Very helpful video as always. I revisited it again because I wanted to make a more glossy finish. I usually hand paint my pedals and then finish with a satin clear coat enamel. It seems to protect the artwork well, however it lacks that glass look and feel. Would powder coating be the next logical step? Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the tip about the laser jet decals when powder coating. However, can we still use inkjet waterslide decals on one of those pedals that come powder coated from the seller?
really nice vídeo, I actually liked how the little glossy Green and blue boxes looked. For now its a great money and time investment for me to do It like that, cause I just built the pedals that i considered most important, but in the future ill give it a look. thanks !
I use black or white base with Rustoleum Color Shift or Duplicolor Clear Effects. The color shift changes from purple to red and blue in sunlight, the clear effect has a rainbow glitter effect in sunlight. Both come out looking spectacular.
Thanks for posting this mate. I'm about to make my own pedals and this is really useful. Around 9.20, you've got an icy-looking finish. Is this just a sparkle white powder coating? I'm trying to get an ice/frosty effect for my design.. Thanks again!
Hey bro, so i have a jhs sweet tea pedal and i wanted to have clear coat on it so i can protect the texts on the pedal, can i apply a clear coat directly?
Hi I am wondering how I can give a picture of a piece of paper with a schematic I mashed together I need you to help me check it but I don't know to get a pic and let you examine it please help
I always use enamel spray cans, mainly because my girlfriend hand paints everything with enamels. Takes almost two weeks to get one done, but they look beautiful. Thanks for the different ideas though.
magnum43402 Oh theres nothing wrong with spray cans or hand painting! You just have to pick the right method for you. Powder coatings great but you have to do it in batches and by the time i'm finished building a batch i feel like vomitting if i see the same color again :D
Nice video as always. I'm not a great fan of your hand paiting skills lol but I do think the ones which you've painted by hand (specially the white one w/ the drawings) has more character... And I'd like to remember the metal etching method, where you can do pretty much the same method used to etch the PCB to etch a very detailed drawing on the pedal surface. After that a coat of color, which will penetrate the etched surface will give a very nive appearance. I will do that on a rebote delay I'm making, and I'm planning to finish it with a thick layer of clear coat (acrylic resin) to protect the ecthing and make a even surface. thanks again for the video, pal. And for introducing me to this art.
