That man was 20 years old when he composed this rich and beautiful music. How sad to know he died at 24. We are being deprived of many treasures indeed.
There are some sublime passages in this work, especially from 3:40 to 6:15 . It reminds me of another composer (of many) cut down in his 20's, William Hurlstone. What might they have achieved had they been spared? Amazing composers!
My reply is 5 years later, but I hope you read it. A very long time ago I bought an LP with Hurlstone's Piano-Concerto and I can safely say it is one of my favourite romantic Ctos. Also on the LP are 'Variations on a Swedish Air'.
