That's the thing i love about Tommy E... Most musicians (guitarists especially) forget to love the music when they get this good... But not Tommy... He always puts the music first... even before his own greatness.
Hi everybody.I check this every month or so and I'm amazed at the number of views.Obviously it's Tommy's name that draws the views. Thanks to all who have left kind words towards myself. It was incredible to sit with this amazing artist, and he was so gracious with his time,I can't thank Tommy enough!Just for the record,I would have never called myself "future guitar legend".That was my good friend who filmed this, his idea, which is flattering, but I wouldn't have said such a thing.
Duuuuude! This is amazing! A friend of mine just shared this with me and it immediately inspired me. I have a very small music channel on LBRY.tv called @meattyokra if you are interested in checking out some of my jams. I am from Buffalo too... we should totally get together and jam sometime. 🎼🎶🎵🎸🥁🍻🤘
3:05 That's how you know that Tommy knows his music and guitar so well by ear that he can pick it up and pick up on whatever you are playing and play along with you. Not just play along, but make it match and tweak it to add your own accompaniment in the background. Tommy doesn't want to steal the show, he wants to make YOUR show sound better while you're playing. He hadn't even picked the guitar up from the floor yet and was playing it awkwardly, instantly knowing without even really looking where the right keys and notes were by sheer touch. Like a typical class act, Tommy closes his eyes and listens to his fans and students play and takes in the notes, chords and way that they play, then offers advice, alternative tunings, other note and chord progressions to fit better, etc. Sure, Tommy could pick up his guitar and out-play them big time, as usual. However, Tommy knows that music isn't about who is 'better' - all musicians typically won't speak bad of another musician and won't play favorites about who is 'better' on an instrument. It's all relative, of course. The music makes them brothers. I remember reading about one fan that told Tommy (as Tommy was about to get in his car and pull away)...something along the lines that when Tommy started playing, the fan wanted to break their guitar and stop playing. Tommy apparently laughed and said something similar to, "Don't do that man , it's not the guitar's fault!" lol
Tommy’s a professional!!! Even if he wasn’t by just looking at where that dudes hands are on the fretboard you could just copy what he’s doing if you’re good enough!
......TE talks about 'joe public' being the ones you have to appeal to....he doesn't seem to realize that probably most of the people who attend his concerts are guitar players and those that aren't are probably relatives of those who are. Same issue with classical guitar concerts.
Hey Y'all chill - Jamie is a friend, and an awesome player. I think you can hear on the video he is very unassuming and humble. I like how TE is so honest at 7:38. These are 2 of my favorite people on the planet.
This is why, Adam, you are so important to me as a teacher. The way you articulate what you believe with conviction but are never unkind,. Your very persuasive and diplomatic .Your the "king of Confidence".....Your the "King of Cool" !
The moment where Adam Rafferty chimes in on the comments section of a RU-vid video is where I realize the world is truly magical. Tommy evolved this style from Chet, but Adam, you took it somewhere else, and that is just as impressive. And this Jamie guy is incredibly talented, and unique, and he didnt just learn Tommy's renditions, he found his own way, with a steel string jazz guitar, and it is indeed something special he has. Not to mention hes playing it without amplification, only recorded by a cheap cam!
hahaha tommy finally shows his human side by cursing, at 8:53, that's how much he hates phones and people taking pictures. WATCH OUT when you're in front of him ! :D (I'd troll him about it though :D)
Jamie! When you've got it YOU'VE GOT IT! Just Keep On Keepin on! Your flavour is sweet! You've got that God given talent and a humble heart. You will most definitely will go a long way! Only GREAT things ahead for you! If you get the chance come to Canada and check out the Toronto Jazz and Music Festivals..... Just food for thought! Keep the flavour! They're feelin' it!
Hey Jamie you have it. It is deep inside of you am waiting for you okay. I love your play it sound as nice future legend. This video makes me boost my play. How ever you got this video, it have scoped much from Tommy for me. Thanks buddy
FUTURE GUITAR LEGEND ?????Your joking right ?There is only 1 legendary guitar player in this video and his name is TOMMY EMMANUEL.Past present and always a LEGEND.
Tommy Emmanuel and David Russell are my best professors ever (even though they are not aware of that fact :) Both of them are a level of their own, far aware from us, average Joes, but at same time they are so down to earth that is pleasure to know that people like them exist. Thank you guys for everything. Your loyal follower .
Tommy, what do you do if you have a massive fart threatening to release (when you're sitting down), do you just stand up, let rip, and blame it on someone who's walking by or do you release it when the person you are talking to says something really stupid? Also, are you a tenor farter or a baritone farter -- and can you play tunes with your farts (especially after a bowl of chilli)? Thanks
