My favourite GBV of all time. At least in this millisecond. They have so many ephemeral, shape shifting little tunes that come charging back at you and make you say.... "Wow, how did I forget how brilliant this is??" I appreciate when folks list their fave GBV songs. It's how I found this one. Hey hey glad girls (and boys) tell us three songs by the band that are even better. I want a new gem that I have missed!
easily one of thr very best of the best GBV songs ever. it's the story of the middle aged musicians finally getting recognition with bee thousand and alien lanes. super poignant. possibly my favorite guitar solo ever.
Do The Earth doesn't make my top 50, but, the best thing about GBV is that??? It could be a top ten. Just because you make me go back and listen. That won't be good enough. But you're a fan and I'll go back and listen again. And I bet you I learn something new. Thanks for the comment brother/sister.
For some reason there are no reply links on anyone's messages, but apparently the solo here was performed by Scott Taylor, one of the guitarist/vocalists from the Memphis band, the Grifters (amongst various other bands and his solo stuff). Tripp Lamkins, the Grifters bassist, also plays the lead guitar on "The Official Ironmen Rally Song" which was also on "Under the Bushes". And of course they toured with them and were on at least two splits with each other back in the mid-90s. GBV is credited as picking the cover art for their Eureka E.P. and Tobin Sprout's art was used as the back cover for their final album, Full Blown Possession.
@fenderwoods Strange. I have no clue why I put that it was off Tigerbomb :/ I think iTunes messed up my album covers and I just assumed it was on it. thanx for pointing that out.
