A Drop of Joker was Miyako’s first band. The Lovebites song ‘Liar’ was originally a Drop of Joker song that Miyako rearranged for Lovebites. People should check out 21g the second band Miyako was in. She plays yet another style of music. Unlike the a Drop of Joker which was a indie band, 21g had two famous Japanese musicians and bigger label support.

"Is that Miyako?" 😄 Yep that is Miyako! She's had at least 2 other projects in case you want to check it out 21g - 発売3rd single (i have no clue about song name, that is what is in the title) and Sonic Lover Reckless - Phoenix It is very interesting to see where some of these musicians started and where they come from. Thanks GG and stay safe!

@@akaalexanderking Miku probably has the most interesting start of all, so different from what she does in Band Maid. After all everyone has to start somewhere! She went by the name of Mika Noguchi and was in an idol group, not necessarily for a reaction but you got to watch it, just search "Miku before Band Maid" here on YT.

Yes this was one of Miyako's past bands/projects, beside 21g and duo SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. I don't know for sure whether she is still in those bands once she has become a full member of LOVEBITES. That style of song really reminds me of several songs that come from GACHARIC SPIN, with the techno/electro elements of rock songs. Thanks for the reaction GG. Cheers!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼

The band 21g disbanded less than a year after she joined LOVEBITES If I remember correctly. Drop of Joker I am not sure if it’s still active or in hiatus but I think Miyako is too busy with Lovebites to be involved in any meaningful active way with that band. The Sonic Lover Reckless was a project with another musician, currently inactive.

Decide for yourself ... Gacharic Spin's Juicy Beats live 2019 just got reuploaded ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pObpM-MNpVk.html Recall, Gacharic Spin is the 4 musicians who use Fuki as singer when they are Doll$Boxx. in 2019 tho, the drummer came front & center (& stopped dying her hair blue), and a new drummer, as well as a 17yr old high school junior ("mic performer", replacing hype dancers) were added. Not Teradaric Spin(with legendary ShowYa's singer), Not Metallic Spin (with Sabre Tiger's singer, anyway MS is a bunch of Eurpean dudes who just look suspiciously like GS). Gacharic Spin, knowingly unpronounceable in Japanese or English, and knowingly named after "clattering" like dishes, esp like lil plastic toys rattling out of a casino's gumball machine. Most fun you can have watching strippers dancing atop keyboards (different video, that's the advanced class ;) )

I love this song, and just wish Miyako could be in several places at once. Her earlier bands featured death growls (one of their albums is called Goddeath) and I sometimes wonder if she misses that element. Maybe we'll see Asami surprise us one day with harsh metal vocals!

this is also one of my favourites from japanese bands. I like, that it´s an indieband, doesn´t feel "fabrikated" like so many japanese "bands". miyas riffing on that 7-string is exceptional good, so is the vocalist, the song is energetic, joyful, catchy. and it´s also interesting to learn, that miyako has a background like this. I wouldn´t be surprised, if she was the composer. love it. and I agree, that this song deserves a better production.

Hanabie, Blacklab, Flagitious Idiosyncrasy in the Dilapidation, Fate Gear ^ All japanese all-female metal groups. Hanabie is metalcore, Blacklab is doom/death, FID is grindcore, Fate Gear is very much like Destrose since its leader was Destrose's leader. But a bit heavier sounding compared to Lovebites.

Well how about real old school....Hendrix LIVE at Monterey Pop (1967). This is the performance that stunned America, as he was just brought back from England for it. Best song is Hey Joe (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fe82eYRjiBU.html). First, Prince stole his wardrobe not the other way around!! Second remember he is a LEFTY so watch carefully and see him playing a RIGHT-HANDED guitar UPSIDE DOWN!!! Third, playing it with his teeth, tongue and finally behind his head.....ever the showman. A wicked blues player before he turned to Rock he learned on the old Black blues circuit all the tricks of the trade that blew away everyone else. Often imitated never duplicated. I am sure you have heard him play but if you haven't seen this performance then treat yourself. I saw him twice LIVE and each time was sensational!! The video is 53+ years old and it will still blow you away!!!! This was Miyako's 1st band and she got to do a lot with them, but are we all glad she accepted the invite to join Lovebites!!!!

If you want to see some more of Miyako's excellent guitar and piano/keyboard skills (because there's no such thing as "too much"), I recommend "Burden of Time" from their recent "Awake Again: Live From the Abyss" studio concert. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4OBf_Gn8efs.html

@@akaalexanderking, you're welcome. I like the studio concert because it's a more intimate setting, and the bass guitar is finally higher in the mix. I think I've recommended their cover of Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free" where Miho really brings the bass to the forefront. She does the same in "Hammer of Wrath." They're not in their white gowns/dresses, either, and they occasionally play to the cameras. Haruna is the best at this, always smiling and being goofy. Miyako's road has been an interesting one. Drop of Joker started under a different name and look, changed, and then fell apart. She was in SLR which apparently only made one song and video a few years ago, and then there's 21g whom doesn't seem too have done anything since 2018. She joins LOVEBITES as Mi-Ya and as a "support member," whatever that means. She quickly changes her name to just miyako, all lower case for LOVEBITES, and becomes a full time member. Busy lady!

