Theses kits are a ton of fun, built many of the Guillows kits a s a kid over 35 years ago neat to see they are still available! What I found that worked good is to iron the plans flat and cover them with wax paper like you. Then put it all on a piece a drywall as the working surface and use small T-pins to hold the parts in position. Build up the entire piece, use a precision glue tip then hit all the joints with super glue then spray accelerant and in under an hour it was nearly ready for covering. Most difficult thing back then was the bad die cut and several parts always split!!

How you manage the super glue is amazing because you don't seem to get your fingers stuck to everything. Also how you just quickly made a detachable nose basing measurements on the fly so fast. I also never knew the bead bearing was supposed to be glued on. You make it look easy 💁🏼‍♂️

I have the Lancer kit and it has set on the shelf for 4 years now , the die cutting is almost as bad as the Sterling Ringmaster kit. After watching this build video ,I may just open it up, I have not build in 4 years..

Yeah the die cutting isn't great but it does build into a nice airplane.

Built this model as a kid, as I remember it flew really good. Have the electronics from a crashed Hobbyzone Champ, wonder if this could be good model for it, about the same size.

right now im burnt out on buikding even though wsmt to finsh a few birds.. Sig manufacturing is out of balsa wood for months. i only to build with there baksa cause its real soft and strong and easy to to cut. sitca balsa. but plandemic has slowed shipments to usa. sig plants hold up building there kits cause balsa shortage.

Anyone understand why the airfoil is 'bad' here? Looking at the stab ribs, they seem to have a pretty tear drop shape. What's wrong w/ them? How should they appear? Should the leading edge part of these ribs be fatter, ie taller before trailing off to the rear? Thanks. Wonderful channel!

The balsa structure was entirely assembled using cyanoacrylate (CA) glue. I recommend Bob Smith or Mercury brands, medium viscosity. The covering was attached using Randolph nitrate dope.

My friend, ive just started my interest in this and don’t even have schematic paperwork, but at least use some cork board and needles! It’ll help you greatly I’m sure. No need to hold everything down when you can just pin it :)

Arrow is excellent, also the Cessna 180 and Piper Cruiser. If you want something that really flies, look for a kit for a Gollywock. More expensive and not a Guillows, but they fly incredibly well, up to 4 minutes in calm air.

@@vmaksym by the way, here is an extremely nice kit for the Gollywock: retrorc.us.com/phantomfury-4-1-1.aspx It is very expensive but it is excellent. If you look on ebay, older kits of comparable quality do show up sometimes, and for lower prices. Also watch the Free Flight section of the rcgroups classifieds. Other great airplanes are the Lamb Climber, anything Lanzo, and Kordas. There are also many excellent P-30 kits available.

@@joshuawfinn oh man, thanks a lot. I just started my investigation about free flight planes, P-30 scale just fine for me. Pre-War Gollywock looks great, yes it is expensive, but I don't want waste a time with non-flying planes. PS: thanks for replays, I very like your work!

hi. you know if a aronca cheaif comet 54" is under 8 oz..? we are told rc us getting band soon.and will only be able to fly modles 8 oz or less only . they are making it where you have to have a pilots license in red tape to fly bigger ones or ban us all togeather soon. im looking at selling off and going back to rubber powered like yours but buy single channel rc. equipment.

Well two things. Yes, you can build it under 250g/8 oz with a little care, but more importantly, those regulations are literally unenforceable. The FAA and law enforcement just don't have the manpower to enforce, and they're not going to be able to walk around with scales to make sure your plane is the weight you say it is. Just like the 400' "rule", how do you know it's over 400' up? Altimeters aren't legally required, so can't enforce it. As an FYI, this makes a good case for never putting an altimeter or any other telemetry/logging tool in your airplane.

@@joshuawfinn i also wonder if you fly on privett propter if they can enforce it as well . i see what you mean about enfirceing it buy they are in nevada. cops shoot down drones and keep it if in tca.. but i dont do that. i manly got go fly for s bit and noby even kniws your there out in the mountains slope flying..

@@joshuawfinn i may have my guy scale some my vintage glider planes back down to like 50" so could keep them under 8oz.. the thermic 70 has same plans called thermic 50. be a nice micro rc from 1940s and will look cool and dont have to have a buss to haul it. lol. we thought about keeping my old sig heavy 40_60 kits and save for U cintrole of hang them up as wall art. like you said hard fir them to inforce it but they are in las vegas.. guy keeps flying into jet trafic here. sheif shoots them down with big drone gun. to bad those idiot rewened it us for all of us 😬
