Guinea Pig vs Hamster | Who Will Win Your Heart? 

Hamsters are actually more expensive! They need lots more shelter and bedding and seeds- on the other hand with guinea pigs, you can do fleece bedding and they need some space to run around, so less items that hamsters! The only thing you should need to rebuy is litter, food, and the vet!

I got Guinea pigs on year ago and they have kept me happy , they are the best and cutest!

Guinea pig cuz I have two guinea pigs named Oreo and Cookie and I love them with all my heart and they also live longer and they are funny lol so guinea pig

The real deciding factor… hamsters only live 2 years or so. :’( Juuuuust long enough to get really attached, then subsequently have your heart broken…

I’ve had both and I can say that a hamster needs at least 100 cm x 60 cage so bigger than what people think, 8 inches of bedding or more and lots of different textures and enrichment, like coco soil, sand, birch chips, sprays, logs and places to hide. They can explore up to 5 miles a night in the wild. My hamster turned out to cost more to maintain than what my Guinea pigs do. Hamsters also should have extra protein in their diet like giving them chicken and mealworm.
