johnny looks like a cowboy, has a sword like a samurai, and is the captain of a group of pirates... it's like he's the culmination of what every little boy thinks is cool. and they're right, he's cool as hell.

The Key ABA carries is named Paracelscus and is actually a being of pure bloodshed and combat that latches onto people they deem worthy as a strong fighter and he essentially gaslights and tricks into constantly fighting to sate his bloodlust... He didn't need to trick ABA though. In fact ABA is so crazy and fights so often with out him influencing her that she actually scared him into mellowing out and now the very spirit of fighting begs ABA not to fight people at the start of matches. Also they're married.

Bedman? seems silly, but the lore behind it is actually pretty tragic. The bed robot was a creation by the little girls older brother, and one of his final acts before he died was programming it to protect her at any cost. By the time of Strive, it still follows its programming to protect her, but has begun acting strangely, and it’s very heavily implied that the brothers spirit is possessing it from beyond the grave to keep her safe. Just another tidbit, the brother was a playable character in the previous game. He was in your Xrd draft video from a while back.

Sin is only 4 years old. He is part Gear so he reached maturity very quickly. He was also born from an eyeball. Ky Kiske is his dad.

Asuka is actually the former main antagonist of the franchise. Sin is the half gear son of Ky Kiske and the Grandson of Sol via another character named Dizzy (Ky's Gear wife).

Johnny is actually also a pirate with his very own crew known as the jellyfish pirates. (May is one of the many members)

Really enjoy the appreciation for fighting games on this channel. It's nice to see so many different games in this extremely varied genre get the spotlight!

I see a lot of comments noting that Johnny is May's captain, but not a whole lot of mentioning that Johnny is who May's song ("I will follow you, non-stop love song") is about.

funny thing about Sin mentioning his mom and dad is alot of the franchise's playable characters are his family. Justice(grandmother, not in Strive), Ky(father), Sol(grandfather), Dizzy(mother, not playable in Strive so far), Jack-o(technically Justice), and depending on how you interpret their birth Ramlethal & Elphelt are his cousins, or aunts😅

Asuka is in gameplay.. a lot. Imagine you play Yugioh with 3 decks at the same time as your fighting style, that's exactly how he plays. Has over 30 or 40 abilities and yeah.. he's a lot

Heres the gist of these characters Bridget: Was born as a boy, but was raised as a girl to avoid execution due to a law in her hometown. Thats why in her song it talks about "I cant go home" Sin: He is canonically 5 years old, but he is half gear (a fictional race in the universe) and they grow big quicker than humans. Cuz of his age he is still very child-like and is all about wanting to grow big and strong. Bedman: He was a villain in past games who is deceased. He controlled the bed which he made as his primary way of fighting. Upon passing he programmed it to protect his younger sister who is the little girl, and its believed his soul possesses the bed now Asuka: Hes a big ass nerd who can do magic Johnny: Hes a pirate, cowboy, samurai. Basically just the ultimate cool guy Elphelt: She is just very happy and obsessed with love ABA: She is an artificial being created by a scientist and was left abandoned in a lab for 10 years which drove her to being psychotic. She eventually left the lab and found the key she wields, which is a sentient weapon used in historical wars. The key was the first being she ever met and she became obsessively attached to him, considering him her husband, and now hes just kinda stuck with her.

ABA barely dropped and I've been enjoying her a lot. Her volatile, feast or famine playstyle is a rush to pull off right.

Asuka is my favorite just cause hes got the coolest shoes. For no reason hes just wearing the dopest kicks.

I appreciate that ABA is genuinely unsettling. Lots of "crazy" girl characters in games and movies are portrayed as just being quirky and having just no social filter, and they aren't allowed to be anything more than that. ABA definitely does not have the same restriction. Also a bit of trivia for you: The Japanese voice actor for the giant key is also the producer and designer of the BlazBlue series.

A.B.A is a homunculus who was trapped at one point, thus the theme of keys. Paracelsus is a demon axe that she found one day and decided she liked essentially. He allowed her to free herself and now she's obsessed with him. He obsessiveness is so strong he morphed shapes into a key I think and it's why he gets all goopy. She also initially wanted to find a human body for him.

A.b.a is a homunculus not really human. Her love is a key. If you see their interaction with other player opponent, it easily fun and understand about this character

Sin Kiske is the kid of Ky and Dizzy and was raised by Sol Badguy. Also, he's 4 and according to him, born from an eye. You are now more confused. Elphelt, there is a lot going on with her plot wise. She's part of a group of sisters created by what is in essence a god (I'm glossing over the Backyard and the Universal Will because Guilty Gear is weird.) but her main thing throughout the series was finding a husband which she is VERY aggressive in doing. She actually had a fiancée who was in a death metal band, but she was a sleeper agent and her programming activated on her wedding day. So, the band thing is cool. kind of honor's her fiancée in a way A.B.A uh, it married Paracelsus (The key she's carrying around). Just too bad Paracelsus didn't actually consent to that. So ABA in Strive is kind of in her own world. Ironically, seems like she found understanding in Elphelt but both of them are a bit nuts so that checks out.

