UPDATE.... So CO-OP with a friend is awesome fun, BUT it seems player 2 can only play on a "guest profile". If they don't own GHL themselves, that's fine. But if they do, it sucks that their progress isn't saved. Crossing my fingers they update it. Upvote for visibility please!

The use of actual people in the sequences looks really awkward

This is a really clever idea. By getting rid of the graphics aspect and making the song list extending over time, the game will never feel "outdated", even in 10 years it will still be relevant.

metallica? ozzy? iron maiden? black sabbath? megadeth? anthrax? DIO? someone tell me its not gonna be full of modern rock pop right

is it just me or does anybody else like the 6 buttons in a row better. how can you feel like your actually playing the guitar if your hand stays stationary at the top 3 frets??

they fucked this game up bad, they eliminated the pinky? the pinky is an essential part of playing guitar, there's no more crazy shredding, guitar hero was known for that, now it's just pop rock and power chords, I've played gh for years and it kinda inspired me to pickup up real guitar, but rock band is gonna blow this away.

My issue with this game is lack of old classic rock songs that I know. That was the appeal of the old Guitar Hero games. Being able to play I love Rock and Roll or Slow Ride to name a few. This game appears to be full of new garbage by artists that are not even actually famous and well known. In order to like this game you have to change your out look.

This game is awesome, my wife got it for me and it's so much fun! I had the previous games and was skeptical about the 3x2 but this is great! A lot of fun!

New controller looks like it'll be fun to learn the new layout and the song list on GHTV looks fantastic but I don't know what activision was thinking with the main setlist, people don't play guitar hero for pop music

Anyone who plays GH Live should totally check out Islander : Coconut Dracula, they're really good and it's awesome that they made it on to GH Live.

I just bought it yesterday. I hate not being able to buy my favorites songs! I need tokens to play one song for a couple of time. For the controler, it makes me feel more like a real guitar but i think they should have keep the 5 boutons in two row! I still recommend it.

I live in Australia and im a Drummer but the full band bundle the only one with drums is $500 (guitar only is $250) while this game is 140. guess i gotta start playing guitar... hero

Maybe if there was two rows of Five keys this would be interesting. Power chords are like nothing now, it feels like I'm stuck on easy mode.

Old games are way better, who honestly thought this would be a good idea. I would have loved another game like Warriors of Rock or World Tour. Throw in some old/new songs and not just one of them and you've got a good game. No need to go and remake everything... like why.

To be honest - skip both titles - Guitar Hero and Rock Band and go straight for an actual instrument. So much more gratifying, and for the most part, playing the actual instrument is easier than playing either of these games (at least guitar). I can't totally knock it though, as Rock Band is what got me into picking up a real guitar in the first place.

I have GHL and I have to say I agree with jsut about everything in this review EXCEPT that I dont like the microtransaction model in TV. Hear me out: I get the idea behind the streamable music, and I really love it. Its whats gotten me to come back to playing this game every single day since I got it. I find it great, but I really wish that instead of having to deal with these play tokens (which, despite everything you hear in this review will start to run out and you dont get too many of) you could just buy the songs if you like them. GHTV does a great job introducing me to new songs which I have never heard before, and its really fun! But if there is a song that I really like I would love to buy it, if only Activision would let me. The crazy thing is that I really doubt that this "DLC model" is helping Activision. This microtransactions shit is probably hurting the game more than anything and is ridding them of customers. I will never buy one of those stupid play token packs with my real life cash (and I wont use the ingame currency when there is so much guitar upgrading etc that I could use them on), so once my play tokens have run out, thats that, Im not going to spend more money on the game. And im sure theres many many people that would think just like me. If instead they let us buy individual songs for good for a price of say 2€ (or the equivalent) then I would easily have spent a good 20-30€ on the game just because I keep finding great songs to play. I can only hope Activision changes the system or adds a method of letting us buy these songs in the future.

I'd be more stoked about this (the new guitar fretting system seems like a fun new challenge, and a natural feel... just kinda lame that it's throwing out the pinky) but the actual game graphics just look... boring. Not very colorful, and the guitar pick things look whimpy, rather than \m/etal

I want to try guitar hero without having to buy it, I have rock band 4, I love it. it's great

Listen to Piss On Your Grave by Travis Scott. Feel like that would be so cool to play on this game. Or any song of that album, a lot of the songs use heavy guitar influences which would be fun to play on here imo, even though it's hip-hop.

I like the fact that they did what they did about the game but i think they should have at least left the 5 buttons, i wouldn't mind if it was a 2 row 5 button per row but still 3 buttons just feels kind of off, or at least bring in a classic mode or something... but still pretty interesting game, will surely think about getting it as a GH fan myself
