People shitting on Axl vocals here are actual smooth brains lmao. He sounds perfectly fine and pretty good for a dude that nearly had his voice ruined by lack of monitor feedback on stage for a majority of his prime. In ears changed the game in ways some casuals will never understand.
@@barry1369 In the end it really boils down to their singing style. As impressive as it is how Steven Tyler's voice aged, he definitely never sang with the same amount of distortion as Axl. Though Axl definitely still "has it" he can't bring out the rasp very often anymore. It's unfortunate Axl hasn't decided to see a vocal coach to produce that sound in a healthy manner, because he's pretty hit and miss as-is.
@@MisterSwagify Hate to break it to you dog but there is no healthy manner to produce that distortion. What Axl hasn't been able to find is a good, balanced natural tone to sing in. He made a career singing HIGH and distorted. He abandoned the distortion for the most part, but has insisted on using that mickey mouse falsetto to keep singing in that high key. His saving grace would be to find a good natural tone to sing in, like James Hetfield found for Metallica's live performances nowadays. However he hasn't done so, either because he can't, doesn't want to, hasn't thought about it or because his natural voice is too low and he would need for the band to down-tune their instruments a half step or two. I'm partial to the latter, since his voice sounds the best in a song like Chinese Democracy in which the guitars are tuned to Drop D. Also I recall reading that he did work with vocal coaches multiple times during the 90s and 2000s, so God knows what the fuck is going on.
Listening with earbuds in, not only do I think he sounds fine, I actually like how he messed the second verse up, back in the 90s he might have got so angry and flustered that he just walks off end of show 😆 he has got more laid back, he realized what he did, sang the end of the second verse correctly and then finished the song, in 2021 that's good stuff, and it's so nice to see the 3 of them up there together, lots of history there man - good times let's rock 🤘

I give Axl credit for covering "Slither" as a sign of respect for fallen front man Scott Weiland. Does he sound great while doing so? No, but I admire him for paying homage. He used to be such a massive douchebag for the longest time. He's humbled considerably to be doing something like this.
