Here's a tutorial of how you can take a guitar riff and build it into a full song using the power of AI with Suno that you can play over for practice and inspiration. In this video I use Amplitube and Loopback to create a one-stop shop for capturing your guitar ideas and riffs quickly and then using Suno's ability to now build on any sound clip to turn it into a full song.
This is a cool way to take ideas and expand on them quickly, either for practice or for inspiration while songwriting. I prefer to play with my friends in a band, but sometimes, on a weekend morning or late at night, we've all thought, "Wouldn't it be cool if you had a full band that did whatever you wanted them to do?" And perhaps do it all through a pair of headphones in your own apartment or home!
Artificial intelligence is obviously very cool and still super early. It has the ability to be a force multiplier and create serious efficiency when you are coming up with new ideas. From my POV for authoring a full song, I would probably still typically re-record anything that I really liked with my own version of the instruments, tracks, and ideas. But I've had good enough results using software like Suno that for a jam session it is more than OK ... some of the things I've come up with are actually pretty awesome on their own. There is obviously a POV that AI-generated music doesn't have soul and is derivative... that is true, but perhaps we'll get to a point where humans collaborate with AI just like any other software plugin, loop-kit or sampled music. Just better, smarter, faster and perhaps far more inspiring.
For now I'm loving the potential. I hope that this inspires other guitarists out there too.
Rock on!
