I’ve been guilty of bashing Axl’s higher range, but you can hear him try his ass off and isn’t hiding behind any sort of auto tune or backing track. For that alone he deserves major respect, and I’m sure he’ll be able to pace himself better as he plays it live more!
Great video, not bad for the first time singing it live. I think Axl will get better once he figures out which parts work better for him to sing high or low live.
it does sound like he's trying to figure it out. Theres such a big difference between his 2 sounds & it seems like when he switches he looses his voice for a second or 2. Still sounds like he's struggling a bit but I think he's getting better
he needs to sing it in his low voice, just like the released version....don't know why he is trying to hit the high notes in the verses. But when he sings low, he nails it.
Axl is the boss!!!! He gives 300 percent every show...no lip syncing like some people cough ..Vince Neil ...singing in his lower register suited him just fine. There is only 1 Axl..will never be another NO one compares
@@GR-ir2buTrying? The dude probably makes more in a night than you do in 6 months. There’s no “trying to be a rockstar” when you’re selling out stadiums.
I was there and I can say it sounded amazing live. The entire band did, axle's vocals, all guitars (includes duff and slash and fortus) keyboards and piano, drums...literally everything was on point and sounded amazing. Can't complain, up there with one of the best shows I saw (in my top five shows)
@@WesmancanI saw them in 1988 in a very small venue and it was amazing and I have followed them ever since and always will. Let me ask you this, I don’t know you or how old you are but, I’m 53 and I can tell you I’m not exactly the same as I was in the 90’s, I sure hope you are though after that comment. I was at the Pittsburgh show last night and Axl looked and sounded AMAZING!!
Nothing's any easy song for him to sing live anymore, his voice has been shot for the past decade, not sure why people keep paying hundreds of dollars to see this.
@@dereksaunders5955 I love love love GnR but being defensive about comments over Axl’s voice just exposes how true it is. He sounds embarrassingly terrible at some shows right now. I’m the one who made the comment he sounds better here, but honestly it’s still not good. It’s just not. Fans making up age excuses, Steven Tyler still rips every show. Maynard from Tool is just as old and sounds great live. Because they make adjustments and accommodations to avoid embarrassing themselves. Axl for some reason insists of performing in a way he’s no longer capable of and won’t adjust to his body now. They are ripping fans off playing so many shows now, every now and then you’ll see a show where Axl actually sounds decent and you realize if they would just play less, he wouldn’t sound so terrible most nights. They are playing lots of really long sets right now and it’s coming at the expense of embarrassing Axl and ripping off their fans.
@@forgettablelisaThey should have been using the pandemic period of no touring to record an albums worth of material whether new or not so he could at least sound good in his lower range. No idea why they still insist on playing these overlong setlists.
Vamos ver as próximas!
@@petergunner8666 the screaming parts just seemed unnatural and isn’t how it should have been. I’m talking about the entire show. As soon as he started singing I was like, “oh no”.
Absolute legends. Axl's vocals are raw, always were. It's a process of working out how best to sing in live performances. I still remember my first time listening to GnR was 1987. I was 9 years old, blew my mind, and still does to this day. Can't wait for new material. ❤
if you pay attention, in 2 moments between the choruses in the middle and at the end of the song, axl uses drivers and that proves that he is capable of using them, he doesn't use them by choice, it certainly must require an effort on his part, it doesn't make any sense what happened in this performance that he used it under the conditions in which he has been performing, he reaches the high notes even without drivers and this indicates that he still has vocal range and contradicts the version of he "lost his voice" and honestly I think his voice is clean it is simply an option adopted by him.
I've said this for a long time. His voice isn't gone it's a choice he's making to sing clean . He can turn it on like q switch when he wants to. I think it's just easier for him to sing clean
@@gracengragg2730exactly! he’s using his clean voice because lets be fr, he’s been singing for over 40 years and the constant rasp damaged his vocal chords and he chooses to use the clean voice because he doesnt want to damage them as much anymore. he also sounds sooo much better live, i saw them last month and they were spectacular, his vocals were really good, especially for his age
@@gracengragg2730 You are correct. People are under the impression that Axl can’t sing because we haven’t had truly new music since 2008. The rock the rock track he did for looney tunes proves that Axl is a studio gangster, which is fine at his age but it’s just maddening that he won’t release at least some of mountains of music that must in the vault by now (or somehow can’t release it if Geffen is the real problem)
@@maya-lf4tj Yep. I think it's harder to hit the high rasp notes and as you said it can damage his vocal chords so he chooses the falsetto clean voice . Uses that vintage axl power when he wants to show off .