I like to imagine that their _Guilty Gear Xrd_ Intro/Overdrive reaction video so thoroughly confused them that they completely forgot about every character they saw there.

A.B.A. absolutely would not hook up with Johnny. You know why? Because she's with the _key,_ who is named Paracelsus. He's a sentient battle axe she found and fell in love with and he's just kinda along for the ride because he has no limbs and couldn't exactly leave if he wanted to.

Sin is Ky's exceptionally dumb son. It's not really his fault, Sin is half Gear thanks to his mother Dizzy so he's actually roughly 5 or 6 at the time of Strive so he's really just a hyperactive kid. He calls Sol old man because Sol took him under his wing as his pupil and he's also basically Sol's grandson.

Fun fact: Bridget used to be a boy in previous games. Not sure if it's the case in this game.

I wasn't expecting this video! I'll give some quick summaries here and save the details for when you hear their themes Sin Kiske is the half gear, half human son of Ky Kiske and Dizzy. He's only 5 years old but he grew to adulthood by age 3 due to his Gear genetics. He was raised by Sol Badguy meaning he's a mixture of the games two protagonists, and since he's Dizzy's son too, that makes him the grandson of the original villain, Justice. He's extremely interesting and one of my favorites. Bedman? is a dead man. A mechanical bed haunted by its dead user, programmed to protect his little sister Delilah at all costs. Bedman was alive in the previous game but he died by the end of that games story. Both Bedman and Delilah have extreme psychic powers but at the cost of their brains imploding if they were to wake up, hense the need for a mechanical bed that could be operated in ones sleep. In Bedmans dying moments he used his life force to allow Delilah to enter the waking world. Asuka is impossible to summarize shortly. Hes one of the most important characters to the entire plot, essentially he's the cause of almost every bad event despite being well meaning. He's also the 2nd most powerful magic wielder in the world behind his master, The Original, aka Happy Chaos. Physically tho he's just a below average human, so if you break thru his magic in a fight he's toast. Johnny is the leader of the Jellyfish pirates, and the adoptive father of May. He adopts orphan girls and brings them into his pirate group where they operate a steal from the rich to give to the poor type scheme. He is deeply caring for others especially people who are vulnerable, and his daughters are his whole world. He's also very suave and quick to advance on any adult woman he meets. He basically just LOVES women he's womens biggest fan. Elphelt is Ramlethals sister! She contrasts Ramlethals quietness by being loud and bubbly and she's OBSESSED with love and marriage. In this game she's taken up death metal as an outlet, shes the vocalist in her band Speothos Venaticus, which fun fact is the scientific name for bush dogs, which she is also inexplicably obsessed with. ABA is a humunculus and she carries around a sentient, key like, demonic battle axe whose original name is Flament Nagel, but she has renamed it to Paracelsus and claims him as her husband. There are a lot of specific circumstances as to how this happened it's kind of a doozy. The character took a seriously long hiatus from the series (we weren't positive she was canon for awhile) but shes back and it's unbelievable! In her arcade mode in this game her and Paracelsus end up working on their relationship which up to this point has been kinda toxic from both ends, but they can't bear spliting apart so they're working on self improvement. We know who the next DLC character is thanks to a sillohette teaser, altho it'll be at least a few weeks until we get a proper trailer, but his name is Slayer and he's one of the last vampires on earth. He created the assasins guild with noble intentions and then left when those intentions were lost by the group. He is supremely powerful and loves to fight, and loves singing his opponents praises. His wife Sharon has incomplete universal code that makes her effectively immortal. He could feed on her until she looks like a deflated balloon and she would be good as new a moment later. in contrast to ABA and Paracelsus, Slayer and Sharon have a great relationship.

"Asuka" is pronounced more like "Aska" jsyk 😉 Kinda at a point now where I don't even know if I wanna spoil too much about the characters yet juuuust in case you guys ever do decide to check out the lore yourselves (woolievs' series is prolly the best for casual newcomers, plus you can either watch it till Xrd and then watch Xrd proper, or watch it until Strive and then jump into Strive 🤔) A.B.A is more of a side-character though, so I will say, that giant key she's holding (named Paracelsus) is in fact her husband, and thus the object of her jealousy. She's also a "homunculus" as you saw, which is a kind of artificial human.

