One of the most innovative guitarist I've seen in years, Michael Lemmo continues to formulate new music for GOtD and gives a master class in composition with each episode. Jen is the most underrated videographer on the internet, her skills are mind blowing as she plows her way to being the new model for internet marketing. Thank you Norm for these great instruments and for hiring these great people.
I have that very guitar. My Dad bought it new in around 53. He passed it on to me, and now my son has it. Ours is in much better shape, despite being played to death. Only change was the tuners wore out. We saved the originals.. Thanks for the video.
Mojo is right.... I am blessed with a beautiful 1956 Gibson ES 125 that I have named The Reverend.... It preaches a mean blues sermon. They are wonderful and versatile instruments, and it was wonderful to hear Mastro Lemmo put one through its paces.
I gotta say I would love to own one of these some day. Love the deep mellow tones and just how you could create some really unique sounds with such a simple guitar. Keep it up!
Just bought a 57 in great shape, low action, good frets its freaking amazing. Only paid $1000 with original case. Its in better shape then this one for sure. Mine looks like it had a pick guard on top or like someone played it as a lefty, this one also looks like it had one as well, note the repaired hole on the top of the neck where the screw would go for the pick guard just like the pickguard on the bottom. Strange, wonder what that is all about and of course I have a repaired hole where the metal part would be but I still totally love the thing.
My '53 is in similar condition - a little more beat up, but no headstock repair. Do you have a source for a replacement pickguard, bracket, and screws? Thanks!
When I saw the guitar, I almost switched off...but when Michael has something on his hands, you know something special is gonna happen. This little thing really surprised me...I think it might even fo some jazz stuff. Very nice!
Kinda late to the party, however: Inside of the F holes there should be a letter stamped. There are keys to figure out the year by what letter is in there. Mine is a ‘54 and it has the letter “X” stamped. Good luck!
Disclaimer: Not being condescending or rude or disrespectful. My grandfather left me his Gibson ES-125 and it is in near perfect condition. The one in the video is nice, but after seeing it compared to mine I have to say that mine is so much nicer. I never truly appreciated how nice mine was until I saw it compared with others. Not being rude, or anything like that. Just blown away at the condition of my ES-125. I was blessed with the guitar when I was about 19. I’m 33 now and it is still in the same condition it was when my grandfather left it to me before he passed. I would say better condition because I have hydrated the fretboard as well as professionally deep cleaned the guitar and polished to a mirrors sheen. Thank you papah for what you have left me. I will never sell it, or damage it in any way and will cherish it until I take my last breath. Thanks for teaching me how to play and always being there for me. I’ll never forget playing guitar with you upstairs for hours on end.
