
This is all very interesting of course, but no real business will spend resources to create such pages. Articles are usually written for volume and greater audience coverage
There should be a balance between speed and the wow factor for blogs. But generally in most cases people don't get to your blog post from Google anyway, they usually already know you and click from your site. And the question then is - how do you keep them reading and not click away. But yes, speed in general is important to take into consideration when you rely on SEO heavily (some niches do)
@@MalewiczHype You should add more semantic html elements, (like an actual element for the heading and for the subheadings). And maybe a for the qoutes.
While it looks really engaging, you got a lot of technical issues on the page. On my screen (2k), images are aligning to left, there's a huge space/gap between these yellow cards, the only correct thing is the long walls of text. I guess we can call it blog post 1.5? Till it's mature/stable enough to be 2.0. Thanks for the inspiration.
I use wordpress to design websites but where i can acutally learn and master the web designing like you please share the resources i dont want to be like a uiux or any like that i just love websites so i want to learn the web designing and design principles
