Brave choice for today. I have listened to Aurora's songs thousand of times but can count on one hand how many times I have listened to this song. It is perhaps the most achingly poignant eulogy I have ever heard.
Yea. it is real "cry game". For me it is even more emotional without this video made from other Aurora materials (when I first saw/listened to this one it was a video with almost static shot of Aurora looking somewhere in distance). I felt almost guilty when listening to this never released incredible sad and beautiful song for funeral of her friend as it is very personal song.
From my information, we should not feel guilty. The parents of Aurora's friend asked if she could post the recording of Aurora's performance during the funeral on the "memorial page" on Facebook or some other social media. Aurora said "Yes". A while later either Aurora or the parents called the other and said that copies were flying around on the internet. They all agreed that the "escape" of the song that Aurora wrote and performed for her friend, her parents and everyone affected in private should be allowed to roam free and maybe bring some comfort to others who have experienced loss. It is an absolute tear canal cleanser. It is IMHO good to have a few of them around. Even on the happiest of days filled with the best of news ... it can be good to sit down in peace and allow a late afternoon "rainshower" on a happy internal summer day, just to make it clear up again for a lovely summer evening after.
It is so very sad but also so beautiful. You already heard most of this, but here is the full info: She made this song for a private funeral in Feb 2014 for a friend from her class in school who died in a car crash. The only reason we know about this song, is because the girls mother made an open FB post in Jan 2017 on the 3rd commemoration day remembering her daughter with a video full of clips of her daughter with Aurora's song playing. That FB post is still open and available. The mother wrote this about the song (translated from Norwegian): "It is such a lovely song. It is beautifully written and at the same time so infinitely sad." And then she quotes Aurora: "It is important that the song can be cried to. That it is reminiscent of grief at the same time that it can relieve a little. This song is Ida's song. And it always will be. I only had her in mind when I sang it, and I think a little part of her is in it if you listen extra carefully." Only the audio is available from that post on FB, since the video it was attached to was not about Aurora, so this video was made by an Aurora fan. The video clips are from different small documentaries about Aurora, and has nothing to do with the song, but I think they chose very well, and they fit the very sad and somber mood of the song somehow enhancing it.
Such an emotional song written by a young girl for a loved one who had past so young. Aurora has the capability to bring out so much feeling and empathy in us. Thank you for such an honest reaction ❤

Yes, this song always makes me cry, I only listen to it with reactions for that reason. It is so beautiful. Our dreams, yes, we have our loved ones who are gone visit us in our dreams. I remember quite vividly, a couple of days after my Mother had died, we had a full house and I had slept on the couch, I dreamed Mom was walking down the hall towards me, I was so excited to see her, it woke me up from my wonderful dream by sitting up so quickly to run to her, and it was crushing to wake up to reality.

Yep. This song makes me feel the exact same way. This song is very hard to listen to. It's something that many of us can relate to on some level, and when delivered by Aurora, it's even more devastating.

We tried to warn you. As beautiful as this song (and fan video) is, I only listen to it on reactions, because it's just too painful. Aurora just has a way of making you feel her emotions, and my heart breaks every time. I can only imagine what the mom was feeling when Aurora performed this. If there is one song that sets Aurora apart not just from any other artist but also as a human being it’s this song.I mean where do you start when the mother of one of your best friends has suddenly died in an accident then asks you to write and perform a song at the funeral,the families pain alone must of been devastating but the pain that aurora must’ve been going through,it’s just hard to comprehend let alone put into words.This song for me goes far beyond anything I’ve ever heard it reaches into the depths of her love for a friend who she dearly loved with tender words for a dear family in grief.Aurora you are a beautiful humble human being.❤️
I discovered this song a few weeks ago and immediately came to number 3 in my top 100 best songs ever after Infections of a different kind and through the eyes of a child my only question is how more emotional can a song be and how can you listen to it without getting hit by an emotional hammer 😭😭😭
When I'm hurting from missing those I've lost i listen to this song and weep. I just feel better. It lets me, helps me let those emotions out. Aurora is special to me in this way. Thank you for opening yourself to all of us and sharing part of you.
