Robert Pollard kicking the air is my spirit animal.

I found this song and band because of The Strokes music video for Someday. I saw Slash in the video and searched google to see if it was actually him. It said Slash and Guided by Voices were in the video. So I looked them up and found this song. It has been on repeat ever since. I sing it all the time while walking around. I’m a 37 year old that has listened to tons of music and just heard of these guys in 2024. 😢

How cool is this band man,,,seriously it’s the first time I’ve heard them and instantly I am a fan. Why?,,grown up during 90s grunge and many alternative groups and it just has that sound of the 90s clever little riffs and hooks with great lyrics thrown in. Fantastic anyone with taste and brains will love this band.

Look, WE all know that Robert Pollard is a musical genius. 20, 30 years from now, true music fans and scholars will finally catch up, and tell their friends, "Have you ever heard of a band called Guided By Voices?" GBV deserves their place in Rock & Roll History and their legacy is hopefully insured!

I was reading about the cutup style of making writing and how it relates to modern wizadry ( jack kerouack and will burroughs styles ... ) how they made recordings and chopped them up because they believed it was the only way to break out of the linear recording of history within time-space. And then I remembered there was a wizard motif on the album cover....

I can't believe it took me this long to discover this band after hearing and seeing the Someday music video by The Strokes nearly 20 years ago.

This gives me goosebumps and makes me deep saudade in the best ways possible
