This game really reminds me of Zone of the Enders and honestly, if the Suits didn't have Gundam heads (but somewhat Armored Core-like) this opening animation this would've been like a hidden with how hard they went with the CG animation for this
I remember seeing this opening so clearly back in the day when I had those boxy glass TVs. Now we have these thin HDTVs so it’s kinda hard to enjoy this opening. Even with phones and new PCs I never thought this game would look so pixelated when looking back at it.
Athrun self destructed so kira could do nothing to stop him. Shinn won because kira was protecting the Arcangel. In a straight up fight kira will not be beaten
Having just watched the original Japanese version of this opening, I have to say I actually prefer the dub in this case. It's strange, generally dubs suck, but this just had a more epic feel to it. Maybe it was the more realistic strained inflections on peoples' voices, and it was definitely attached to the music for this version.
SEED and Destiny were great gundam series cus they were realistic most other gundam series main character is ordinary person and they get in a mobile suit and they are instantly a mobile suit ace by ammmmaaaaaaazing coincidence and have no remorse for killing people and no feelings SEED presented a nice twist on the war by showing the pilots are people with feelings too, and focused also on the reasons behind the war, excellent story telling also both SEED and Destiny were dubbed really really well in english, with excellent voice acting lip syncing and no meaning lost in translation, with exception of maybe 1 or 2 lines in the whole series most people that hate on the english dubs of anime do it just on principle, they saw maybe 1 or 2 badly dubbed anime and after that they just trash talk all dubbed anime period no dicussion, just because
.....realistic? mhm....well i'm not gonna say seed is trash or that you aren't a real gunam fan cause you like seed. I would never discriminate against a fan in any shape or form. A fan of g gundam is just as much of a gundm fan as someone who likes 00. however being the gundam fan that I am, I got to point out a lot of things that are just simply not true and some thing that aren't necessarily wrong but that I dont agree with. before I talk about seed, im gonna talk about gundam in general. This quote specifically "most other gundam series main character is ordinary person and they get in a mobile suit and they are instantly a mobile suit ace by ammmmaaaaaaazing coincidence" Well to be perfectly blunt that statement is totally wrong and that gundam places a lot more importance on how characters actual deal with their situation rather than their mechs. Thats the whole point. Amuro, kai and hayato really struggle in the beginning of OG gundam, They do well because the mobile suits they have are miles above any zaku. The beam weapons will destroy the suit with one hit and the cannons tear through pretty much every thing. You see them fall over so many times just after landing from the catapult. Judau cant even figure out how to use the zeta's weapons and struggles to even close his cockpit hatch, he almost crashes the zeta multiple times. with most gundam series the main character is totally not normal in fact the only one that is really normal is amuro and he struggles a shit ton, if he was in a gm in episode 1 he would be dead since the gundam gets shot the fuck up. The gundam is the main reason amuro even survives he gets beaten down so hard, char would have finished him off with his first attack if not for how sturdy the gundam was. The fact he could even barely pilot the gundam was that the gundam had an AI to help with movements and controls, that why he can walk/ run while the cockpit only has 2 pedals. Most main characters gundam pilots are no where near normal to begin with. Even then they arent ace pilots for the most part. But most of them do have massive issues with killing people and do struggle trying to cope! Amuro is really the only one in the original series that is truly regular. However he struggles getting the courage to pilot the gundam and even says to himself multiple times the the things he is fighting are mobile suits and not people. He does not like to kill people however he realizes that its a necessary evil. Kamile is a newtype freaking god and designs a mobile suit pretty right off the bat plus he was a military enthusiast and had won many trophies through his schools pseudo mech battling club. though at the beginning of the series he doesn't hesitate to kill, He realizes that war means death pretty much from the beginning and Kamile cant handle all the hatred and death that war brings and falls into a depression very quickly, at the end of the series he feels like he's going to lose his mind ( lel he wasn't far off) Judou was a junk dealer with no formal education so he knows how to pilot albeit he can really only pilot one year war relics well at the start, he can barely even make use of zetas weapons until a few episodes in. He's very different from pretty much every pilot in that he exudes confidence and though he doesn't necessarily want to hurt anyone he will defend himself and will fight to protect his own without hesitation. Seabook was studying to be a mechanical engineer and was familiar with mechs before he got the f91, however he does get in his ms and do astonishingly well and can totally be considered an ace cause he's just that good, so i'll give you that one. Like Judau he realizes that its him or the enemy, he doesn't really hesitate but he does show that he detests mobile suits as they are killing machines. So he's fully aware of whats happening and is not proud of what he's doing. Uso has new type power through the rough and though he struggles at the beginning he does pretty well for someone with no prior experience, though he's still no where near