Armed with these ideas, you could get the best safe you can afford, then if it doesn't have ideal organization you could easily make your own sliding racks and shelves.

I have found that no matter what kind of safe you buy hiding the safe is the best thing to do . They can not steal what they can not find.

actually you can park the long guns at a 45 degree angle and most scope layouts will clear one another to fit more long guns in the "U" shape format. Just a thought.

rifle rods are the best I have 20 long guns on one side in a liberty Lincoln 35 almost half with scopes

I have a Summit safe and it is built like a tank. Very pleased with the construction and security it provides. Yes, it was not cheap, quality does have a price.

David Anderson which summit safe do you have and what are the specs. Do you have a review on it?

I have the Denali model 6440 - dimensions are 64x40x28 and it weighs about 1,300 lbs empty. Mine is an earlier model so has a 1/4" plate door while the current model has a 3/8" plate door. I also think they upgraded the rest of the metal from 8 gage to 7 gage. The door surround and reinforcement is all 1/4". Don't have any reviews to offer, but there may be some out there on the net. All specs are online at Summit.com.

I would like a 4 rifle 6 pistol safe. Will you be making a smaller version of the Summit Everest 6430? or a new version? Call it Summit: Peek, Watch Tower, Tower, Valley, Wind, or? Anyway, I would like to see a smaller version for the basic simple shooters that only have a handful of firearms.

I built my own safe interior with 3 pull out sliders like the one in this video. Each one uses 4 overtravel drawer sliders. I have been trying to come up with a creative retention system. Is it possible to buy the gun retaining clips from the summit interior? Those look like just what the doctor ordered.

Get a "Sturdy" safe they are very good quality tough, strong safe. Its the best money I've spent on safes, i have one in each of my homes and going to buy another for the lake house.

Do guns in fire safes survive fires? Many safes use drywall as fireproofing. Drywall doesn't fireproof your house so I wonder how good of job it does in the safe. I assume most of the safes you sell use concrete instead of drywall?

Actually the majority of safe builders use dry wall or gypsum board. However Fort Knox has a vermiculite fiberglass blend that expands and contracts so it will hold up longer in high heat whereas dry wall will continue to expand until it finally breaks. Also concrete fill will sometimes expand due to the moisture content in the concrete... rare but we have seen it happen

mss burr it's summit safe but look at Reed safes, they make the exact same safe for summit. Summit is just buying a "brand name"

@@ronolsen30 those are big box Costco safes and they're pretty easy to break into. If you're spending less then $1k on a safe you're really not buying security.
