The game needs to be rebalanced heavily. It feels like they didn't play the game. So many things are over valued to the point of being pointless. Other things are blatantly OP for almost no cost.
The rune system needs a rework. I agree that for magic you only need water. It does help to have the 3 star light for group attack up and heal over time. Then a low level dark rune for damage over time. Very good against bosses.
I almost dropped this game. The beginning just drags. God I hate those mines. And at first I wasn’t feeling some of the characters (some of the over the top voice acting isn’t my thing) But it won me over. I still don’t like everyone but as the stakes ramped up I started to believe these people cared about each other. That fuckin duel on the bridge, that I *almost* won, man that was a good scene. I’m all in, now. I love this game. Mi definitely don’t get this “almost everything sucks” view. I guess if you only use basic attacks and heals, then sure, but why play like that
The rune system in this game is so busted and not good . The restrictions and mostly useless slot / abilities have it being such a task to deal with and limits the chars so badly . Characters barely feel different with so much generic move sets and skills . Wished they allowed for awakenings on those chars restricted to only 4 slots to increase the amount they had . Plus the desperado guy would have been amazing had he had awakening where he now used fists as well and stopped restricting himself to kicks only.
I haven't had anything good to say about any of the abilities so far except maybe the SP attacks. Magic attacks basically do the same damage as physical attacks in my experience and hero combos are actually worse than phys attacks. Basically the optimal strategy is just attacking and use a healing spell once in a while. Makes the battles kind of bland.
regarding the grapple runes. the armor pierce one does 1.25x damage and completely bypasses armor. grapple on its own only bypasses 25%. so that armor pierce is actually pretty good. and yes the descriptions in this game are awful and usually unhelpful.
The rune slot and attribute's for characters in this game is so weird and sometimes so frustrating when you find a character you like, their base stats are garbage and so is their rune slots so you can't even try to build them to be somewhat useable. I truly hope they fix this in the next game.
Yuferius is a late game Yusuke, stat growth in this game is not lineair. You have a few early game monsters like Yusuke and you have late game monsters like Mellore. Mellore > lvl 70 is one the best mages, while in that same level range Yusuke suddenly becomes one of your worst characters in his role.
i like how they added these runes system into this game , i mean i always compare it to suikoden 😅 i love the game a lot but i also agree with you on how bad is the runes in the game they should've made them better with stronger enemies the magic was one of the best parts of suikoden
I just wanted to power up Veisskin to do the old fashion dominate the final bosses. This game feels like it won't really let me do it, at least not yet lol.
Momo and the rune that makes his magic +50% at expense of his magic and physical defense, + the back row awakening rune, and a tank = 2000+ damage per spell. He is busted.
and can you explain Mio to me i don't understand how's she so weak compare to the other characters, i like her on my team i think her design is cool but she's just weak in everything, BUT early in the game when i was fighting a boss she finished him with one attack of her rune skill , she dealt 750 dmg i was shocked , is it an RNG thing for her to deal random dmg or what?
There is a very good Sword Skill - Reckless Slash. Costs 3 diamonds to slot. 3 SP heavy damage that reduces enemy defense for 3 turns. It turns a a few sword users like Sabine and Valentin from meh to pretty good.
One of the proiblems with runes in teh game is that 1) It has magic affinity like Suikoden 1 does and 2) It doesn't communicate magic affinity, like Suikoden 1 did. So you have no idea who scales with what, or what spells scale and what doesn't. Also the team up skills are next to useless for the most part, they're seriously not worth the cost -at all-.
@purplatypus7405 yeah I keep trying to justify using lian but she is constantly just bad she seems to stun a little more often but she has less health and defense than the healers just feels weird
Setting mages that have elemental/long range damage to use 0 MP on Auto and they really aren't that bad. Falward for his speed and Zabi because his water auto attack seems to hit hard
How do I upgrade the lvl on the inventory? or where does that seer from Daphan set up at the castle I cannot find her to continue the child thief sidequest. I am basically just wasting time til POE2 is released in june
You have to walk in the city you build on a specific path that triggers a cutscene with Faye (thief) and two soldiers and they talk about the seer and only then she joins you.
The rune/magic system is probably one of the worst parts of the game and a major contributor to how slow/sluggish battles feel IMO. Unfortunately I don't see/anticipate them doing anything about that, and even if they did I'll probably be done with the game before then (no interest in the DLC).
Appreciate the explanation however it is all over the place ✌🏼 Could have explain what type of rune slots and what runes can be used instead of jumping from to another. We have not fully grasped how runes work in Eiyuden just yet.
The Warrior's and Mage's Pinnacle Runes are very good on characters who already have good STR and MAG respectively. They give a 50% buff for 4 turns. Pretty sure Rune of Armor Pierce bypasses defense, which is why he can deal full damage. They did conflate the terms-- should use the term Shield instead of Armor for the letter that can break. Grapple bypasses Shield, not defense.
