When I see stuff like this, I can appreciate the egolessness. If you are willing to perform a song that's not yours, it means you can contribute to something that's bigger than yourself. This is real legacy-building material.
Slash, duff and axl. Doing the chinese stuff and adding there twist to songs (for duff and slash) is really a treat. And hearing axl do VR makes it feel like the original guns never lost it
Richard Fortus' contribution to the band's stage performance and presence is very underrated. He clicks perfectly with the others and the music. Absolutely killer rhythm guitar, and more!
His voice is still there, he's just taking care of it now. That's why he does the easy mode high notes, now. Obviously, his voice isn't what it used to be, but he could probably hit some of those high notes if he really tried, it would just be torture on his vocal chords while he did.
@@medranothelion Got to be fair though, pretty much nobody sounds exactly the same after they get older. I mean listen to James Hetfield now? He sounds like a country singer trying to sing Metallica.
@@travisray96 i agree. but i mean, the dude's selling out stadiums, he could do what he wants. also, maybe his chest voice is rly stressful on his body to sing in, so he doesn't do it much
@@mskathyjones77 i think the same, i'm a really huge guns n' roses fan but i have to admit that axl isn't so older to sound like that. When i heard him at 2016 he sounded really good actually, i don't know what happened with his voice after that year. But well, in this song he isn't so bad
lechuck333 I don’t think axl can hit those high notes with the raspy scratchiness he used to have, every video for the past ten years has comments about him singing like Mickey Mouse or someone’s grandmother. I’m wondering if he had throat surgery, blew his voice out or does it on purpose to not hurt his throat... thing is there were sparks of that high pitch high energy distorted sound when he was with ac dc so not sure why he doesn’t do that with gnr.
Perhaps Axl could sing the chorus in his clean voice, the same one he uses in Estranged, as Duff's high-pitched voice would make an excellent counterpoint. Axl making a high voice in the chorus sounds very mixed with Duff and Melissa's voice frequencies.
@@HattieJosh no shit sherlock, he’s asking for a studio version with axl. I would be interested too, this performance sucks but when i saw him he fucking killed it
in the verses i can actually notice Axl still has a bit of his rasp. if he plays in his deep voice i feel like people would except that more than trying to hit those high notes. btw love the cover they should definetly re record this and put this on the next album whenever that will be.
(Lyrics) Hey Hey Hey When you look you see right through me Cut the rope, fell to my knees Fallen, broken every single time Always keep me under finger That's the spot where you would (sue) me Might see some type of pleasure in my mind Yeah, here comes the water It comes to wash away the sins of you and I This time you see Hey hey hey When you seek me you destroy me Rape my mind and smell the poppies Born in blood in every single time Always keep me under finger That's the spot where you might linger But I see some type of pleasure in my mind Yeah, here comes the water It comes to wash away the sins of you and I This time you see Like holy water It only burns you faster than you'll ever dry This time with me When you look you see right through me Cut the rope, fell to my knees Fallen and broken Every single time Yeah, here comes the water It comes to wash away the sins of you and I This time you see Like holy water It only burns you faster than you'll ever dry This time with me Hey, hey, hey
I do wish that they'd add more of the Velvet Revolver catalog to the setlist. I think Dirty Little Thing seems like a song right up Axl's alley. Both lyrically and vocally.
Oh my fuxxing god, Axl performing 'Slither', what a Legend. It showed true respect for a great song, then to see Duff and Slash doing 'Chinese Democracy', is the icing on the cake. They have put the past to rest and are now producing amazing performances like this. Fantastic. 🥰😍🤩😘💋❤️🔥❤💯🤘
Josh DUMOULIN and he still walks so proud he is still superior he is Legend and he is amazing I was always Axl Rose fan in his bad and good days and I knew he was gonna impress world again And he did No matter what you say truth is always simple Axl Rose Is Simply The Best
Just the very fact that Axl has covered Slither & Duff & Slash doing CD songs is already mindblowing still, no matter how people complain how Axl doesn't sing as well as Scott or Slash butchering the CD solos. At least we know how they sound like covering each other's work. If this didn't happen, the closest we'd get just for Axl singing slither is just Ai!Axl singing it.
I remember Axl dissing on Scott Weiland about singing GNR songs, that he should mess with the songs of his own band (VR). Life spins in a funny, ironic way sometimes. Fun fact: Weiland replied that Axl should not react that way, but he also dissed too on Chester Bennington for singing in STP, claiming CB stole his job and that "he had his own band".
in milan 2 years ago, during the gnr concert overthere, when i heard the intro of slither, my brain went ko, it was just to much just imagine axl singing this song, and it was true and live...
I think Axl sounds awesome here! Also, check out the bands recent performances with “Madagascar,” Axl sounds great and the rest of the band of course 🤘
I got into GNR just before contraband came out. The early 00's was my era for live music. I saw Velvet Revolver and the 'Chinese democracy' era GNR multiple times, both at download. I Stopped going gigs about 5 /6 years ago, and i just came across this video. The feelings and emotions seing these guys perform this song together at download is so special i really cant describe it. Very gutted i stopped going the festival just before this concert
