I transcribed the chords at the end before so figured I will paste them here for anyone wondering what is going on in the end section X-X-9-11-11-9 (Like a rootless G#M11 Tom plays these all the time) X-X-8-10-10-8 (chromatic movement down) X-X-7-9-9-7 (7)-X-7-8-8-7 (secondary dominant, B7#5 another favourite of Tom's) X-7-6-8-7-X (hammer on 6-8 on G string) X-6-5-6-7-7 (V of I) X-7-6-8-7-X (hammer on 6-8 on G string) X-6-5-6-7-7 (11)-X-11-12-12-11 (different variant of V of I) Repeat - X-X-9-11-11-9 X-X-8-10-10-8 X-X-7-9-9-7 (7)-X-7-8-9-9 (B13 with the 9) X-7-6-8-7-X (hammer on 6-8 on G string) X-6-5-6-7-7 X-7-6-8-7-X (hammer on 6-8 on G string) X-6-5-6-7-X 5-x-5-5-5-7 (hammer on 5-7 on the high E string) Chromatic down to the I 4-(6)-4-4-4-6
You probably dont care but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Johnny Matthias I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Man I love these videos. It’s so cool to see someone that knows a lot about guitar and still continue to learn and be blown away. Just seeing someone genuinely love something like music makes me feel good. It’s real infectious. Hope these videos go on forever
If you haven't seen it already you have to check out the red bull live session of fkj & masego - tadow I think you would love it, I was obsessed for months after first hearing it!!!!
I learned about Tom Misch FKJ when I was at this random bar in a small alley in Seoul. The bartender was playing a RU-vid playlist of their stuff and I was hooked.
I can tell that you're beholden to no man, so it behoves you to start a band doing funk guitar covers of Beethoven symphonies and call it "Behooven." Another stellar breakdown of an excellent track! Your enthusiasm is palpable. I remember a video from a while back where you admitted to feeling super burned out. Maybe you still are, and are just giving a great performance when the camera is on, but it seems like you're having a good time here, and that makes me happy!
Your ears are good its just that this is a genre with a lot of triad pairs, borrowed chords, tritone subs, secondary dominants, altered and extended chords in that neo soul style, a lot of movement... I really enjoyed your breakdown, keep up the good work :)
I hadn’t heard of these two but I love the vibe! I love your honesty,Mr.Palmisano! No sugarcoating. Nothing worse than an alleged teacher just faking their way to prove something!
for me the entire song is made by Tom's reharm chords at the end. I've listened to this tune many times since it came out quite awhile ago. While I dig the groove and layers, it's generally a straight forward riffy/pentatonic groove (in the best way). When Tom takes over at the end with proper chords/voicings the color comes out. I was curious what you were going to do at the end there Michael.
Id like to learn all the things you are saying like ""the third" "the one " I know what u mean . I have been playing and learning mostly of the internet, but I like the way u connect what u hear with the theory. Could u please tell me which of your courses I should take to start learning? Thanks
I think it would be great if you could frame your camera either lower or wider. We're missing your right hand completely. Awesome work non the less, very insightful
Hello Mike could you do the video of gypsy guitarists Adrien Moignard and Gonsalo Bergara doing Djangos Tiger (Clasico) 7 years ago .Not sure if you seen them .Dont think you can evaluate them they are from a different world,LOL .... regards Glenn
Love your content. Would live to hear your opinion on some music from the London jazz scene. Yussef Dayes would recommend "Love is the Message" live at Abbey Road.
I giggle inside every time he says he has bad ears. Then you see him deconstruct not only the guitar and melody, but the keyboard part at well. What an amazing player with "terrible" ears. Would love to see him just unload some solos over grooves sometime. Michael you are incredible buddy!
I really enjoyed this breakdown. Tom Misch and FKJ, their recognition in the past few 5 to 7 years have grown significantly. The YT channel, "Majestic Casual" have always shared their music to help promote them. FKJ's wife, June, is also an amazing artist.
Hey man I really love your videos. I always tune in to ur vids because I always find different artists to listen to and ur enthusiasm and understanding or ur instrument really makes the vids enjoyable. I was wondering when you were going to react to Tom misch. He is one of my all time fav. Great musician. Check out his song disco yes. It's so funkyyy. And thanks for making my day with this video😊😀
This is one of your best lessons. The minor line cliche is so huge. Your self-deprecation while tearing this down to nuts and bolts with simplicity snd love is admirable. You’re effortlessly talking high level harmony, soloing concepts, and arranging that transcends instrument or genre.
I’ve been watching your channel off and on for a while and your breakdown of this not only hooked me completely but it ultimately made me become a monthly subscriber to your classes because I’m so intrigued by your understanding and I’m only 9 months in yo teaching myself the guitar and I feel like your classes will help me learn the way I truly wanna understand the instrument! Thank you for all your content and effort and can’t wait to now be a student! Carry on sir!!! Thank you
I've been thinking of the last chord as a Db minor 7. Same notes as the E maj7 that you called out, but thinking of it as major IV to a minor IV makes more sense to me somehow. Kind of like the old Beatles peogressions
Great vid man. Just wanted to point out that they changed somethings after shooting this video. Here is the original audio: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JnGDTh9qCKc.html
The root notes on the fretboard follow a memorable pattern. Trust me you'll figure it out. For example, let's play the A note on the low E string. It's also on the same fret on the high E string. Also, you can go two strings down to the D string and go up two frets. That's another A note. As you play around the fretboard you'll start to see this pattern straight away as Michael did.
This video is about a compilation of guitar solos from Midori and Miyako a sweet little girl band called LOVEBITES Live ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AEMLw6qASRI.html
Hey there Michael. You're just a top tier guy. Not only have you opened my mind to alot of amazing music and changed my music taste, but you GIVE the music you show people a spicy taste with your personality. I think you're path here on youtube has opened eyes for so many people who are not active on the comment system and never give you feedback. You can somehow make me love a song that i don't even like and you've also done it to my friends with your own philosophy and how you see everything around the music. Kinda dude that i'd take my kids and wife on a vacation with while we drink beer and share songs that we like. Just wanted to send some love from Iceland to my favourite youtuber :)
Mr. Palmisano, I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and I think they are great. Any way you can do a reaction video for Matt Anderson ; (wagon wheel, I’m on fire covers) I’ve discovered him and I think he is good.
"idk, i've always had a thing for the root and flat seven". i am getting closer to taking the plunge and learn to understand and play music and not just listen, cuz i want to be able to say things like that and know wtf it means lol. get nerdy Michael, lol. it makes me feel the music that much more cuz i friggin LOVE this song and i inherently know it's magical but when u break it down to the theory it's friggin fascinating.
