Facial animations are probably synced for the Japanese dub then edited to somewhat match the English dub which probably makes them look weirder than normal
Seem like they spent all the mocap on the Mechs instead also they Human facial movement are sync to the Japanese dub so it make sense it look weird in ENglish version.
So glad they're going with the horror monster vibe for the Gundam. Those hollow eyes at the end, haunting. Like a mixture between Corvo's mask from Dishonored and a porcelain doll mask.
Imagine being a Zeon Soldier and every week of the last 1-2 months there's news about a new gundam... A series of mobile suits actually capable of living up to their name for longer than it takes for the opposing side to develop literally anything new.
And don't forget, there are several pale riders, blue destiny units and super dangerous GMs just walking the earth, It's actually safer to be on space at this point in the war because there could be Federation super weapon on the next corner your compsny turns
I'm super excited that they went with the bad guy's perspective to show how much of a monster a Gundam really is. You kinda forget that when you constantly see the perspective of the Gundam pilots, but they really are a beastly mech that should be feared. I'd love to see a similar series in the Wing universe where we can see Zero, Heavy Arms, etc... from the other side's perspective, and the eventual development of the Tallgeese mobile suit.
because I'm not seeing this in the comments, I'm going to state this now for you all. the Gundam in this trailer isn't RX-78-2. Instead, it's the Gundam Ground type otherwise known as Rx-78(G).
Bit weird how they have to add those types of character design because it’s being made currently. While in the show we never got septum’s or anything out of the ordinary from 1980s. Oh how culture has impacted media
@@iSaintSabas not only that, but Zeon is almost always portrayed as the sympathetic ones here and are that we, the audience, should be cheering on despite the atrocities they committed (the colony drop on Australia)
@@MatthewLoh-ru1mw This is true but it is offset by the fact that the gundam was such a monster of a weapon that killed Zeon wholesale. And in the trailer you get to see what 0078 looked like from their perspective.
The voice acting sounds bad and the facial animations are also bad. The Gundams look cool but this looks like it should be the cuts in-between a video game
It's incredible to see the Gundam painted in such a menacing, ghoulish light. A red-eyed monster that neither side has seen before. I also liked seeing the GM come up beside it to not just get a sense of how alpha the Gundam is, but to imply that it's not the only new toy the Feds have. The One Year War is about to get messy. As for the human animation, I think a lot of its problems could be solved with a little more eye movement. That would really add some more humanity to the otherwise stiff animation. It's soooo close! Almost there!
reminds me of GuP Ribbon Warrior which made our lovable Miho as a force of nature and a demon in tankery. Love this new perspective of our long known MCs by the enemies.
The animation quality is shockingly poor. Looks like mere keyframes without the proper tangent. The texture and lighting are primitive too. At 0:19 it shows the lookdev isn't done, specular map is flat and have no variation. Lighting is flat in every shot. This look more like a student love project than a Netflix show. Whatever studio is handling this, needs a proper VFX supervisor.
They don't, that's Seed, and only one faction has said tech in Seed. Not to mention, there's no reason to believe the characters would look different if they were genetically manipulated, what?
The Zeon characters see the Gundam as a horror movie villain or a movie monster. Meanwhile, inside the Gundam is a kid panicking and frantically flippling through a manual.
Well that is until the kid develops psychic space powers with superhuman spatial awareness and reaction speed, making him virtually unstoppable to any other modern technology and pilots. Not sure at what point of the war this show takes place, but that would be funny if it's really early on and Amuro is still just trying to figure the controls out lol
That looks like a customized Gudam EZ8 which was already a customized Gundam Ground Type for commander usage, seeing as how the head looks extremely similar, and going off the fact that they're showing the Gouf Custom again (Both from 008th MS Team). This one has V-Fins on its head akin to the original Gundam, the "Horns". Would be pretty interesting since we didn't really get to see much of the EZ8 beyond 008th MS Team.
Triggered a core memory from my high school adult swim years. The facials could use some work. However, just like everyone else it’s the hot mobile suit action I’m looking forward to. Will be interesting to see what a Gundam is from the Zeon point of view.
