Ha,ha!!True, it is up there for sure!,They are masters at that. There are hundreds of great titles, but one fave among many is: "It Travels Faster Through Thin Hair".

I would've been happy if GBV had released this album instead of Do The Collapse proper. It's raw and lofi like the early stuff. Picture Me Bigtime is beautiful in this form, better than the produced version imho

Thanks a lot for posting this. Listening to the band in this form affords a more direct connection to the earlier material. (at least some of whats here) In my opinion it dispels the "earlier stuff is so much better" argument somewhat.

Something about this feels more 90s while the produced version seems to have a style that reflects productions of the y2k era which gives me more of a pseudo nostalgia from it for me personally. I could just be a delusional pothead too maybe in terms of believing it is specifically a sound that reflects a slightly different era with each version while not truly knowing the actual differences in the equipment or styles used myself at all

I disagree these demos are all better than the Ocasek-produced tracks, Teenage FBI without the synth in the chorus sounds lacking. Hold On Hope clearly would need a bit of a job, even on a final lo-fi version from this, same for Surgical Focus. It's nice to hear Focus with a bit of grit, that does seems a bit better. In the end a lot of the vitriol Collapse gets is from fan's underground syndrome.

Lots of this is better in its raw form, gotta admit. Isn't there a different version, a much better version, of "Shrine to the Dynamic Years" on one of the Suitcases (which I don't have with me)?
