Here we are with more Guilty Gear Strive info, and today its 10 essential tips to get you started in the game! There's tons of mechanics and depth for you to understand, and hopefully this video will help ease you all into it! Timestamps everywhere for those who would like to skip around.
Great video! My First ever Guilty Gear game, and pretty much my First fighting game (love the art style and characters, learning Faust) when i play dojo the whole left side fills up with button combinations + names, how Do i remove That? Dosen't seem like you got it.
@@guillermogarcia4131 - Best looking 2D fighting game out there. - Story is great, but it is convoluted. There is a recap/timeline in game to explain previous stories. - Gameplay is amazing. Each character is very unique. When you main a character, you can play it completely differently than others who main the same character. - Net code is probably one of the best out there. Only complaint is the small-ish roster of 15 at launch. But as I mentioned, each of them is very unique and takes time to master, so the cast feels bigger than it is, simply cause you need a lot of time to fully understand each character’s gimmick and potential.
What an awesome guide. Coming in with no knowledge of the game and never played guilty gear before, used these tips for 70% win/lose ratio on my first 20 rounds.
I have my week filled with stuff to do, and the game releases on friday on pc. Having your videos on the background is helping me keeping up the hype :)
That colour on nagoriyuki is sick! Thinking Of maining zato I know he's the hardest but his animations too clean with black and green eddie, plus he is va by Dio in Japanese and jotaro in English and has a stand it's got to be a reference right?
I mean, yes and no? Takehito Koyasu was voicing Zato before he ever voiced DIO, but the character is absolutely chock full of JJBA references besides that.
@@rekkuchi it makes so much sense, I never thought of it til now tbh lol would be cool if it was the plan have mat mercer do the English as a nod to JJBA, he's a cool character either way really enjoying learning his gameplay, lost my heart from rooflemonger as I edited it :(
@@dbfzato-1327 I mean, GG has always had nods to JJBA. I'm pretty sure Daisuke is a big fan. Axl does a Jotaro pose in this game with his Za Warudo super. Zappa's visual design was 100% a nod to Vanilla Ice, and Robo Ky literally had a super where he punches the shit out of the opponent while going "ORA ORA ORA ORA!"
@@rekkuchi I'm pretty new to GG got into it from dbfz, and I've now went back played xrd and XX to get ready for strive, it's cool there is so much reference to it. Makes sense as JJBA been round so long in Japan. Zato win pose is even JJBA style lol, I'm a fan of JJBA so this is pretty cool
Hearing about knockdowns thinking back to how I STILL instinctively "AB" when I'm hitting the ground. King of Fighters (And Soul Calibur too, with guard) have trained me too well here, apparently
The fact that you immediately get meter back on wall break is extra incentive to spend that super! Otherwise you’re just dropping your momentum. There’s been a few situations where I, even as a super beginner level player, was able to win neutral after a non-super wall break and clutch out a game.
Far as I can tell and this is a bit loose so dont expect it to hold every character: Heavy slash reversals are not throw immune, but regular slash ones are.
¿Can you do a short guide on button configuration for stick for GG Strive ? I feel the dash Macro is really good but since Ive been playing only DBFZ I really don't know which might be the more confortable configuration and how to RC and Burst...
well the thing is there is no "right" configuration, about everyone I know on stick is using their own layout. If you wanna use dash macro just put it in a place that feels comfortable to you, there is no "right" answer.
I don't know if you've already got something planned for this, but one thing I've been struggling with is how to deal with wake up pressure on a character without a DP, especially in the corner. As a Faust main, it feels like the strike/throw mix up is really punishing and basically good on all characters, so I'm always in a 50/50 between blocking or jumping. And if I don't have meter to FD, it gets even worse, since if I don't mash at some point my opponent can reset pressure until I get mixed. Watching high level players like Nage it seems they don't have this problem, so I know there's something I can do to fix this issue, but I can't figure out what it is. My current best guess is basically just don't get knocked down in the corner, which is obviously optimal but I'm not good enough to actually execute on it.
judicious use of faultless defense helps a lot. It creates a much larger amount of pushback on each hit on block than normal. But for the people with no invincible reversals, its part of the struggle.
