Oh my goodness, please do not stop teaching! I'm trying to learn to play a song as a surprise for my son's wedding. Not a kid but certainly a beginner! I have felt so discouraged until I found your videos! So sweet and helpful! "...you just played a note you shouldn't have played...the best thing to do is to keep going like it didn't happen." Thank you so much! I am trying to play a song with a B minor. I have trouble muting strings that I’m not intentionally touching. I am trying to hold the cord and play one string at a time to make sure the non-pushed strings are free. I don’t know if that is a good way to practice, if it will ever get better.

Are you playing it as a bar chord or by holding down the bottom four strings with four fingers? If the latter the top two strings would be muted or avoided. You can either touch the strings lightly with any finger and mute them or try to avoid strumming them. Either way works. Eventually you’ll get it if you keep sticking with it. Some chords take forever to get.

After rereading this I see what you’re saying. Arch your fingers and try to use the tips of your fingers as much as possible. Check the position of your thumb to make sure that it’s not creeping to high up the back of the neck.

@@KaseysMusicMethod I am playing it by first finger on the first string on the second fret, the second finger on the second string of the third fret, and third and fourth finger on the strings of the fourth fret. It’s apparently not a real B, minor. The real B minor was hopeless. But I am going to keep at it! Eventually, it will be a real B minor! Thank you so much for your encouragement!