Sin: 5 years old Bridget: Everyones favorite trans girl Bedman?: Original user of the bed was a powerful psychic who can reverse Freddy Kruger people while sleeping (if he wakes up he dies). His soul is possessing the bed and the girl (Delilah) is under the care of Baiken...oh, and she could nuke a city Elphelt: Obessed with marriage and will go after anyone. Current target is Nagoryuki Johnny, captain of the Jellyfish Pirates and father figure of May (even though shes in love with him...its awkward for everyone) Asuka: Once believed to be That Man and the original antagonist...up until Happy Chaos A.B.A. Shy artificial human who is married to an ancient weapon (Peracelcus). She tried to fing him a human body

Some tidbits about these characters. Bridget was confirmed to be Guilty Gear's first transgender character, having been born as a boy but choosing to live as a girl. This was due to stigma where Bridget grew up that a family with two sons is bad luck; Bridget's parents hence raised her as a girl, which she initially despised and soon ran away from home to live as a boy. Though, she learned that she actually preferred living as a girl and hence adopted that identity as her own. Characters such as Goldlewis and Ky are extremely supportive of her. Also, the teddy bear she has is magical, able to change size at will, and is called Roger. Sin Kiske is the son of Ky Kiske and a Gear named Dizzy, making him half-Gear. He was neglected by Ky and adopted by Sol Badguy, who once jokingly told him to "wave a flag about", and since then Sin has fought with a war flag. He's, admittedly, extremely dumb and naïve, to the point he believes babies are born from eyeballs falling out, and his eyepatched eye is actually his father, Ky's. Ky swapped eyes with him when Sin's Gear strength went haywire, allowing him to both calm his son and inherit Gear powers from the eye, gaining Dragon Install. The girl with Bedman? is called Delilah. The original Bedman was a boy named Romeo who affixed himself to the giant bed and had a condition where he was so intelligent that he had to permanently stay asleep, and waking up would kill him. He was killed and Delilah somehow awoke safely despite having the same condition, and since then the bedframe has followed her around endlessly and protects her at the cost of it's own life, if need be. We don't know if the bed contains Romeo's soul or if it is simply following programming, but either way, Delilah sees the bed as her brother and as such is extremely worried about it when it tries to protect her. Asuka was, supposedly, the main antagonist of the series. He was a scientist alongside Sol Badguy and Jack-O' Valentine before they became magical beings (once known as Fred and Aria), and literally made Gears, gaining him the monikers 'That Man' and 'Gearmaker'. He killed a LOT of people to save the world and, all in all, caused a lot of problems by dumb choices, but he constantly tried to atone and right his wrongs, to the point he stole Sol's Gear powers to revert him to a human. By the end of Strive's story, Asuka lives alone on a lunar colony and records podcasts where he talks about his own thoughts and random trivia about the world, hence the mention of child labor in his intro. Johnny is the leader of a bandit group called the Jellyfish Pirates, and almost all other members are young women he's pulled from poverty or orphanhood, including May - they're also named after the months of the year. He has an obsession with housewives, to the point he constantly and ritually reads a magazine called 'Housewives Weekly'. He sees the Pirates as his close friends and subordinates, but May sees him as her boyfriend, leading to some... weird interactions. The Pirates live on a giant fleet of airships Johnny stole from a floating country called Zepp. Elphelt Valentine is the younger sister of Ramlethal Valentine. She was a sleeper agent for her mother, the Universal Will (essentially a machine god that chose to snuff out humanity), and also was a vessel to be sacrificed to bring back her imprisoned mother. This plan was thwarted and she became close friends with Sin Kiske alongside Ramlethal. She developed an intense urge to marry someone, and eventually, after working for Ky Kiske for years, left to start a death metal band called Speothos Venaticus (the scientific name for a bush dog, an animal she adores). Her main weapon, the rifle Miss Charlotte, is actually a transformed marriage certificate which she plans on signing whenever she finds a man that will marry her. A.B.A is a homunculus, a human created solely by alchemy. Her hair is copper and her blood mercury. She was made in a castle called Frasco, where she was locked in for years with no company except a demonic axe called Flament Nagel. Eventually, she fell in love with the axe, which transformed temporarily into the shape of a key to appease her, and took on the name Paracelsus. She quite literally married the giant key and now searches the world with him to find him a humanoid body - I HIGHLY recommend watching her Arcade mode and her theme, Symphony, both of which are emotional rollercoasters where she comes to terms with the fact that her relationship with Paracelsus isn't healthy, and that she must look inward to save it instead of lashing out in jealousy of others.
