This third episode for The Pilot Mindset has been in the works since August 2022. Since Gundam Battle Operation 2 has been trying to push to PC for a while, it was pretty clear that there was going to be a significant influx of newer players that were going to encounter the game for the first time and have trouble understanding the tactical portion that makes GBO2 very unique and equally frustrating. Therefore I enlisted the assistance of ‪@avenger1_gbo260‬, who was no stranger to the competitive side of Clan Matches and had a wealth of knowledge regarding public matchmaking. It was a constant back-and-forth process of us hammering out as much information as we could in a small and understandable package, that I think that any new player to GBO2 will still learn something. I also believe that new players will be feeling a lot differently now about how they treat and engage in their matches. At the end of the day, regardless of whether you're in the game as a Casual, utilize the game to fill that competitive well inside you, or somewhere in between, I want to stimulate the conversation and knowledge behind GBO2 so that we all become better players. Special thanks to Avenger for his knowledge, perspective, and assistance in this major endeavor for the Gundam Battle Operation 2 community.

Alot of public players don't realize that positioning and staying sort of near your team matters I hope they all see this. Back to rated I go....

Some people have to learn the hard way. People have different learning speeds as well. But that’s why this is here, so people can start applying some of that knowledge and be more aware.

It really does come down to awareness, both of what your team mates are doing as well as the enemy. Generals need to I think be especially mindful of what both their raid and support alike are doing. I think it's a bad habit of some general players to expect the raid to do everything and magically hand them the support's head in seconds, but considering the other team will likely be actively looking to all in on the raid, sometimes they might need a little bit of help. Like if I see the Raid trying to make space and find a way to harass or even take out the support and I obviously see all of the generals zero in on the raid I'm gonna at least try to in turn harass their front line in order to give the raid an opening as well as take advantage of the opening they've passively given. And likewise with supports, a bad habit of the frontline is to forget the support exists...or consider that support MS often have less mobility than the other two types. This happens in what I lovingly call the "toilet phase" of arctic base, the start of the match, quite a bit. The frontline being too passive is probably the number 1 misplay I run into in this game, they have to know when to get aggressive or defensive rather than just keep on using neutral tactics. Awareness also extends to little things like not overcrowding the melee range of an enemy (in other words, if an especially melee centric MS is doing their thing you don't HAVE to also go in with a melee attack that could disrupt what they're doing or worse, stun/knock down both of you.), or not necessarily downswinging an enemy down too early and thus giving them invincibility frames sooner, allowing them to escape.

Love the video! Your guide is really on point on getting better in GBO2, the suggestions to watch some gameplay from the JP players is a great idea too thou the links you provided seems faulty.
