My only experience with the line was the Zaku II FZ, but I found it to be a pretty solid kit. I appreciate how it tried to fill in some of the gaps in the MG line, so you could have a nice consistent 1/100 scale display. The lack of reprints definitely hurts though, especially with how the prices have inflated for something designed to be a somewhat budget friendly product to begin with.
we could have had it all, mg turn a reprint around the same time as the mg turn x release, with re/100 kapool and maybe a re/100 sumo or bandit to go along with it
i always thought pbandai was like the generation selects of transformers but for gundam, but now realizing how hell pbandai is if hasbro ever did the things bandai does there would riots in the streets
Not to defend p Bandai but arguably it did help to push reprints for some mainline kits when p Bandai happened but still there so many kits that has yet to receive the reprint like mg the o.
I'm a huge fan of this line, I probably bought half of them. To me it seemed pretty obvious that RE/100 was supposed to pick up where the B Club line of resin kits left off. In fact several RE/100 subjects were previously only resin. There was a time, like say when G Gundam or 0083 were current, that the market could only sustain so many expensive to tool mainstream plastic models. The ones that didn't make the cut often made it straight to B Club as option sets or entire kits. Nowdays the mainstream Gunpla market is GIGANTIC and there's honestly no such thing as a subject too obscure so that's maybe why it died.
The RE/100 kits get reprinted from time to time. However, they tend to be P-Bandai exclusive (even though you can get them at Gundam Base too). And even then, it is still incredibly tough because they will be bought up in a flash.
Re/100 Gundam mk 3 has been my dream kit since I've started building kits back in 2020 and after 4 years of waiting they have never reprinted it and the market is so bad because it's a old print that the pbandai red one is the same price or cheeper than the retail which drives me crazy because I can get mg kits from the 90s but I can't get a 1/100 no grade kit from 2016
Mostly 3rd party kit manufacturers have adopted the HiRM. Amd pretty much amplified them by 100. Check out the red ogre kyomori and the in era+ aurora. They are both really good kits.
My gunpla collection is almost exclusively 1/100 scale, MGs and RE/100s. My RE/100 collection consists of the Dijeh, Zaku II FZ, and both Jagd Dogas (Gyunei's and Quess'). Unfortunately I missed my chance at getting the Gunblastor...
One thing that's not mentioned about why RE/100 is in the back burner is price. RE/100 was priced so low and expected to be price below MG. Some of the new HG priced even higher then RE/100. You can imagine the money the can make per kit is possible to be lower in comparison. The unreleased RE/100 then rebrand as FM in order to price a bit higher then some MG on the lower end. You can then see why they do not want to waste production time to reprint RE/100.
The difference between Full Mechanics and Reborn 100s is that Full Mechanics have more compact and standard boxes and aren't as niche so they stay as self warmers for long.
5:20 There is some good news, this year we've gotten some RE/100 reprints. Dijeh was reprinted a couple months ago, and at the start of this summer Guncannon Detector is being reprinted, alongside the GPO4. Not to mention the Nightingale can also be found everywhere rn. Also there may be a Bawoo on the way so that's nice.
Bandai sure loves to introduce new lines then forget about them, huh? About a year ago I got a Bandai model (about MG size) from SPT Layzner. The box was labelled with R3 "Real Robot Revolution". Upon doing some research, there was only about half a dozen kits in the line. Only from Layzner, L-Gaim and Xabungle. Kind of a shame they never continued on with it. It would have been nice to get more large scale kits from lesser known 80s mecha series.
Considering they are sold for like x3 the original price now this line's status of obscurity and rarity only brings Bandai more money now. I won't be surprised if they abandon the FM line and make something new again, so that the resellers could slap those x3 price tags on FM kits too, because rare. You should have seen how the RE/100 Gerbera re-release rendered the original Japanese P-bandai store page unusable for the whole day because people kept hungrily refreshing the page to be able to snatch one. It went out of stock the second pre-orders opened.
The "planned release" of the RE/100 kits are all over the place 🗿 -> Efreet Custom became RE/100 -> Jegan and GM Sniper 2 became MG -> The rest are...... 🤷♂️ -> The best bet for Gaia Gundam is for it to become FM 1/100. This also applies to Reborns Gundam and Leo.
