The guitar in July Matham Vandhal (Pudhiya Mugam). The opening chords of Vaanengum Thanga Vinmeengal (Moondraam Pirai) and the riffs in Nee Varaindha Oviyam (Thalli Pogathey).
Though not Tamil music you should check out Santhosh Chandran who is one of the few flamenco guitarists we have in India. Previously the lead guitarist of motherjane. His flamenco stuff on RU-vid is amazing.
Good one Berty. Off the top of my head, I can recall gems fom the legendary guitarist Philips who played for MSV. One of the most original voices of tamil cinema. His work on Engirundhaalum Vaazhga song is my favorite, offers great mood for the song. so I revere all his works. Besides his works, here is some of my favorites, Kathirundhu Kathirundhu (Ninaithale Inikkum (old)) - Killer performance by Abu Jumbulingame Jadaadaraa - Kasethan Kadavulada Couple of cool stuff in Deva's Kadhalaa Kadhalaa - Avvai Shanmugi Oru Mani Adithal - Kaalemellam Kadhal Vaazhga Of course ARR's Kalluri Salai - Kadhal Desam Kaadhal Cassata - Kappal, this is a fun song, don't know who played the guirar, the dude must have had a ball while recording the song. Thirudaadhe Thirudaadhe - Enai Noki Paayum Thota - Of course Keba played a lot of good stuff. phenomenal session player. This is my favorite. Some cool good old Nile Rogerish funky rhythm parts and a bluesy solo. perhaps, instead of restricting ourselves only in guitar solo, we can talk about cool guitar parts in our film songs. My latest favorite is Chris Jason's rhythm guitar on Oh Sita Hey Rama in Seetha Ramam. What he did to the song is a fresh air.

If you can explore the Ilayaraaja score for Rajkiran, Ramarajan, rajkiran, Karthik, Prabhu and merely the village-oriented filmography. That's under-appreciated and it should be guided to others. Thanks.
Alap Raju bass guitarit Adie koluthe electric guitar from Harris jayaraj Janu Kabali theme electric guitar from santhosh narayanan Nee kavithaigala acoustic guitar from pradeep kumar Rasa magarasa from Sean roaldan Are my favorite
When rock on the movie came out most rock heads laughed at the fact that the band magic didn’t have a bass guitar. Apparently they re released a different digital cut later including a new version of the band intro voice over in which they mention Luke Kenny their keyboardist played the bass parts….this time rock heads fell on the floor laughing as there were bass slides and keyboard chords played together at some bits . Poor Kenny dies of cancer due to over work and being a sessions keyboardist for Anu Malik 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Distorted electric Guitar sounds became prominent through ARR in the 90s, he brought a lot of Western Music like RAP/ROCK and infused it with Commercial cinema Music. It was later followed by Harris int he 2Ks, non-wonder since Harris worked under Rahman for sometime. Though Yuvan used Guitar parts here and there, he was more inclined towards Hip-Hop during his prime, which is a much mainstream genre among Tamil audiences than Rock/Metal.
I swear no one could use guitar as different as Harris jayraj.... They way he uses FX for electric guitars are mind blowing! The interlude in nenjukul peidhidum song 🔥No doubt he is the king
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WzVEH_L11uc.html - This is the first guitar solo I enjoyed! Thanks for reminding about the gems in Tamil.
