@maynorsandoval8337 As a fan since 1992ish.. I've been excited for the Orioles, maybe 4 or 5 years since then. This team is good. They just got a good relief pitcher before the trade deadline. Don't count the O's out on going deep in a playoff run.
@@DustinPlatt they’ll do damage in the playoffs but it’s far too early to even say ws contenders. Might as well tell that to everyone entering the playoffs. One relief pitcher won solve their starting pitching woes
I've been an Orioles fan since 1995, before I even moved to Maryland because when I played baseball I loved Ripken but have always loved the team, even during the bad years. Camden Yards is awesome, Baltimore is a great city, and the fans are special. It's so awesome seeing us doing so well.
I don’t agree with Billy when he said Gunnar will play short for the O’s for the next 8 to 10 years. Remember Jackson Holiday is only a year or so away. I think Gunnar is the 3rd baseman in The O’s future because even though he will be a future MVP candidate, Holiday is projected to be even better. The Future is bright in Birdland for sure!!!
@@josephmatronI agree, but not Mayo hopefully. He is a legitimate power threat that has the ability to hit 35+ HRs per year. I read an article that describes his power as “Judge like”
As a Red Sox fan am actually pround of the O's this year, I cant be mad on how well they have played this year and honestly I hope they go far it's been a while and its well deserved!! 😎👍
I feel the days of playing exclusively 1 position are behind us. A lot of the success has to do with our players being very flexible and able to play many positions.
Orioles Magic is back in 2023! Multiple positions for multiple players is the Orioles way now. Also, getting creative with the bullpen has made them top of the league. This new style of baseball works for this creative roster and manager. Lets go Os!
Gunnar took a little while to heat up but man is he on fire now. Every game he adds a little more spice to that ROY conversation. I think he is half way to the American League rookie of the month already again.
Gunnar brings the whole package. Power, speed, pitch recognition, plate discipline and ability to defend... a premium position He along with Adley R will be perennial WAR 4-5 players He will haunt those teams [drafting in late Round 1 & CBA] who bypass him.
This is the best Orioles team I've ever seen them put together. What's scary is that it can be better. Once they get Mullins back and Adley finds more balance between OBP and power production they'll be better. They'll also improve when or if they get better middle relievers. I think they could also use 1 more ace like starter. But who couldn't use those things?
Good to see Billy Ripken again. Last time I seen him was at Sears about 22 years ago. My ex sister-in-law was married to the Ripken's cousin. Good people.
Worked with their foundation for a few years. Billy is the kind of guy who keeps the locker room loose. He's always pranking someone. Elly, their sister, is one of the coolest people I got to work with. Just down to earth good person.
Gunner is the shortstop for now but the third baseman. With Jackson on his way and Westberg at second. Their are others in systems so the future is bright 😊
I don't know of Gunnar playing SS for long. I mean, once Holliday comes up in a year or two, that position might be contested. Unless in the interim time the Orioles flip Holliday to 2b either at the end of this season or the start of next year (probably with Norfolk).
I don't disagree but I'd only trade for Ohtani if they can reach a multiyear agreement with him first. Ohtani wants to win and frankly there is no team that appears poised to win more for the next 5-6 years than B-More. Whether Angelos will get off the scratch is another question. Rich Kubatko is poo-pooing the whole idea. Kubatko is a company guy so this not surprising to me, but he mentioned that Ohtani doesn't want to play on the east coast which I had not heard before. If true then Ohtani is likely headed to either SD or LA.
@@4thegloryofthelordthey’re not fucking stupid. They wouldn’t trade their already proved starters. The main players in the deal would be some of their top prospects, which they have a lot of. That’s why it’s so important to have a good farm system.
@@leroyapplegate5049 Could do, but I think that's where Westburg will end up. If Jackson was long term 2B, I'd expect to see him start playing there in AA.
It’s hard to call, all of these young infielders could play any spot, really. It would be epic to see them all playing in their desired positions but someone has to make that sacrifice lol
@@leroyapplegate5049 Frazier is gone after the season (1 year deal), if not at the deadline. He doesn't even factor into the equation by the time Holiday is in the picture.
The Os have a ton of middle infielders comin. I like Gunnar up the middle but think they will keep running different SS out there until they know if Jackson Holliday is a dude.
@@michaelhession2105 I feel really good about the team as is. The starting pitchers don't get enough credit. I think a trade this year would kill the dugout.
@@robinlwareorioles paying top dollar for their stars? I don’t think so, they’ll let them all walk and then go back into a rebuild like they always do cause God forbid they spend a little money
It used to be common to use such terms used in an affectionate way. Now days there are not many people where you can still do that without having the PC police stroke out on you.
Gunnar struggles turning double plays from SS. That's an issue that is over shadowed by the fact that you don't get errors for double plays not made due to bad throws. Once they get the 1st out, the bad throw to 1st doesn't matter unless the runner advances.
@@ITJustMeKG Where in my comment was there any hint of homoeroticism? Not sure why your mind went there, maybe some deep seeded issues. Projection maybe?