an ace and many people die trying to protect him which then throws him into a spiraling depression as with each passing battle people are dying around him both friends and foes, crippling his sanity as time goes on and totally does not like hurting people or fighting and totally does hesitate to kill though his fear of death himself fuels his fights. He is not emotionally prepared for any of the events that happen. Probably the most tragic character in gundam. Banagher is the least normal of all the UC protagonists, he was experimented on to become a cyber newtype before his mother put a stop to his father's madness and took him away from that life. Like seabook he's studying to be an engineer and I guess there's something about being an engineer that makes people great pilots cause Banagher is a natural. Although if we're being super precise here, Banagher is a newtype piloting a suit full of psycho frames which enhances his new type abilities but he's also piloting a suit that tries to help the pilot operate the suit and improve reaction times by stimulating the pilots brain and muscles with the AI that is present during Unicorn's NTD mode. Domon is has trained for over a decade to participate in the tournament, plus he one of the only adults that is a main character in a gundam anime series right when where introduced to him. The whole point of the tournament is to not kill and since he tries to abide by those rules religiously he in turn does all he can to avoid killing and would never show any pride in killing. Heero is a trained killer and mobile suit pilot. He shows some forms of remorse while he reflects on what he does towards the end of Wing and the beginning of EW, none of that really changes how he deals with things and still resorts to violence though to be fair he doesn't know any other life since he was trained since he was a small child Garrod knows how to pilot mobile suits since before he got the X gundam another case of his ms carrying him though he gets his mech wrecked in the first fourth of the series and is no way a savant. Though he's better than most at the start and since I'm pretty sure you were using hyperbolae when you said "ace" so im just gonna give this one to you for the part of showing no remorse (he's in no way a normal person) since even though technically speaking he already had experience and knew how to pilot mechs I wouldn't call him a pilot by any stretch at the beginning of X.
Loran was a trained to pilot the dolls and on top of that the Turn A being pretty much the most powerful gundam freaking syncs with the pilot and guides him so hell how he sucks as much as he does at the start is much more puzzling. Loran has a pretty big issue with killing since the people he's fighting is also moon race, but it should be noted that Loran has a really strong sense of justice and usually ends up killing people while trying to protect other people. Shin is trained to pilot ms and is a soldier. He doesn't show any remorse in killing, he's a soldier and recognizes that its his responsibility to not hesitate and that the trigger needs to be pulled. He's no socio path but he and Garrod equally do not give a fuck. He is by no means regular, but yea he doesn't give a shit but he's from the series you're trying to defend so obviously you must of forgot that part and you're really talking about kira with seed which is fine since destiny is inferior to seed imo. Setsuna like Herro is a trained killer since a child and was then trained to be a meister. Unlike Herro, He not only doesn't show any form of reflection at any point, he feels totally justified in what he's doing and believes its the right thing to do. With Herro, he doesnt care what's right or whats wrong, the mission is the mission. With Setsuna, he thinks that since he's in gundam that everyone else should buckle over and give up, and he has no problem making that statement and taking action. Just that Kira is totally not an ordinary person. He gets into his mech just like amuro does just that he gets up, realizes the balancer is off and see that the programming is not finished then freaking reprograms his suit on the spot, then proceeds to not run into any problems with his mech! Thats freaking ridiculous! Not only that he really has a much easier time than amuro does in 0079 as he doesnt have any real struggle that he feels he cant handle until he gets to earth and fights in the desert up until then he makes amuro and uso look like idiots ( though to be fair the seed universe has a much higher bar with skill just because of how the action is directed so if you compare kira to wattfield he's no ace, but put him in any other universe and he'd be stellar.) His response...HE RE-PROGAMS HIS SUIT AGAIN ON THE SPOT IN 5 MINUTES!!!!! His programming skills make bill gates look like a freaking scrub, that is totally not realistic especially in a world with far more complicated technology than we do today, so no way can he just reprogram his suit like that. Its not like he's just readjusting the code, he's flat out redoing/ finishing it! So you've got 4 characters who are both regular people with no piror experience that are ace's right off the bat. Seabook, Banagher, and well Kira. Thats being super precise with just you trying to compare seed to other series. Thats not even touching upon how people survive nuclear explosions, stoping nuclear meltdowns by flipping a damn switch, and surviving being inside of an exploding mech and coming out unscathed. To be completely frank saying giant robots are realistic sounds a bit crazy...HOWEVER most gundam series do show an extremely realistic interpretation of war and what people have to go through THAT INCLUDES SEED. Most follow the rules of their universe or fail to really establish their rules like 00 Seed is pretty much the only series that establishes rules but goes against them at later times...