Lovebites songs Liar and Scream For Me were adapted from Drop of Joker songs (I think by Miyako and the lyricist), tho they were completely reworked. If you react to Scream For Me, take to two mins to compare to DoJ's Panic Fuse (a lyric still in Scream for Me), here with Miyako doing a play through as it was written, on an 8string ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qatnu_mrCAg.html

Yes, this song is interesting, somehow, and it is not really fair to judge if you know just one or two songs (I heard that band once before). But: that music is very eclectic! My problem with it seems to be a general one: While it is always good when musicians/bands try to override boundaries and cross genre limits - that is what makes music interesting, in the end - I'm a bit fed up by this specific mixture of electro sounds (like EDM) and/or pop with metal elements, like the heavy guitars and growls by female vocalists. There are quite many musicians and bands who do that, and none of them really convinced me yet. But it is definitely a question of taste, too, and of the special interests that motivate you to 'degust" new sounds. Recently you tend to speak about getting through your long list of recommendations finally, and you seem to be pretty relieved at that outlook. But don't look very much forward to it yet, don't jump the gun. I have quite many proposals that will please you very much, I'm certain of that, believe me. There is no escape, hahaha ... So take that, as first resupply: EXiNA (a.k.a. Shiena Nishizawa) is inevitably. She is 24, singer/guitarist/composer, she is a real great live performer (despite her mere 148 cm body height) as well - watch EXiNA PERiOD (Live Clip) from Mini Album "XiX" [ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GrHVj7FG_y0.html] for example. Her latest rock song was published a month ago, it's "DEAR JUNKS" feat. 岸田教団&THE明星ロケッツ [ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Gp5E52FYApM.html]; it's a nicely made lyrics video; the sound is great and strongly influenced by her backing band (the "feat." in the song title) - it's the veteran rock band Kishida Kyoudan & the Akeboshi Rockets. If you check early live recordings of that band, you'll bet that Band-Maid got a lot of inspiration from them - begin best with the song that made them famous, High School of the Dead [ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EVNu3nJeit0.html]; it's the title song of the anime series with the same name (the band is deeply rooted in the anime music business, as is S. Nishizawa); they have an outstanding singer, and her and Kishida Kyoudans (who plays the lead guitar) style is inimitable! You've got to take a close look, too, at KK's guitar play in the video of "Strike the blood" [ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4L8CmEuCiAI.html]; the 'technique' he uses at the end of the song is hilarious. If you don't know it yet (the 'technique') you'll cringe quite a bit, I suppose. (also worth to be checked: If you want to have a still more impressive live performance of Shiena Nishizawa, begin with minute 3:00 of the following video that was taken 2018 at a small festival, she rocks the stage all alone [ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kTwkIUKhXgE.html] - it's epic, I tell you! She gained much popularity with the song Break your fate 西沢幸奏 [ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oKwExw3c_oY.html]. It's the theme song of an anime series as well and most probably the most violent, even brutal school girls MV you'll ever get to see. A last tip: check out the jam of Shiena-san and Nemophilas Drummer Murata Tamu, they are playing a cover of the song "Killing Me", according to Tamu-san from a feminists point of view. [ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vuPc0EvbIns.html] The song is an original of the influential group SiM (Silence iz Mine), which exists since 2004. "Their musical style mixes heavy metal, alternative, hip hop, ska, reggae, dub and punk with rebellious lyrics and songs with attitude", states Wikipedia and assigns even more genres to SiM. So we are back at the beginning of the post with my critique of the stylistic eclecticism of "Drop of Joker" - I like the music of SiM partially, I like their attitude, but in the end they mix too much together, imho. (There are more recommendations to come, soon, I'd say, but don't be scared, they won't always be accompanied by remarks as extensive as above).

Don't mention it! It's helpful for me, I need to put all the informations that I gather during my effortful researches in japanese popular culture, above all the most exciting music there, into order. For thats the only way to get answers to my numerous questions, to make headway at least moderately and to minimize the danger to get lost completely in that sonic universe there, hahaha ... At length I heard Nemophilas song "Monsters" again, yesterday - it was the only song in Nemophila's repertoire that failed to catch me instantly. It is the only one of their original songs that is composed by Saki, the guitarist, and not by their favoured composer/producer Kensuke Akiyama; knowing that I now think my expectations tricked me. As it is a legit hardrock tune, with just a few metal inserts, but much more electronic stuff. Since you are open to that, as seen in your reaction to "A Drop of Joker, "Monsters" might also appeal to you. And now - I'm curious which band(s) you will put on the table during next week - as you dropped some secretive hints yet. Can't wait to hear it.