Wasn't Re-100 just rebranded as the Full Mechanics line? The one that gave us the Calamity, Raider and Forbidden gundams? Please excuse my ignorence, but I haven't really kept up with gunpla for over a decade outside of some specific P-Bandai releases.
Full mechanics is similar being non grade 100 but they are there own line that so far focus on alternate universe ms. The non grade 1/100 ibo line got rebranded to full mechanics ibo but all 3 are there own line of kits
my problem with RE/100 is that Bandai also tried to give it minimum accessories like HG, especially the hands. most of the kits only come with 2 grabbing hands and (usually) 1 gun holding hand. no fist, no relax open hands, and no action open hands. another thing that make me dislike FM IBO is the side part of chest armor. rather than connected to the chest armor, it connected to the parts in between arm and torso. you can only raise the arm up to 90 degree. if you want to raise it higher, you have to rotate the middle part between torso and shoulder, but if you do that, it will also rotate the side part of chest armor. IMO, it look ugly
the 1/100 Reborn-One Hundred idea can be traced all the way back to the No-Grade 1/100 kits which literally just scaled up HG kits that are mainly from SEED and 00 universe , now what we have are the successor lineup called 1/100 Full Mechanic
so now the hope is no longer a RE/100 Kshatriya, now it's hoping that it'll come out as a full mechanics kit :P (it's the only 1/144 scale i own as it's the only scale they released them in unless you go 3rd party, which always look kewl from far away but up close always look oddly proportioned)
if we got a re/100 capule and hygogg i would have started going feral., such a shame that all these kits go for insane prices and are barely reprinted now
This line would be perfect for less popular mobile suits Its quality also went up over time so in theory, they should have been able to release even better kits if they kept going But Bandai is more busy milking SEED to death And other fun stuff like the two G fighters kits were thrown in premium hell Fucking shame
The reason why the Reborn One-Hundred line died is becouse they always ended up being more expensive then regular master grades, even if they were small mobile suits from victory. And their quality was usually worse then highgrades. the better ones like the gpo4, mk 3, efreet and dijeh were basically just oversized hg´s. The only kit in the line that was better then a regular hg from that time was the zaku F2.
I never understand why the last RE 100 line is the Zaku Kai, they produced so many MG Zaku variants over the years. For IBO, Kimaris Vidar should be the last line, not Bael.
I'm guessing it's because unfortunately the dimensions of pretty much every part of the Zaku Kai differ quite significantly from the standard Zaku so they'd either have to redesign the entirety of the 2.0 inner frame for one kit or add so many additional parts to modify the inner frame that it'd be stupidly expensive for a grunt suit.
The idea of RE is kinda stupid IMO, why make an obscure design into 1/100 scale and cost similar or more to the MG? You think that's gonna do well in the market? I'm not even surprise the line is replaced by Full Mechanics.
NOOOOOOO WE COULD HAVE HAD A GAIA GUNDAM NOOOOOOOOO CURSE YOU BANDAI WHY WOULD YOU TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME YOU BETTER MAKE IT UP FROM MAKING AT LEAST A TRIO FROM SEED DESTINY AND THE SAVIOR
my only experience with re100 is the lindwurm (based on bawoo), and i hated it. the leg build feels worse than a HG. hg construction in that size dont work too well. inner frames dont just serve as aesthetic but also to support the increased weight in plastic
I absolutely adored the RE100 line. It’s the only way we would’ve seen many particular suits in this scale. I still need to get my hands on some of the P-Bandai kits, like the Shokew and the Vigna Zirah
it's because bandai ass-kissers like mecha gaikotsu that kept hating on the RE100 that helped killed this linem if the line continued, we could have had a 1/100 Kshatriya! and perhaps other good mechs. who cares if its not an MG? not all of us can afford every kit out there. the Reborn line was a good middle ground for bandai and consumers.
I cry myself to sleep every night knowing that I will never get a Retail 1/144 F90 Gundam Kit with its Mission Packs as extra parts kits they can sell to me on P Bandai
