That old wood just sings! Many people swear by Martins and Taylors but there is something about Gibson acoustics in the '40's and '50's....nothing short of magic! Great playing Mark!
I can appreciate that both Gibson and Martin make beautiful acoustic guitars. That being said, so do a lot of other companies. I have a beautiful 1973 Yamaha 12 string. It was one of the ones made right before Taiwan became republic of China. I also have a 17+ year old Seagull rosewood spruce. I would like to see some different manufacturers highlighted. I think it would be totally cool! You did do some before. Thanx
Great video guys! This guitar reminds me of the one my grand dad had, when i was a kid he'd come over on sunday afternoon noon and we'd sit on the porch and him and my dad uncles would have a good ole time and pick all afternoon, me running around in my underwear, lol!good times!!
Back in '75, I bought a 1933 L-00 for $10 at a garage sale. It needed a neck reset and frets. I think I paid about $100 for the work. Sold it in '80 for $300. Thought I'd made a good deal. Sure wish I'd kept it; it was one of the good ones. Played like a dream and sounded crisp, clean, loud, and deep. Sigh....
OK , yes it's a pretty color , I especially like the tortoise pick guard and the purple case , but perhaps a little more pertinent info , like it looks like your basic mahogany back neck and sides , rosewood finger and bridge , but it's hard to tell from utube land .could be spruce top or maple , ebony board , could be maple neck , sure most people probably don't care but some do , otherwise another great flat top Friday , everyone's favorite day , well done Mark , thanks guys.
Someone I met last summer has one of these. It was her grandpa’s, she said I could buy it but I just don’t know what price I should offer. Any suggestions??? Has original case but has not been kept in a humidor.
Neck pickup: Slayer - Raining Blood Both pickups: Fatboy Slim - The Rockafeller Skank Bridge pickup: Peter Schilling - Major Tom (German version). Muito obrigado!!!
That's what I would've played. A couple of classics right there. I saw Genesis just before Peter left. I, for one, enjoyed the new direction of his music. Solsbury Hill was a pleasant departure. What else can be said about "the Last Waltz"..? Fucking masterpiece. I just watched the exchange between Levon and Tommy Lee.. their characters.. in the film "In the Electric Mist".. for the one hundredth time. I'd read the book Confederate Soldiers in the Electric Mist. They nailed it. A classic as well. Levon was a talented actor. Fucking gold. I'm just a sappy old Gibson acoustic kind of guy. I love the sound of them sons-a-bitches ..
Billy Goat Gruff - You're God damn right I love Guild guitars. One of my partners has a majestic old Guild. I just want to beat his ass every time I visit. Son-of-a-bitch..
Snuffy Grunt I went to see Genesis just before Peter left too. My mate and I were having a few drinks in the bar and were very thirsty.... Lol. By the time we went through to see the band they were halfway through their last number.... Oh well..... Happy days....
Can’t understand why Gibson doesn’t get it together and offer a proper Junior. Original spec dog ear PU, mahogany body and neck, proper neck and nut size. Price it under 1k. They’d sell the shit out of it. Unfortunately we are forced to spend 5-10k on museum pieces ☹️
