Nuno Bettencourt!🤘🏻 for how precise he is, and the way he put technic to serve the music. The lyrism. The ideas, and that incredible feeling of doing it so easely. He's a blast.
Rotem is a great guitarist to experience live. He certainly shreds, but there are so many other interesting things going on conceptually and musically that it would be reductive to call him a "shredder." The way he combines runs and chord stabs is really powerful. Also, texture and counterpoint. Incredible guitarist.
Nice. It should be mentioned that the role of the first finger is important also: how and when does it move to the next string? In my experience that is sometimes a weak part in how people do this, especially playing downward (thin to thick strings). The very exact moment when the first finger steps over is very important: you want it placed BEFORE the pull off is happening but not on the exact smae moment as the pulling finger is placed, it's somewhat in between.
I don't have a favorite shredding player because I don't like shredding for shredding's sake. Playing fast is one thing but with shredding there is too much ego involved. "You're just saying that because you probably can't shred yourself" is a common reaction. But being a good musician is not about being able to shred.
My favorite shredder is currently Ben Eller one of your fellow youtubers. You both play very differently and definitely different music. A collaboration between the two of you would make for an interesting video www.youtube.com/@BenEller. Hey thank you for what you do. People like yourself and Ben that I mentioned make us all better players. Much appreciated! 👍
