I'm currently enjoying a bottle of 2016 Herrenweg Pinot Blanc by Francois Baur. I go to the Harlem Wine Gallery every Friday to discover something new, and I'm so excited! 😱 Usually, I prefer red or sweet wines like Lambrusco or Riesling, which are super fun and sparkly, but not exactly versatile. I'd previously never heard of a Pinot Blanc, but I'm very pleased with this wine! It's significantly dryer than I'm used to, but not as acidic as I'd expect a white wine to be. It's not too serious. As a beginner wine taster, I like flavors I can identify easily. They make the most sense to me. The gentleman helping me shop called it a "full-bodied" white wine, which I'd never heard of before! Now, I understand. It's definitely not sweet, but as I enjoy it with roasted mushrooms, it hits the top of my palate with a brightness I hadn't tasted before. It's creamy mid-mouth, and fortunately doesn't taste of oak (my least favorite flavor component). The smell is grassy and moderately herbaceous/botanical, so I'm consistently surprised when the sip is light and bright and only slightly peppery. In my opinion, it tastes much sweeter than it smells, though it is by far not a sweet wine. I can't wait to try this with cheese. It could definitely stand up to creamy sharp flavors, or even funky ones! I look forward to experimenting this weekend. ...what a great educational video to enjoy while I explore a new region from the comfort of my tiny flat! 😊

Duct_Tape Heart Wow, I think this is the most amazingly concise and descriptive comment I have ever read, especially on RU-vid. If you are not already in the business of writing, you are depriving people of your unique and exquisite gift!!!

"Until 1871 Alsace was French" lolol. Check your history books. Alsace and Lorraine were German by virtue of Hapsburg pedigree.
