i love this video so much, when it came out, i had been stuck in a relationship of almost 6 years that made me completely lose my sense of self and identity. i lost my passions and lost my friends, and during the time of the release of this video was when i was beginning to wake up and face the reality of the relationship. i felt soooo alone, and this video gave me so much comfort throughout it all. i kept going back to it and thinking about how painful it would be to leave the relationship, but i couldnt help but want that pain, and the comfort of this video helped me see that theres more to the process of a breakup than just pain. this video helped me feel so much less alone, and i’m happy to say after having ended that relationship that the result of being brave enough to face that change was more than worth anything and was the best decision ive ever made for myself. thank you amy

Ending a long term relationship is brutal. The 'I felt like those 'x' years just disappeared' comment hit hard. The whole part after 24:45 as a matter of fact. My X was nearly as bad. When we moved in together, it was just down the street from her folks. She also spent more time there than at our own (with me being dragged along as an accessory). The 'ah ha' moment for me was when we spent a weekend at my own parents' house (which had to be planned weeks ahead, despite only being 30 mins away), and she insisted on leaving early. Guess where we went as soon as we got back. That's when I decided the daddy issues were too much. I felt that same 'why didn't I see it sooner' vibe after. 4 1/2 years for me.

Uh oh! This is a little too relatable! Not me shaving my ponytail off (they told me I’d look stupid without it) and changing the primary and secondary color of my hair post 4 year will-we won’t-we limerent breakup a week ago. Limerence SUCKS because you have 0 control in it. Your love becomes obsessive against your will, and you LOSE lose yourself. I’m thrilled to finally have broken up for good, and finally finding my way back to myself.

Blue, I’m so sorry for everything that you went through, and I’m so proud that you’re out of it now, and it feels so good to hear that you feel free now. I really relate with this new job I’ve had for the last year (not to diminish your experience, yours sounds way harder). On the surface, everything looks really cool and shiny, the pay is great, and my manager talks a big game about how he wants to make everything better. But in practice, I just feel no joy at all, everything works about half as good as it should, and none of the changes really improve anything. For a while, I wanted to stick with it and see if I could make it, but now it feels kind of dumb to “get back at them” just by working harder for them. My one year mark is in just less than two months, I think I’ll make a decision then. Your words talking about wanting to leave, and not liking the person who you were becoming are really sticking with me.