Axl doesn’t use any backing tracks where it is coming to light that all of your favorite 80’s rockers are using backing tracks and some guitar and bass players aren’t even playing
Respect ✊🏼
I like this song...and first time live too! He is just trying to figure out the best way to sing perhaps live is all...he's not only one of the best frontmen in the business...He is a true entertainer!
Your a BOSSS BROTHA❤❤❤. THANK YOU for putting that up. I'm diggin that shit like a grave!!!! It's overwhelming for me hearing it I'm like oh God it's Slash and Duff on a guns track. You rock !!🛎🛎🛎GITRMTHRFKR‼️ 🥊🥊
.. he's still got it, no doubt, and at last, a new rock song with a proper guitar solo.... I've been saying forever now, 'where have all the solos gone?'.... nice one boys, love that sound, classic GnR at it's best!! 🤘❤️🇺🇸 (🏴 fan👍)
I love axl and gnr but a lot of the newer tunes proved how important Izzy Stradlin was to the band and the song writing. A lot of classic gnr tunes and lyrics was credited to Izzy working with Axl.
Finally, someone who actually knows what made GNR great. I keep seeing all of these comments making excuses for Axl's vocals and the obvious subpar songwriting. I guess people have low expectations these days.
1:58 in these seconds you can really hear that old Axl for a second... its nice to see people not bash him as much now. he deserves credit for still doing what hes doing! im excited for some new GNR
I like the song,, That's a Very Hard Song to Sing Live Axl Done a Great,,no A,Brilliant Job Singing it Live,, HE Looks in Shape,,,, well Done to G,n,R,,,, .
The sensible thing to do would be to have Duff, Dizzy and Melissa take either the "you're all alone" bit or the "Got a lot more than I bargained for" bit, and sing the response, rather than trying to sing the *whole damn thing* himself.
I often wonder if he gets to the live rehearsal with a new song and realises halfway through that, "oh fuck, I forgot to write in somewhere to take a breath." TWAT, Don't Damn Me, the fast bit from YCBM, Perhaps… he just keeps doing it!
Unfortunately for Axl it is not 1999 anymore its 2023 and his voice is completely shot, it is better to release brand new stuff then old tracks recorded over 20 years ago.
I think the issue with Axl and I don’t mean this in any bad way is mental. He just won’t accept the fact that he is not young anymore. They should drop down an octave to help him. Many old bands do that, they adapt and its natural.
Glad to see G&R back in the ring. Axl could comeback to greater than before with work and careful living. I am rooting for the band to rise from the ashes and show us the best has yet to come!
incorrect...official post from GNR page says this is first collaboration song that Duff and Slash came up with Axl. Whether or not this was lying around from Chinese Democracy is one thing but this isn't like Hard School or the other song that just had Slash and Duff rerecorded their parts on it. This was an actual song they put time in. It kinda grows on you.
I love GNR!! Grew up listening to them. Im 55 years old . Im no doctor but if Axl were to lose some weight and try to detox his lungs, he may have some wind in his pipes to help his vocals. Overall, I give his live vocals a B- and that is a solid solid compliment considering his hay day in the 90's.
Impressive. Unfortunately he's lost what I refer to as his Chinese vocal. Which was a pretty unique octave in the early 90s post GNR. Now it's referred to as what everyone calls. Mickey Mouse. Give him credit for trying and he hits the rest of the notes perfectly. That scream at 3:55 was perfect
How did he even do it? If you listen closely you can hear he is singing both in his low voice AND his high voice at the same time! How is that even possible?
Love this song played it more than 20 times already and its cool how he says he wont be able to sing the song like the origanial voice thats cool he is aware he cant
