You are definitely a throwback to the past. Sometimes simple is better. The hands are the key to great players. So true. Glad to see you carry on the tradition of players like Leslie West.
Awesome guy, awesome player. Almost got to meet him in Amsterdam at a workshop, but Corona happened and all gigs and events got cancelled 😕. Hope to see him live some day!
Hey Jared ! Great tips :) May I add: 1. action height - too close might end up in outfretting and a higher action gives you better bends and sustain 2. pickup height: one should adjust it until overtones and harmonics really shine through 3. prefer a lower out put pickup rather than one that's too hot. You can always gain up, but a hot pickup might sound muddy/muffled when you want clean tones. Go Jared: you're the man ! \m/
Excellent tips my friend, we'll be having you on our channel for a Tone Tips video too! Cheers for checking out our video with Jared, look out for more content with him coming soon!
All you said about I made the same expierences over 50 years of playing guitar. Now my favorite guitar is a Vandenberg 1 with one Dommenget Motherbucker 20 kohm pickup, 1 volume, 1 tone and 10 t0 46 strings, perhaps 9.5 to 44. Thanks and good luck /health!
Oh man you are so right ! Your tips are so helpfull ! The Clapton woman tone is the perfect example on is Firebird !!!! By the way your guitar sounds great !!!
Those double stops ring out differently when the tone is turned down, clearly tonally different. A great discussion on tone Jared. I'll agree that your hands are where it all mainly comes from.
Awesome tips from an awesome player, thanks for a great video! I had been playing guitar for many, many years before I started using my tone knob and I agree... it's actually a great way to tweak your tone and get some really great sounds out of your guitar without needing additional gear.
Thanks man🙂👍🎸🎸. You also have to feel and play it. Then you can also use effects. Thank you.🙂🎸🎸 Greetings from Germany and The Cute Urchins. All the best wishes. 🍀🍀🎸
You wanna know about tone, turn the knob on your guitfiddle to where it gurgleflerps and makes a moist biscuit in your britches. That's tone. That's America
Hey Jared, I’m new to your channel (I subscribed!). Love your tips on tone. For sure...it’s all in the hands! One question: Were you influenced by Ted Nugent? I see and hear that Ted “snarl” and feel in your playing 👍 Peace
I'm 54 and started playing in 1979, in this mentally-guitarded guitarcheopteryx* guitarcheologist's opinion🧐... Jared's playing has got 'Snakeskin Cowboy' and 'Stranglehold' entrenched in his timbre 'feel' & tonal palette, you would, fair dinkum, have to have half-a-dozen roo's loose in ya top paddock not to hear Nugent's fingerprints all over Nichols sound. I concur with ya FenderTeleDeluxe, bra. Peace, respect, far too much guitar is nowhere near enough.. & be nice to ya missus. 🎸Didyabringyabongalong Station,🦘Central Queensland,🤘Australia🪃 *(species of guitar-dinosaur🦖) [p.s. it's so bloody 🔥 hot 🌡here the🌴trees🌳are chasin' the🐩dogs🐕around!]
This gentleman has an intelligence and vocabulary far above his peers, many of which are incapable of stringing two sentences together without spewing immature disgusting filth.
Met him after the show in Des Moines 2 days ago. Super down to earth guy. He opened for John 5 and just went to the back of the room and invited people to come chat and grab pictures. Small bar, maybe 100 people there tops.
4:38 Many people sound like crap when using this kind of muffled tone, almost like their guitar is out of tune or poorly intonated. Jared is not one of those people.
Can’t understand why Gibson won’t throw on a set neck with Gibson headstock and call it a day. If I’m buying a signature model I don’t want it to be an epiphone when for an extra month of saving up I can get a Gibson!! Because well bottom line is it’s a Gibson and Gibson’s are the cool! Yet they insist on releasing signatures as epiphones.
Theres a theory that one pickup will let the strings resonate more than 2 pickups, because of less magnetism to the strings. Who knows, but one pickup guitars always sound huge to me
Why have another pickup if just the one does everything you want with just two knobs? A tone knob is $15 bucks at the most. A good pickup is $75 bucks at least.
