It was another very busy weekend at our shelter and that means there is a lot to tell! With another 18 newbies, the count already stands at 50 animals this month. That's definitely a lot! Most of the animals came as a couple, amongst others because there was an allergy and due to private circumstances. We were also able to welcome five animals because someone ended his guinea pig hobby.
Speedy and Zoef were found in a meadow and we cared by someone who helped them get better, because they were not in a very good shape. Now that they are healthy again we take on challenge number two, which is why they were taken to the shelter: they are still very impressed by everything! We have placed these small guys in our office in a quiet but not too quiet place, so that they can get used to things. We take some time every day to socialize them step by step.
Little Nimbus and Firebolt came because of an allergy, they are still very young and very handsome! Their beautiful hair needed a haircut and now they can already move to a suitable owner.
In addition to the guinea pigs that came, about fifteen guinea pigs were also allowed to move! Two couples were gone in the blink of an eye, because they were adopted before they were even provided with a cage. We love that, because this way they only have to get used a new environment once instead of twice. And our dear Rico and his younger friend finally moved after six months!
Dating was also quite a happening, the candidates were almost literally queuing up to be paired. Of the seven dates, five were successful. Our Frodo had the opportunity to impress two pretty girls, the youngest of them was quite fierce. He successfully managed to put her in place and used his charms. Meike, among others, was paired and castrated male Dean, after being rejected twice by other girls, was finally allowed to go on a date with a stubborn teenage girl who fell head over heels for him.

Welcome in our animal shelter! We are located in Dongen (the Netherlands) and we take care of guinea pigs and some other small animals that seek for a new home. Many of these animals stay with us permanently at our welfare centre.
