Hello People!
Guild Starfire III Neck Reset episode 2…….
When I talked about using a clothing iron to heat the fretboard extension, I placed the iron on the frets, not on the rosewood. I heat treated the neck before pulling the frets.

Like that guitar. Glad you got all the various wipes and dissolves out of your system in Part 1.

I don't think I could ever do that kind of work and be any good at it at all but it sure is a lot of fun to watch You.

Nice! If you look up the Safety Data Sheet for the GB accelerator it's safe from Cancer-causing ingredients.

Very nice work you did on this oldie Guild. Beautiful! I have an earlier serial number 1966, but fortunately it doesn’t need a neck reset, and plays pretty good. It’s always been kept in the case, so it’s still in good condition. I’m not qualified to do the work you did on this one, except the tuners, but I learned a lot, and it was really interesting.

The colour and all the fixtures and fittings remind me heavily of a Hofner Verythin I worked on from the same era. I can't imagine it is the case, but are they connected in some way?

Thank You Matthew! I don’t think I’ve ever worked on a Hofner or even heard of a “Verythin” so I don’t know but I’m a big fan of Paul McCartney and his Hofner bass 🤓

New sub, digging the content. And super glue is my favorite. It’s like pin or Brad nails for Norm Abram; why would I do a project without it?

Hi Scotty Thanks for the deep insight. I own exactly this Model from 1966 and have similar problems with the sjrinking of the binding. Was wondering if one can solve the problem. Can you say something about this issue. I would really appreciate it. Another question that I have is, where do I get an original metal pickup toggle switch head. Many greetings from Switzerland and thanks again for your valuable videos. Best, Marion

Thanks! I was too afraid of damaging the lacquer to try it but I normally warm the binding with a hair dryer, add titebond III, tape it down and heat it a little more. For the switch tip, search “switch tip” on the web!

@@harpethguitar Hey Scott, thanks for your super quick reply, very much appreciated. Glad to know that there could be a solution for the binding problem. I just searched the web for the switch tip. It's not an easy endeavor. Maybe best thing is to contact Hans from the Nederlands. All the best, Marion

Just discovered you. Randomly in my recommendations. Apparently you are right by my house. Crazy. I should bring you some guitars. Assume you do much simpler stuff than this too. Have a guitar I don't think the bridge is in the right spot. And 1 or 2 I probably need the frets leveled and crowned. Not high end or vintage guitars. You may not do that stuff. If you do....I guess let me know. I could walk there. I wouldn't, but I could.

Hey there, nice content!! I saw some Luthiers using solder to loosen the frets, do you think its a bad idea?
@harpethguitar

Thanks! Solder works great for pulling frets that were glued in place
