As I’m on the other side of the pond I catch GOTD early morning before work. Apart from the sensational playing (again!) I find the genuine warmth and positiveness between Michael and Jen very uplifting and a great start to the day.
Yes it looks like an awesome place to work,I bet they work their arses off but have a ball,a special place is Normans Rare Guitars and great place to learn some of Michaels mastery, what and unbelievable player
@@dcarts5616 I just listened to it again and it is so goood!! Those two loops he solos over lay down such an awesome groove. And his playing over them is so SWEET and tasteful! What a fantastic player!
As an owner of this model and color from 1973, it's great to see the characteristics of this slightly older specimen. I bit the bullet and recently refretted it with medium jumbo stainless steel and have been playing it non stop. The tuners on that axe look original because mine got new vintage klusons put on in 95 and they aren't as yellowed. This is an excellent choice for a player grade 335! Don't need a hardtail to bend!
Awesome my buddy had one of these in the 80s we were teen agers back then I played his many times unplugged setting around learning songs and licks we were both gonna be rock stars I had an iria Les Paul copy it was sweet axe too but I always loved his 335 we used take his dad's homemade wine on Friday nights from a shelf in the garage in gallon jugs get wasted and play guitar those were the days learned Van Halen and stones Skynyrd on that guitar watched star licks videos in the vhs player ! Takes me back
These GOTD are such a highlight of my day, not only because Mike kills the guitar, but also the dynamic between him and Jen. They are definitely having a good time and it shows. Love Jen's reactions! Hahaha, this one has the best ending.
Michael and Jen are such sillyheads, I love it. I really have a blast watching guitar of the day, everyday! Much appreciation from Austria to you guys!
So i’ve been listening to these videos for a while now, but since Michael has been the host i’ve been looking forward to hear what he comes up with everyday! Very inspiring playing and also the two song ep he released recently are spinning almost everyday in my ears, good f*cking job! Much love from Montreal, Canada! 🤘
Gorgeous guitar , that's like 5 days in a row without a red guitar , unbelievable. I luv this color , natural is my fav after black , and this is natural walnut , sort of , anyway it sounds great , always wanted a 335 , it's got that british invasion feel , 60's rock but it can open up and crunch with the best of them. Some very creative and outstanding playing Lemmo , especially liked that first song. Thanks guys.
Great playing and nice guitar, as usual, but also some interesting background material in this video. Frankie had his shirt halfway off trying to get to an itch, Norm on the phone, the clueless guy talking so loud as Lemmo was about to start...gives the show a real "organic" feel.
J G we're being spoiled by his playing that's for sure. I want to save all of his episodes so that when he leaves NRGs in the hopefully distant future I can replay them.
SO AWESOME! Love that guitar and the playing! I had a VH2 cassette that I wore out in a rude old 70s van. It had plush vinyl, mirrored ceiling, brown shag carpet, and the front seats swivelled so they faced backwards. It was so unreal. This guitar and that song bring vivid memories of that van and that time. BTW, the other main tape in that van was Jimmy Bryant and Speedy west. The dude looking at guitars in the back is lucky. You know he's been told to not turn around and pretend like everything's normal :)
I was really bummed when Mark left... but Lemmo has turned out to be a great replacement. Michael, that demo was perfect - showcased so much of what a good 335 can do, and did it in unexpected ways. Great work, man.
Jen and Mark's guitar of the day had a certain vibe that worked great! Jen and Michael Lemmo's kinda Top the old guitar of the day.??? I'd Love Jen to host one guitar of the day show. (Talk about a Viral Video).
I have an ES 345 of same vintage, same walnut finish, same orange sticker inside. Really a fine guitar. I hate the volute, though I know it's there for a reason. This is a great demo except for ...... the Tube Screamer when you use the bridge pickup. It squashes the tone right out of the guitar compared to how open and full the neck and neck/middle combos are. The first two pickup demos are terrific. Nice, Michael, very nice.
Yo Michael when are you and Nick gonna do another freaking awesome jam! Still can't get enough of that Van Halen cover man y'all ROCK! Our Lady Peace. Clumsy
Never been much of a Gibson fan aside from my early 70s SG,also in walnut but the finish has aged and worn thru a lot but I love it,but I’m digging the ES335. Very versatile guitar to have In ones music room. I bought most of my vintage guitars before prices got crazy stupid expensive so I doubt I’ll be buying a vintage 335 but that’s definitely going on my to-build list. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at carving a solid top and back or laminating and molding a lam top, back and side set. Great playing as always lemmo.
back in the day, about '74, there was this "natural" style that came along - everything was butcher block tables, terra cotta lamps, bamboo king chairs, avocado-colored refrigerators -- I even stripped the clownburst finish off my Jazz Bass, just to make it natural and woody. Of course, the style quickly vanished (like the single year of port-wine and jade-colored outerwear, I still have a parka in those colors) -- but hey, for those who think walnut looks like poop, I dare you to eat a chocolate bar :)
They made the Walnut through till at least mine which I was was told was made January 1978. Mine has the Coil Tap switch as well.Ive put in on Marketplace in Jersey as I am thinking to get a Byrdland
