Aburahamu (5 years), the Green Bean King (6 weeks), and Elvis Parsley (6 weeks) eat carrots, green beans, celery, and lettuce. Unedited video of domestic behavior captured from a remote controlled camera.
This is the pigs' fourth evening together. G.B. and Elvis (male siblings) were adopted together from a local rescue. Unaccustomed to eating fresh food, the two young pigs were cautious of vegetables for the first few days, though they quickly began feeding on them after exposure to Abu eating vegetables. The Guinea Pig rescue owner had predicted that they would learn to eat from watching. It does seem that Elvis, who seems to spend more time observing Abu, was quicker to learn to eat vegetables and drink from the water bottle.
Guinea Pigs are social animals and usually prefer to live in groups, however boars (males) may be aggressive towards each other based on personality or other social dynamics. Though harder to pair than sows (females), groups of boars can form peaceful bonds, though often with an established social hierarchy. Being much older and larger, Abu is the obvious ranking member, though G.B. likes to posture, usually to be ignored by Abu. Though G.B. is assertive over Elvis, Elvis often takes shelter behind Abu, giving a bit of complexity to their social system.
Behavior Notes:
Rumble strut at 3:37 by Elvis after being displaced by G.B.
