Just leave it to a random 60 subscriber RU-vid channel to make one of the best character overview videos for any game I have ever seen. It was a great idea to name players who play each character so people can look them up for more information. Really well-done video.
Damn, so it IS possible to make a character overview that isn't a rambly 2-hour stream VOD? Who would've thought? fr tho, great job! I look forward to seeing more content from you
@@karapatotes I wasn't specifically talking about her, but her video is a good example, she often gets sidetracked and spends a lot of time talking about very specific strats without covering the basics. I do think that it's better when character guides/overviews are being made by medium level players insted of pros/streamers
@@koldi9746 mid level players usually dont have clout like high level players and streamers, so they need to put extra effort so people would watch them. In reality skill level has no correlation to quality of content. It just happens that a lot of big names are not good teachers or too lazy to make quality content, they just talk about something on stream and let their editors to make all the work
@@koldi9746 Fair enough, I think a video like this takes more effort for sure and is much better at providing a basic reference of each character. But Romolla's vid is nice too because you're getting a lot more in depth descriptions of the character's properties and gameplans. What it lacks in organization it makes up for in that top player knowledge.
much as i like romolla and her video on the rev 2 characters...yeah, that's pretty fair criticism. at least the rev 2 guides are better than what we have for +r
This was pretty awesome. I'd never given Xrd much thought before, but the way you showcased each character made me rethink how cool it might be to play.
2:21 Mocchi combo's are insane in Xrd. Btw if you're interested in joining Sol army than also check out Haaken and Uki since they are some of the best Sol players in history of the series. Especially Haaken who is comparable to Mocchi imo
This was a very thorough video with great descriptions of each character, and you clearly kept up with who to watch for footage as well. Excellent job!
Really perfect guide video! Describing every archetype, all character's strengths and core mechanics of their attacks, as well as giving references to players who specialize in those characters is truly awesome.
As someone who has mainly played +R and Strive thanks to the better netcode, this was incredibly handy as a refresher on some of the characters before jumping in. I'm looking forward to getting more into this game as the update rolls out!
Thanks for this, its so exciting that so many beginners coming from strive (me included lol) and others that are just new to fgs in general coming to xrd! This is definitely one of the best overviews out there, you got my sub bro.
I bought this game last week and have been watching videos on it and playing through its tutorials. This character overview is exactly what I was looking for. I’m a SF/Tekken player and have no history whatsoever with GG. Thank you so much for the video, Big Ups!
I'm so happy that this game is getting rolled back, already put hundreds of hours into this game but now with it rollback net code we're going to be throwing even more at it good video man
Damn, you even mentioned mdesilva and the players' reference, what I loved about Xrd when played back then was mainly the Japan and Korean players who own the character they played, no bs of tier list, they were simply playing the character they liked since years and was specialist on them, that loyalty from players is what made me fall in love with the Xrd scene and scream like a girl every single big tournament. BTW I play with Ky, Leo, Chipp, Answer, Millia, Ram, Elphelt, Jam, Baiken and Bedman... and even then I love watching each specialist like Nage's Faust, Daru's I-no or Fab's Potemkin
> oh i heard axl was pretty low tier outside of strive, so i might just try a diff- *axl proceeds to throw 20 flaming sickles in different directions in Xrd* WHAT
they addressed this in a response further down, but invite is +0 if the first active hit is blocked (plus with FD, minus with IB). if meatied, however, invite can be made very plus.
Amazing rundown. I think there were some other notable players worth mentioning, and honestly I still think I’m forgetting some. Ky: Hamad Jack-O: Purepure, Dot_Nova Leo: Zidane Faust: Krackatos Raven: Dogura Elphelt: Hotashi Zato: Ogawa, KnowKami Chipp: Endou Ramlethal: Takehara Bedman: KBNova Answer: Faultydefense (seriously amazing, he’s like the pioneer of this character) Millia: LordKnight
We all gotta start somewhere! I got into Xrd myself purely because of how cool it was when I was brand new to the scene, and the drive to keep playing it brought me to where I am today. Met a lot of people and had a ton of fun due to getting into fighting games primarily through Xrd. Give it a shot! Worst case, you can pick up something else if it's not your vibe!
I stopped seeing footage for Ogawa after the Rev 2.1 Zato nerfs, so I wasn't sure if he still played Xrd. His old footage is still really great though! I'd have included him if I was listing more than 2 for every character. Absolutely a Zato legend in every Gear game.
@@HeartySnicker Zato didn't receve nerfs in Rev 2.1 though, just some minor buffs like 2K, 5D gatling, jumpcancellable jS and a Great White buff. It was regular Rev2 that made Zato weak, and Ogawa did play this version a lot. His FT10's against Machabo, Omito and Haaken are still valid, since Zato was even a little weaker in those. Good video anyway.
So far it's just pc. The pc version also is currently delay based by default - they haven't announced the full release date for rollback yet. (However after the beta, you are currently able to mod rollback back into your game on pc.)
The update is playable right now on steam by changing Rev2 to run the PublicTest Beta in the properties on steam. It runs until October 31st! For the full release, I have heard it will not be until sometime next year. No official date has been announced yet however.
@@HeartySnicker oh I miss it And now download the beta patch The rollback system is much better than delay system Why only give permanent rollback for rev 2
Why the fuck did they take away heaven or hell intros on strive ? I know it’s still there but it’s at the very end of the intros which are skippable. I’m reaching over a intro 😵💫
Unluckily, it is exclusive to PC on Steam. Currently PC is having an open beta for the rollback, and it will end on the 31st. Full release date is not announced, but is allegedly sometime next year.
Winning is part of it, but it’s not the main thing. My problem is progression, I can’t get any better. This isn’t just with GuiltyGear, but all fight games. I did have fun playing story, arcade, training and online, but once that’s done I mostly stop playing. Now I just don’t play any fighting games, I just can’t get good at them.
On normal block invite hell is +0, more plus on FD and negative on IB. Because of how active it is (48 frames), the meatier it is done or the later into it's active frames it connects the more plus it is. It can be *extremely* plus on block, especially after a knockdown. Since it has level 2 blockstun, I think that would be +13. You are correct that if it hits on its first active frame it is +0 though.
@@HeartySnicker in fairness, usually when people describe something as being plus on block it assumes the first active frame.. with your definition, any projectile could be "extremely plus on block" if you just added in an asterisk like that. Also it's easy to get confused when historically it was always plus even assuming the first active frame. Good overview overall though

same with chipp, his wall alpha blade doesn't send them straight down anymore and puts them in front of chipp to make his corner shenanigans harder to loop.
