after going through 3 of the finalist's videos, you cant find any fault in them, it takes years of hardwork and dedication to even reach this point. this shit aint easy

He grew so much within a year. Crazy.

Devon Taylor, what an amazing talent with his own cool groove and style.

I couldn't help but notice the Art Blakeyish sound in the jazz part. I bet he was proud when he heard that from up above. You took that cuba jazz beat 2 a new level, great job.

Last year people were saying he didn't do enough of this or that so this year he did it and still didn't win I feel like he should just continue to be his self and everything will come together for him all these drummers are talented and could win on any given night that night was just Juan's night I'm not going to criticize and say Devon was better cause to me they all had they moments its just Juan really shined this year so props to him he did his thing as did all the drummers

JP should've won that fair and square and he did. JP is a wonderful drummer and musically talented beyond belief. The technicality and diversity he had with his solo is almost impossible and is damn near impossible for a lot of drummers. JP Kept it musical and technical. He had so many time signatures going on at once that I found it hard to keep up. JP DESERVED THAT.

It's probably an 18" A Custom China, but it has a 10" Splash on it too to make that stack sound.

before someone starts asking: That snare is a 14X5,5 Drumcraft birch snare.

Also in the regards to Devon, his cowbell clave from 0:54 came to an abrupt end at 1:06. If he had carried it a lil bit longer and utilize it fully on the funk chops - it could've been a bonus. JP on the other hand, deserves the title last year. His isolations and limb independence is absolute brill!

I think it has a splash stacked with it, not sure on size/model though.

I'm sure speed is definitely something important they take into account...being able to play fast and maintain playing well is important to soloing.

I'm pretty sure it's A custom 18" China stacked with A custom 12" Splash cause the other finalist Robert Diamond Johnson was using both of them separately. That should be it. Amazing stack tho!