iDoom9 well bill gates is a normal human, Kira was born artificially, and genetically altered to be the ultimate coordinator, also he was working as a programmer while in high school, and the strike was programmed simply to work for naturals, so the fact that he was able to comprehend it's system immediately is hardly unbelievable, the show is pretty vague on whether he actually changes the programming at the start, he spends a lot of time with it later so its not far fetched that he is able to fix the OS later while fighting in the desert, so maybe I can get the argument that Kira has a unfair advantage to amuro, but its not really unrealistic, given his background but its hard to have an argument about realism in a show about giant mechs fighting in space in a futuristic setting so one ever said the freedom was already experiencing a meltdown at the time it was destroyed, it's quite open for debate there, you could say by him shutting down his reactor it closed it off so the core could not be detonated by the external explosion of the rest of the machine blowing up, you could even argue since the freedom wasstate of the art when it was built, the cockpit was meant to have blast resistance to the rest of the machine blowing up, it's not like he was caught in some massive explosion, it was just stabbed in the waist so it could be argued that that just set off the energy to the weapons systems which caused an explosion but because the core was shutdown it didn't go nuclear and the armored cockpit survived that, also since we all thought a main character was dying the explosion was probably ramped up triple that was realistic for the damage done, if you recall in SEED when Flay's escape shuttle is destroyed somehow having that tiny shuttle blow up the explosion completely covers the freedom as well making Rau think it was destroyed, so the freedom explosion was accurate to the damage done it would have been pretty small if no explosion at all it should have just fallen down into the water with no explosion, you imply the core was alredy detonating which is not the case it can also be said that almost ANY anime goes against it's own rules at one time or another so gundam seed isn't any kind of exception or special case
Good game. But there's one thing I don't like about this game, is that when the game was released for the English and the American version, I found out that all of the Japanese music, including the opening themes, closing themes, and the insert songs from the anime TV series has been removed and replace for unknown reasons.
I agree, the english is never bad for Gundam VO, and the japanese is just as good. (In terms of fitting the characters.) And I also agree that it's a pain to get points, the best mission is Kira's desert one. Easiest to get more points with a melee weapon in that mission.
o0 it's 2008 people! I'm a dub person myself, but all in all being that its 2008 can't just accept bad dubs. They're not getting any better and it's not like you can change them or make a difference to change them with your opinion. So just accept the fact and if it bothers you that much, stick to watching stuff in subs ^.^
I'm pretty sure you haven't played OMNI Vs. ZAFT II Plus, Dynasty Warriors Gundam, or SD Gundam Scad Hammers yet. Though it is good, they didn't have the technology we had today. So the gameplay was kinda flawed.
Maybe I'm just the black sheep, but I think that the english VAs that dub pretty much all of the Gundam anime are great. Gundam Seed is no exception. Having said that, once you beat story mode and mission mode, accumulating points for all the cool MS's is just too much of a pain.
no kira is a super coordinator but if its the abilites your talking abt then kira wouldnt be the only one authrn and shinn both have newtype abilities aka seed mode and if your true abt it they both beat kira for watever reasons
its different, wingzero's time, all the leo's guns coudlnt do shit to the gundam alloy. In seed's time, every beam is a REAL beam. So its a little more realistic
I will say this much..at least this game used the original english cast from the anime for the game..instead of replacing everyone like in Battle assault 3
1.) Seed Mode is different from Newtype ablities, since Newtype abilities is the ability to communicate with others far away without the use of technology. Basically psychic powers. Only Mu and Kira has this ability naturally, while Ray and Rau are both clones, probably inherited the ability from the original 2.) Kira is better than Athrun and Shinn, but loses to both of them because of his pacifist nature of fighting, while both Athrun(1st half of SEED at least) and Shinn fight to kill.
Arena styled. There are 30 phases, 15 each for Athrun and Kira, and each is set in its own arena with set boundaries, although the terrain might not show it. It's similar to a DBZ game, I guess.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space is way better than this game and it came 2 years before this. By the way, I can't believe they reuse the track Shot of Honor from Encounters in Space. Talk about ruining a song from a great game with the image of Gundam Seed or to be more specific this travesty of a game. Also the dub in Encounters in Space is surprisingly done better than this game.
Strike Phoenix What the heck man? Just because I don't like the Gundam Seed / Seed Destiny doesn't mean you can label me as a UC fag. That is very uncalled for. I like G Gundam, Gundam X, Gundam 00 and Iron-Blooded Children, so I'm not biased on just the UC timeline. In fact, I hate Victory Gundam and the first half of ZZ.
Strike Phoenix At least we agree on one thing. Victory Gundam was not very good. Besides the ridiculous amount of deaths, Bandai made Tomino change the original first two episodes to show the Victory Gundam in the first episode.
This game's OP was the reason I was tricked into trying to like it multiple times. Not once have I been able to make it past the third level of this awfully made, clunky mess of a game.
in my opinion this was the best Gundam SEED game to come out in english i completely beat it and lvled up all my partners but i dont play it as much anymore but this sure brings back memories i usually play Rengou vs ZAFT II PLUS now, which is only in japanese unfourtunately but it's a much better game