You've sold this noob on jumping into this game sir so thank you! My only request in the future would be to add the controller input to supplement the auditory explanations which are great already. Thanks for the video and the future wins !
Still contemplating if I should get this game on PC/PS4 or PS5. I do own a PS5 but my stick didn't work with the PS5 version of the game. I will likely not buy a new stick (I'll probably get a hitbox style stick) until I can get a stick that natively supports PS5 titles. I don't know if I buy the PS4 version if I can update it to the PS5 version later. I want to attend beginner tournaments, but I have no idea if they will be played on PC or console.
Waiting on this game to download now. First fighter besides smash. Why are they called counter hits? When they aren’t “countering” an opponent or anything?
Love your videos dude. Stupid question where do you find preset for the controller I see that you can change the button layout but where do you create a preset ?
New fighting game time...lol. I love when new fighting games come out. The initial vanilla version b4 all the patches take place...wonderful times. Now I'm not new to Guilty Gear, but with the recent changes to it...it feels like a new game, in a sense. And one of the guys I look to, to keep my tech new is this guy right here Rooflemonger. B/c I'll tell u this...his guides and tips and tricks he did for Fighterz, really help me stay on top of my game. So I'm just say to say I can't wait until he gets to the character specific guides so I can better myself with the characters I wanna buss @$$ with (hopefully) & (respectfully) lol. Let's go out there and play some Guilty Gear Strive (rooflemonger voice)
As a fighting game newbie, should i buy Guilty Gear Strive deluxe edition for $20, or Tekken 7 ultimate edition for $20? I heard GG strive has much much better netcode compared to Tekken 7, which is very appealing to me. Is paying triple the price worth it?
Can't say the same about mine. The super/special inputs are killing my hand and work about half the time if that. I wish I could map quarter circles to buttons the same way dash can.
@@supermintsoda743 take your time with the input just do the inputs over and over in training when you see that they are clean start doing the special move and cancel it into itself if you can to practice the timing.
Plenty more coming for Strive as well naturally, I very much intend this to be THE channel for Strive. I will be streaming again tonight as well, starting around 7pm EST! This time gonna try nagoriyuki to mess around with a lot of his changes. 90% of my beta time was Potemkin, 10% was I-no, so time to spread the love a bit!
Ohhh, so THAT'S why they changed the gatling system. That makes a ton of sense - they want you using all the buttons in neutral. I like it. Lot of great tips here. I took notes. :)
im 4k ready and rearing to go... except some days where time is a factor no 4k cause each of these videos takes hours to upload cause the filesizes are insane at this resolution lol
This guy is amazing. I am a former tourney player and think I am at least advance in fighting games and i can easily say this guys content can make even pros either learn or gain an idea from his breakdowns. Keep it up
Nice video as usual! Dash macro is the ultimate feature I didn't know I need in a 2d fighting game. It's sooooo gooood! I'm still mad we didn't get frame data in training mode
Thanks rooflemonger! I preordered but it’s stressing me out that ultimate buyers get a head start today so I need this knowledge so I can be ready for Friday!
rooflemonger all your fgs guides are masterpieces. you're the mascot of all the fgc. your 1. guides 2. tutorials are outstanding overall 101%. are you doing 1. guides 2. tutorials for all the new fgs launching in the future too ???
I have a problem. First was hard to choose my main char, but now that I have it I don't fight online and keep being in the training mode. I think my main (Anji) is now quite ok, byt I always find a new video with a new combo that I need to test and then I go back to the training mode lol. This game is just awesome.
just realized something while watching your vid. Your voice and the way you speak. Sounds like Chef John at FoodWishes. It feels like im watching a cooking video for fighting games. Love the guide btw
