I was going to comment this as well. Glad to see someone did already. 👍 I have several very expensive Japanese made bonsai tools as well. Like the SPN-120, opening them too far can indeed stress, wear out, and loosen their alignment faster than they would otherwise. This can cause wiggle room play around the center axis, which in turn can further reduce cutting precision on the plane of the blade. My SPN-120 arrived without any noticeable play (off-axis movement) at all, which is a sign of a very well made tool - something to keep an eye out for as an easy and reliable indicator of quality. However, I did have to adjust the nut and bolt to make contact with the inner wall of the adjacent handle when the nippers were closed to keep the blade from potentially being damaged by handling pressure. It came with a small gap there, so the full force of closing was on the blade itself - something else to keep an eye out for when getting these nippers. Hopefully mine was an exception in that regard. Cheers.

From years of using other single-bladed nippers, I've always found that cutting nubs layer by layer gave me better results. If the layer above the cut is thinner, that gives the plastic above more room to flex, so that the plastic below doesn't flex as much. I usually try out the 2-cut method every now and then with High Grades, and it occasionally ends up with a stress mark in the middle of the nub. The GodHands aren't guaranteed to have a perfect cut every single time, and this is the method I use to help mitigate that 🙂

Yes the GodHand nippers are great! Definitely the sharpest nippers I've used, but the USAGS nippers are very close as well, if you're able to get your hands on those! I've been using the GodHand and USAGS nippers for quick builds (definitely quicker than sandpaper/sanding sticks/even the Gunprimer Raser) but if you're painting, I'd still recommend giving them a little bit of sanding to give a more uniform finish.

Yeah, I do find with the Godhands, the cut is cleaner, but there’s a little lip that makes it only a real clean cut on nubs that are on the edge of a part.
